Once in a Lifetime Opportunities

Big Bang's Newest Noona

To say I was grateful that the unnies and I were allowed to drink that night would have been an understatement. I didn't want to drink to excess mind you, but with the number of people at the club? I was feeling a little boxed in. Okay, a lot boxed in. I felt like every time I took a step, I was going to step on someone's toes. So what did I do? After trying to venture out once, I parked my and stayed at the table, like any sane person would. The boys had invited a few of the dancers along, so even though we had two VIP tables again, the tables were still a little crowded. Of course, within the first half hour only Top, Seungri, and two random girls, none of the dancers thank God, remained at the one table, with the unnies, managers, and myself at the other. I had my back to the boys' table and was laughing at something one of the mangers had tried to say, I say tried because I'm pretty sure he didn't actually mean to say what he did say, that would have just been... inappropriate. But as I was saying, I was laughing when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Kiki-ya," I turned as I heard a familiar voice whine behind me. A pouting Seungri peered at me over the seat and pointed at his elder who currently had a scantily clad girl on each side of him. "Top-hyung is mean and will not dance. The girls want to stay with him!" He pointed to the two girls on either side of Top, and I couldn't help but feel, well, something. This was the second time I had gone to a club with the guys, and it seemed like Top had a constant stream of women ready to sit next to him. And the little smirk he sent towards Seungri and myself did not help me feel any kinder to him.

"I'm sorry," I patted Seungri on the head. "Top-ssi can be mean, can't he?" I said sympathetically. I glanced over at said man again and couldn't believe it when he raised his glass towards me, continuing to smirk. Actually, I think his smirk grew, if that is even possible.

As I turned back to Seungri, I saw him glance between Top and myself before he started smiling, though at what I had no idea. "Kiki-noona... We will dance!" I felt my face go blank with shock, which caused a laugh to escape from the maknae. He grabbed my hand as he quickly stood up, pulling me out of my booth and making me stand as well.  Somehow I managed to pull back enough that I ended up escaping his grasp. I sat down again, though slightly less gracefully than I had hoped thanks to my momentum. Oh, and I was at the other table this time. But at least I was no longer heading towards the dance floor. That was a start! "Noona! We can dance the dance we practice. It will be fun!" Seungri said with a smile. He grabbed my hands and gave them a tug, but I just shook my head, causing him to pout and tug again. When that didn't work, he let go of my hands and gave me the biggest puppy dog eyes I had seen. So? I, in turn, crossed my arms and gave him my 'absolutely not' look. I guess he decided he had tried long enough, because at that point he turned to the two noonas behind me. "Hae Jung-noona, Cho Hee-noona!" He whined before he switched to Korean and continued, speaking a mile a minute while still managing to keep whining and pouting.

Finally, Hae Jung couldn't take it anymore. "Enough," she said, throwing her hands up in defeat. "You, go dance," she demanded as she pointed first at me and then at the dance floor before laughing.

"Unnie..." I tried pouting as well, with much different results.

"Aigoo!" Cho Hee exclaimed. She grabbed a shot that was in front of her, one of many I might add, and shoved it into my hand. "Go! Dance!"

"If you are too afraid," I heard a deep voice from behind me speak up, "you can stay here." I turned to see that smirk still in place and truthfully? That was what convinced me. I was not scared, well not very scared, but I sure as hell was not going to sit here, especially while he had a slinky woman on each arm. It made him look silly, and I would look even sillier if I stayed. Not even a third wheel, but something more... embarrassing. So, that really left me only two choices. Move back to the other table, or go for it. Sit around with a group of adults 10 years my senior, or go for the once in a lifetime opportunity of dancing in public with Lee Seung Hyun. A quick glance at the unnie's table and Seungri's face, and I knew what to do. I took a deep breath and downed the shot, repressing a shudder as I felt the liquor warm me up, aka burn, as I swallowed.

Turning to the maknae, I smiled. "Alright, lets dance," I finally agreed. I held out my hand and his face instantly brightened.

"Really?" He asked, taking my hand and pulling me up.

"Yes," I replied with a laugh. He looked so adorable at that moment, I couldn't help it. "Really." I heard chuckling behind me, but didn't even glance at the other man as Seungri led me to the dance floor. Okay, maybe I glanced out of the corner of my eye, but nothing more than that.

