Trying to Forget
My Oasis (My Resting Place)
Jun Hyung sat on the bench at the park while his friends were playing soccer. He stared into space and then looked at the bench he was sitting on and thought back to the night when Sa Rang was waiting for him on their second meet. He sighed then thought back to all the times he and Hyun Bin played soccer and laughed together. He sighed and got up then walked into a Game Station and played video games (those that made him concentrate on it).
At night Sa Rang got out of her bedroom wearing a short-short and a one-inch strap tank top. She went to grab two sugar donuts in a plate from the kitchen and came back to sit down in the living room and ate them while watching TV. She looked at her sugar donut and thought of all the times she and Jun Hyung ate those together happily. Suddenly, Hyun Bin’s images popped into her mind. She sighed frustrated and ate like crazy turning on a comedy show to keep her laughing.
Sa Rang’s cell phone rang next to her. She answered it with out looking at the name. “Hello?”
“Sa Rang, come out right now. This is an emergency.” Hyun Bin told her then hung up. She hung up and ran out in her short-short and tank top. She looked up and saw Hyun Bin standing in front of her. He looked at her. “What took you so long?” he asked her walking towards her. She looked at him then sighed and looked down stopping her walk. “Hyun Bin,” she said crossing her arms out in front of her from the frozen temperature outside. “What took you so long?” he asked again louder. She looked at him kind of shocked. “Uh, I’m sorry. I came out right when you called. You said it was an emergency.” She said stuttering. Hyun Bin walked to her and dragged her left hand away with him. She walked away with him forcefully groaning from the pain of him squeezing her wrist. “Hey, where are you taking me?” she asked trying to release her hand. Hyun Bin took her to the park that was away from her house. When they got there, he stopped walking with his hand still wrapped around Sa Rang’s. He looked at her. She whined wrapping her other hand around her arm that he wouldn’t release. “Hey, please,” she said struggling crying now. “It hurts.” She said then bent down to her knees. “Hey, who told you to wear something like that too? You know how cold it is? It’s winter for Christ’s sake. Are you a bear?” he yelled at her. She cried scared. “What’s wrong with you? Why are you so weird?” She asked. “Why aren’t you answering me?” He yelled at her. “But you said it was an emergency.” She said. Hyun Bin looked down at her frustrated then threw her arm away from her, spraining it from the amount of strength he put into throwing her arm. She grunted from the pain and grasped her left shoulder crying. “Hey, what are you doing?” she yelled at him. He looked at her madly. “Didn’t I tell you to stop hanging around him?” he finally said. She cried still grasping her shoulder. “Didn’t I?” he asked her again. She looked down crying scared, shaking from the cold and from the pain of her arm.
Jun Hyung sat in his chair in front of his desk looking at things in his computer. His cell phone rang from his desk. He looked at it then ignored it.
Sa Rang was still at the park alone crying to herself with her phone pressed against her ear. Her left arm was down and dangling straight on the ground, unmovable. “JOON,” she cried. “Pick up the phone.” She said sobbing.
Jun Hyung’s phone rang again. He looked at it and stood up then walked out.
