Four Months After

Sunggyu's Thursday clinic hours ended early. He had the whole afternoon free since he had no surgery scheduled and he had nothing to do. He thought of calling Woohyun but he remembered, his boyfriend was in a client meeting at the moment. The leather couch was inviting and calling him to lay down and sleep but he didn't really feel like sleeping. He slumped on his chair and leaned his head on the headrest while looking at the ceiling thinking of what to do.

A loud sigh left his mouth then, he started opening his desk drawers. He just decided to declutter and clean his office table.

There were numbers of old pens without ink and used notepads that he threw away and few post-it notes that he used to write some of his things-to-do and his grocery lists. It had been a long time since he cleaned his desk and some of his things already collected dusts. When he pulled-out the last drawer, he found the book he was reading before Woohyun got into an accident. He completely forgot to return it to its owner.

Sunggyu opened the pages again and he found the last page he read. It was the one with the lines that caught his eye before. 'The emotion that can break your heart is sometimes the very one that heals it.' It made sense before and now it made sense more.

The biggest turning point of his life happened when he almost lost Woohyun 10 months ago. He realized that he couldn't live without him. After being subdued by all his personal emotional issues, when he saw Woohyun fighting for his life on the OR table, he just couldn't imagine life without Woohyun. All he felt the day before when he thought Woohyun lied to him and betrayed him just disappeared and even if he did lie to him, he wouldn't care. Because at those moments that Woohyun died on his watch; when he kept on dying on the table and in the ICU, he didn't care at all. All he wanted was Woohyun and to start over again with him without caring about anything but him and him only. All he wanted was to make things right between them.

Along the way of taking care of Woohyun until he woke up from coma and that night in the patio, he realized that nothing else mattered to him. His insecurities and trust issues didn't matter, it wasn't important to him anymore. Because what happened to Woohyun made him unbroken and he chose to be happy with the only man that he knew he would love until the end of time.

Sunggyu's and Woohyun's relationship had been better eversince they both chose to let go of the things that made them unhappy. Together with Woohyun's bone healing process, Sunggyu's emotional wound also healed; and that made their relationship stronger that it ever was.

Sunggyu closed the book and put it back inside the drawer. He couldn't help but smile recalling how he had learned the hard way in order to change himself to be a better person. All was because of Woohyun. The person who never gave up on him. The person who loved him the way he was never loved before. And the person who will forever be his world, his home.

"What are you smiling about babe?" Woohyun's voice startled him.

"Why are you here? I thought you have client meeting. It ended early?" He was surprised to see Woohyun inside his clinic. He didn't even hear the door opened.

"Yup, it ended earlier than I expected. Are you ready to go? You don't have any scheduled surgery this afternoon, right?"

Sunggyu smiled. He knew his boyfriend wouldn't return to his office anymore. "Yes. Where are we going though?"

"To your apartment because you need to shower and change clothes so I can hug and kiss you."

"You're so demanding and needy babe." He chuckled.

"I know and stop talking now and move. I want to cuddle the whole day and night. I missed you so it up."

He and Woohyun still lives separately. They were not planning to move in together any time sooner. The house that Woohyun was building for him was still under construction and he hadn't seen any of it. He was still on the process of accepting the house. Woohyun understood his reasons and he never forced him to visit it nor made him look at the pictures. He didn't even talk about it with him. It’s not that he would never want it, he just needed more time. Because no matter what they were saying, he felt like he still didn’t deserve any of it. It’s too much for a gift. It was so grand and yet, he felt like he hadn’t done more for Woohyun for him to be deserving of that house. His boyfriend outdid himself and it was so hard to match everything Woohyun had done for him.

Friday, and it was a rare occasion that Woohyun would wake up on Sunggyu's bed because it was a work day. He slept over because his boyfriend didn't want him to drive late at night. And speaking of his boyfriend, he already left for work at 5:30 in the morning leaving him alone. He wasn't planning on going to the company to work since he had important things to do outside work. His father was replacing him for the meantime. Sunggyu never knew he wouldn't be working and it would be one the last few secrets he would be keeping from him.

Woohyun got up from the bed and went to the kitchen for his coffee. He had so much to do for the day and he hoped that everything would go well.

His morning coffee was interrupted by Sungyeol’s call.

"Hyung, what time do you need us later?"

"Around 5:30pm."

"Ok. We'll be there. We are all here at Dongwoo hyung’s office; minus Sungjong."

He continued with his coffee while reviewing all the tasks he needed to accomplish. After, he got up from the kitchen stool and started his very long day.

Clinic day every Friday was always a toxic day to Sunggyu. He couldn't understand why of all days, it was always Friday that his patients wanted to make their appointment to see him. Aside from that, he had 2 scheduled OR time in the afternoon. He wanted to go home early but certainly, it would not happen.

"Hyung, Dongwoo hyung wanted to talk to you. Call him. You never answer any of his calls and he's going crazy." Sungjong informed him.

"Jjong, tell him we're busy. I couldn't call him now; or tell him to just shoot me a message, and can you call our next patient please."

Knocks on the door were heard before Sungjong can call the patient. When the door opened it was Dongwoo who entered.

"Gyu Gyu, I've been calling you. Why weren't you answering your phone?”

"You moron, we are very busy right now. What do you want?"

"Oh! It's a bad time? Ok. Just meet me at the café down the street at around 7:00pm. It's just 20-minute walk from here. And please shower and change clothes before meeting me. Bye!"

"That's it? That's all you wanted to tell me? You went here just for that?" Dongwoo nodded. "Unbelievable! You're an idiot and a lunatic. Now go and see you later. Shoo!"

After Dongwoo left, Sunggyu couldn't help but sigh. Dongwoo's request to shower and change clothes weren't going to happen with his surgeries in the afternoon. Going home then getting back would be impossible if they would be meeting at 7:00pm. Stupid Dongwoo!
