Being called to a meeting room, Jun Myeon, Kris and Eun Mi for the very first time feel very nervous. They were busy practicing in different practice room when the three of them are called by the new staff and walk to the meeting room together, talking to each other to figure out what did they do to be call like this. Other trainees just look as they walk pass them and start whispering.

“No, I didn’t do anything wrong!” Kris almost scream to Eun Mi who keep on blaming him for them to be call to the meeting room together.

“Was it because of the party we had before?” Eun Mi asks surprised, scared that the company found out about their secret party.

“No way!! It was only between us, no one open their mouth!! Not that I know of!” Jun Myeon said to the other two. All three of them are trying to discuss why they are being called, talking in a very slow, so that none of the secrets of them breaking any rule will be found out. They enter the meeting room and sits in a row, look at the new staff in front of them who’s still sweating while doing his job and when he left, they all look around to see if there’s any camera around and when they confirm there’s none, they start talking about what mistake they did.

“Or was it when you went shopping? Were you allowed to go shopping that day? Were you caught on camera?” Eun Mi said keep on blaming Kris again and again but never once ever blame it on Joon Myun.

“It was Sunday, you know?” Kris said annoyed with Eun Mi. Eun Mi then smile at Kris and smile to him sweetly and said to him, “I was joking oppa!” and Joon Myun just roll his eyes looking at Eun Mi trying to be cute.

They stand up when one of the managers came in. They were told that he will be either one of their managers early this year. He smile towards them, knowing they must have been nervous when they were suddenly called to the meeting room. The manager that they call as Mr. Park handed them a piece of paper that contains their new group name. Nothing much was written on it and he handed them a pen each.

“That will be your new group name. For Eun Mi, your group name is still unconfirmed, and Lee Soo Man said that he will accept suggestions for your own group name, if you wish to change it again. For Kris and Jun Myeon, your group name will be EXO. The details of the name, the meaning of the name and everything else is written on it. Now I want you to take the pen in front of you and take notes on what I’m going to say,” Mr. Park said. Though sounds really strict, he is still actually smiling towards them. Eun Mi look at her group’s new name and try hard to control herself from cringing. Their old name was cringe-worthy and their new name is the same as well, at least their old name sounds elegant. Sparkle, what does that supposed to mean?

“Two months ago, Jun Myeon move in Kyu Wan’s old dorm and Kris have six people in the dorm, right? You guys might have heard that SM Entertainment is planning on debuting a new boyband, right? Well, after discussing, the boy band will have two sub units, one is EXO-K and the other one is EXO-M which will be promoting separately. EXO-M will be focusing on the China market while EXO-K will be focusing on the Korean market. Your dorm mates are your group members. Though separating the teams into two, you are still considered as a group, and will perform together, for example like a company event. The number of members in your group isn’t determined yet, might be less or more than you have now, so practice well because not everyone will be selected. I have to warn you guys to not slack off even a bit, and practice harder because I’ve heard that the trainers are all informed about the debut plan and will monitor which one of you are slacking off and will give grades on your performance. Evaluation test will still be done every month but your two groups grades depends on your practice as well. So, good luck!” Mr. Park said to both of them while smiling. He’s a strict manager, that’s what they heard of but seeing him smile like this, though being nervous, it’s a bit relaxing.

“Han Eun Mi, how long has it been since you became a trainee? Seven years, longer than our Jun Myeon here. Right now, we are thinking of letting you debut as a solo singer before joining Sparkle. What do you think?” Eun Mi smile towards Mr. Park. She knows why they are offering this chance to her, it’s because her contract with them is ending and if they don’t let her debut now, her debut will be delayed in another one or two years after EXO debuted to promote EXO more.

“Mr. Park, I’m not going to debut as a solo artist. I’ve been with the girls for far too long, more than four years to leave them behind,” Eun Mi said to Mr. Park referring to how they were promise for a debut three years ago, but f(x) debuted first before them and ever since then, they were still put up in a group for practice until now.

“Aren’t you even scared of not being able to debut? You’ve been with the company for far too long. I’m talking to you right now as someone who have watch you since you first enter the company. You have talent, talent that shouldn’t be hidden behind these walls. The contract is nothing but a thin of paper that ties you down. They’re giving you a chance to debut, to have the stage to yourself; don’t you think you should take it?” Mr. Park said feeling a bit disappointed that he couldn’t help her.

“Mr. Park, it’s because I’ve been in here for so long that I didn’t want to debut on my own. I can’t leave my girls behind when all these while they had been with me as their leader. I need them with me, they’re my strength and I believe they feel the same way too. I believe the company won’t let one of their longest trainee down,” Eun Mi said. Mr. Park let out a big sigh and just let Eun Mi do what she wants to do, as always. The three of them leave the meeting room and went back to their practice room. When Eun Mi enters the practice room, she receives a text message from Kris.

“Han Eun Mi was very cool today. I can’t be as cool as our dear Eun Mi. One day, I hope I have the power to protect my group members just like you protect yours.”

“Kris oppa, I’m not protecting them but I’m loving them. To protect them, you need to love them first. When you’ve loved them, without knowing it, you’ll be protecting them, just like how you protect Tao all these while. I believe in you oppa, I believe you can be a good leader.” Eun Mi reply to Kris. Kris smiles reading her text message as it give him more strength to lead his group.