Of course, as soon as we set foot on the dance floor, before we even began to dance, I instantly regretted my decision. The dance was about a minute long, which I mentioned to Seungri, or tried to over the music, but to no avail. "Follow me," was the only shouted reply I got back, as well as a smile. We got to the center of the dance floor near the end of a song and Seungri quickly got to work. He whispered to a few of the girls around the spot he had chosen, and when the next song started? A sudden opening appeared around us, just enough space to dance in. I sent the maknae holding my hand a look, but he just grinned at me and, still holding my hand, suddenly pulled me closer. I felt my eyes go wide and my breath hitch. Time to dance. Oh god. Ohgodohgod. What if I messed up? What if I fell? What if- My thoughts were quickly interrupted as Seungri grinned at me and spoke. "Ready?" I took a deep breath and tried to smile back while I nodded. "Good," he actually smirked at me as let my hand go and moved away a tiny bit until we were in the starting position. And just like that, we started dancing.

Truthfully, I don't remember feeling that nervous. Probably because was too busy concentrating on the moves, following Seungri whenever he added extra movements, which he did fairly often, and trying not to grin from having fun. In fact, I didn't even realize the song was almost over until we reached the end of the dance and there was just enough time left for people to clap before the next song started up. Needless to say, I was out of breath. And Seungri? Had attracted a lot of attention. I think it was safe to say that a majority of the people who had gathered around and clapped for us had eyes only for Seungri, but at that moment he was just grinning at me, and I couldn't stop grinning back. "Have fun?" He leaned in close and asked/ shouted over the music.

I nodded as I replied, "Very much!"

"Want to dance again?" I looked over at him and he grinned as he tried to grab my hand. Luckily, I managed to dance out of his way.

"No no no," I said as I laughed. "But," I nodded my head to the girls that were around us, "I think one of them might."

At that point a very gorgeous girl tapped Seungri on the shoulder and leaned in to talk to him. He looked back at me with a question on his face. "Okay?"

I just grinned and nodded. "Yes! I'm fine!" I gave him a small wave as I turned and headed to the bar, away from all of the bumping and grinding bodies. As much as I knew Seungri was an adult, it was still awkward to see the adorable maknae dancing like that.

Of course, heading to the bar and actually reaching the bar were two completely different scenarios. After much shoving, elbowing, and- eh, who am I kidding. After managing to out-maneuver and slide past multiple drunkards, I made it to the bar. On the opposite end of the bar from the bartender. But hey, it was a start, right?

"Excuse me," I leaned against the bar and waved. "Umm, excuse me!" I tried a little louder, waving at the two bartenders who were both down at the other end of the bar, flirting with what looked like a party of girls.

I heard a chuckle from next to me. "It's no use, they've been down there flirting for quite awhile now." I turned to see who was speaking to me, and I hate, hate, hate to admit that I was speechless for a quick second. First thing I noticed? His eyes. I admit, I am a er for intense and gorgeous eyes. And his deep blue eyes mixed with that dark brown, almost black, hair? If you could see him, you would be speechless too, I am sure. Next was the fact that whoa, he was tall. I am not short for a girl, but he easily towered over me. I'd guess he was around 6'2" or 6"3. Definitely towered over me. But while he looked just amazing, he also looked like... a tool. One of those guys who goes around to bars picking up girls they think are desperate. And the best way to deal with them? Look, but don't interact. Works all the time.

"Oh," I replied after a good few seconds, before smiling a little. "Well, I can wait." I quickly turned back to the bar. Needless to say I was shocked when he continued talking to me. Usually the first cold shoulder was enough for these guys, but apparently he was a little more persistent.

"Do you want a seat?" I looked back over at him and saw him gesture at one that was currently unoccupied behind him. He smiled at me as he pulled it over, but I just shook my head.

"No, I'm fine," I gave him another smile as I looked back towards the bartenders. It was actually really, really hard to ignore him because he was a tall, very good looking tool guy. But he looked like a tool, so the fact that he was still trying to talk to me meant one of two things. One: he was bored, or two: he was looking for someone easy. And Nikky-noona was not easy. So I hoped that this second cold shoudler would be enough for him to stop tempting talking to me. Of course, my interested was caught again when I heard a chuckle from next to me again. I turned and saw that he was actually shaking his head and, if you can believe it, blushing. Laughing and blushing.

"What?" I asked. I couldn't help myself. I was curious. Plus, well... He looked cute when he blushed like that.

"Just, well," he shook his head as he rubbed the back of his neck, "I'm not very good at... this." He gestured between the two of us as he stopped talking, but my confused expression spurred him on. "Talking to girls. At bars. It's not really my thing," he said as he continued to blush. He looked away with a laugh and shook his head.

I was trying to think of what to reply when I heard, finally, a male voice say "What can I get for you?"

We both turned at the same time and said "Just water." I looked at him and couldn't help but smile a little.

"Water for the lady, and for you?"

He turned, gave me a smile small and said "A glass of H2O," but when that was greeted with a blank stare he laughed and repeated "Just water for now." The bartender shook his head as he walked away and all I could do was look at the man next to me. "What?" He asked with a smile. I just raised an eyebrow at him and he laughed again. "At least I didn't say H2O, too."

