Luhan’s POV

I know it’ll look -and sound- exaggerated when I say I panicked immediately after seeing the blood form on Sungchan’s knees. But what can I say? I’m scared that she scraped her knees. And I care for her as much as the next dolphin would be.

I immediately scooped her up and brisk-walked to the clinic, with Baekhyun running back to us after he left to tell our teacher.

“Lulu! Let go!” Sungchan was squirming in my arms and I found it utterly cute that she sounded like a baby. But sure, I ignored her qualms.

When we arrived at the clinic, the nurse ahjumma winced. “What happened?”

“Tripped on a fast ball and literally brushed her knees on the ground,” I explained.

The nurse nodded and left to get some things. Sungchan was still frowning because I carried her. And I wouldn’t notice that Baekhyun was still with us if she hadn’t acknowledged him, rather, both of us.

“You two. You can get out, you know. I’m fine. Just get on with the project.”

“I already asked Jiyul and the others to get it,” Baekhyun replied.

The nurse came back with some gauze and other medical things, but she stared at me and Baekhyun who unwaveringly ignored Sungchan’s request. “You can wait for her outside, boys. She’s not gonna die.”

Baekhyun and I glanced at each other and were ushered out of the clinic. Pronto.

Outside, Baekhyun chuckled nervously and clutched his chest. “Sungchan suddenly got me scared back there.”

“It was just a scrape on the knee. There’s nothing to be worried about,” I said.

“Not to worry? You looked more worried about her. With the bridal-style carrying and all.” He elbowed me and gave out a teasing smile. “You like her don’t you?”

Is this guy challenging me?

If so, he has to know what I truly feel about Sungchan. This is going to be a man-to-man talk. No more secrets. “I don’t just like her. I love her. And I’ve always been since we were kids. And I want you to know that I’m not going to lose her to you.”

“What?”

“You heard me. I’ll do whatever it takes to make her mine. May the best man wins.”

For a second there I thought he’ll agree with me, but he just smiled affectionately, like he’s smiling at a kid. “She’s all yours, Luhan.”