As corny as that was, it actually broke me enough that I smiled and had to look away. "Ah, so you understood? Well, how about I tell you my favorite chemistry poem." He cleared his throat and straightened up a little as he grabbed the glass of water the bartender had just set in front of him. "Ahem. Sally was a thirsty girl, but now she'll thirst no more. For what she thought was H2O-"

"-was H2SO4," I chimed in and finished with him. He gave me a goofy grin and I just couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm Chris," he said as he held out his hand. I looked between him and his hand, which caused him to laugh again. "I won't bite, I promise."

I looked up at him, and decided to just go for it. It wasn't like he was asking me out, he was simply introducing himself. Nothing wrong with that. "Ni..." I stopped and coughed, trying to cover up my slip. "Kiki. My friends call me Kiki."

"Well, Ni... Kiki," I blushed and he just grinned, "I won't ask what your real name is, though I can guess. But you prefer to be called Kiki?" I just nodded. "How is it that a dancer like you knows the difference between dihydrogen monoxide and sulfuric acid?"

"Ah, I'm not a dancer," I said as I took a sip of water. "I'm, well, I'm in a part time job right now, but before that I was a scientist."

"Oh," Chris replied. "Sorry, I just thought after seeing you dance-"

I almost choked on my water at that point. "You saw me dance?"

He nodded and grinned. "You were pretty good."

"Not really," I blushed as he shook his head, disagreeing with me. "It's more of a hobby than anything."

"And what about your friend?"

I scoffed as I glanced over the dance floor, taking in the fact that all 5 boys were now up and dancing, or at least trying to dance. "Which one?" I asked, jokingly. When I turned and saw his confused face I realized the slip I had made. "Oh, the one I was dancing with. He actually is a professional dancer."

Chris nodded as he finished his water. "And your other... friends? Are they all dancers as well?"

"Dancers and musicians, yeah," I nodded, glancing over to see most of the managers still at the table with the unnies, many empty glasses littering the table.

"Well how did a scientist like yourself get caught up in a group of artists like that?" He smiled at me and I felt myself blush a little more. He still seemed like a bit of a tool, but he was an adorable tool.

"Truthfully?" I asked and continued after he nodded. "Fate," I laughed at that.

"Fate?" I just nodded and he nodded back. "Got it, fate. So... not through friends or, I don't know, a boyfriend?"

I just turned to him and raised an eyebrow. "Is that your indirect way of asking if I'm dating someone?"

He laughed and had the decency to look a little ashamed. "It was that apparent, huh?" I just nodded and he blushed a little. "I just wanted to make sure I wasn't stepping on any of the toes of your friends here."

"Oh no no no, I'm not dating any of them," I finished my water before I continued. "Not that I'm looking for a boyfriend or anything."

"Of course not," Chris remarked. "I'm sure boys are just falling into your lap, so looking is unnecessary." I gave him a look again and he blushed. "Sorry, I guess that was a bit cheesy, huh?" I just nodded again. "I meant it when I said I didn't normally talk to girls like this. I guess I'm a little nervous," he finished with a chuckle as he waved at the bartender to come back over.

"Well, I've never talked to a guy that I met at the bar either, so I guess we're even," I said with a smile.

At that moment the bartender came over, and Chris was about to order himself a drink when he stopped and turned to me. "Ladies first," he held his hand out to me and I smiled shyly, my thoughts racing. Fate. Once in a lifetime opportunities and chances. A quick glance showed that the boys were all occupied dancing, the managers and the unnies were occupied at the table, so where did that leave me?

I turned to the bartender. "One mojito please," I said with a smile.

"Make that two," Chris said quickly, giving his card to the bartender who quickly bustled away.

"You didn't have to do that, I would have paid for my own," I tried not to pout, but Chris just laughed.

"Consider this my way of saying thank you for not laughing at my attempt to socialize while my friends are," he paused and looked out over the dance floor before he sighed and shook his head, "occupied."

I guess that meant he was in the same boat as me, stuck at the bar while his friends danced and drank and had fun. I glanced at the mojitos we had just been given, then up at Chris. He glanced at me and smiled, but not before I saw how resigned he was to being alone at the bar. Okay, maybe I was projecting my feelings onto him a little, but we were in the same boat. So why not keep him company? "Well," I said as I moved and sat in the chair he had brought before, "I think a mojito is worth more than just a few minutes conversation." The smile that lit up his face then made me smile again and blush. He pulled up another bar stool, though where he got it from I didn't know, nor did I care. "So Chris, how is it that you know the difference between dihydrogen monoxide and sulfuric acid?"
