After: Part 4

Our Story

Minseok didn't know what to do. When the news had been given, all he could feel was peace. For months, he had been worrying over whether Yifan was going to leave or not. For months, he had been stressing and wondering what he would do once it happened; if it happened. And now that if finally had, he wasn't majorly upset. He was finally rid of the question that had caused him to toss and turn at night. He was finally free.

He felt guilty for thinking that way. Yifan had left. Why wasn't he reacting the way that he should be? Why wasn't he upset like the others? Did that make him a bad friend? A bad person? He wanted to ask Luhan about this, to confide in him. But he thought about Luhan's own intentions of leaving EXO and faltered. But the question remained in him and it kept him up. Minseok was in bed right now and supposed to be asleep but he couldn't. Minseok smiled bitterly. Just when he had gotten rid of one question, another came along.

What made things even worse was that Luhan had been avoiding him, saying he needed time to deal with his emotions; that he didn't want Minseok to see him cry. Minseok had reluctantly agreed, knowing how much Luhan valued his 'manly' image. But it had been three weeks since they'd even talked which he thought was ridiculous. Every time he tried to go near the boy (offstage), Luhan would make an excuse and go away.

It scared him more than he could admit. It made him wonder whether Luhan was thinking of doing what Yifan had done. Minseok sighed, giving up on ever sleeping and went out of his bedroom to go get a glass of water. When he reached the kitchen, he was surprised to see Yixing there, drinking a cup of tea while flicking through the pages of a notebook. "Hey." Minseok greeted. Yixing glanced up sleepily and smiled. "Hello, Minseok hyung." He replied. "What are you doing?" Minseok asked curiously as he filled a glass with water.

"Writing a song for Yifan." Yixing replied straightforwardly. Minseok froze and placed the glass down before turning. "What?" He asked, not sure whether he had heard right. Yixing looked up knowingly. "I'm writing a song. For Yifan hyung. And the fans as well." Yixing elucidated once again. "Why? Don't you feel betrayed by him?" Minseok asked casually.

Yixing raised an eyebrow. "Do you?" He asked. Minseok flushed and looked down. "No." He admitted truthfully. "I kind of knew he was going to leave." Yixing sat up straighter. "What? You did?" He asked. "Yeah.." Minseok trailed off, unsure whether the boy was upset. "I did too." Yixing said, a small smile on his face.

Now it was Minseok's turn to be surprised. "You did?" He asked incredulously. Yixing nodded. "I figured out about a year ago." He said softly. Minseok shook his head in wonder. "Wow." It was all he could say. Yixing nodded. "I talked to him on the phone as well." The boy dropped casually. Minseok's eyes widened even more. "What?" He asked. Yixing giggled. "Yeah, I did." he said. Minseok couldn't help but feel admiration at the boy. "Well, how did it go?" he asked finally, hesitantly. Yixing smiled. "He said he's feeling much better and that he's happier." Yixing informed. Minseok couldn't help but smile at the news. "That's good." He said honestly. Yixing nodded.

"But don't you miss him?" Minseok asked, after a short period of silence. "Of course I do. But it was better for him to go. He needed to leave." Yixing said. "Being an idol wasn't for him and it was slowly killing him. I would much rather he be happy than be with us." Minseok sat down opposite the boy. "Can't we have it both ways? Can't he be happy and be with us too?" Minseok asked desperately. "Are we still talking about Yifan?" Yixing asked, gazing at Minseok curiously.

Minseok gulped. "It's Luhan." He said quietly. Yixing sighed deeply but didn't seem to be too surprised. "I see." He said softly. "I think he- I think he's going to leave as well." Minseok confessed, his voice no louder than a whisper. Yixing turned to him with a pitiful expression. "It's different right? He wouldn't actually leave! He said he loves me!" Minseok said, getting frantic. Yixing gave a small sad smile. "Hyung." He said, stopping Minseok mid-ramble. The simple phrase seemed to signal to Minseok that there was no hope.

"I should let him go, right? It would be the good thing to do, right?" Minseok asked. Yixing nodded. "The good thing is always the hardest." The boy said wisely. Minseok sighed in response.

"I don't want to." He said softly, standing up. Yixing glanced up at him expectantly. "Oh Yixing, what do I do?" He asked the boy. Yixing smiled. "Talk to him."

Chapter 80: I finally completed your story. (I wanted to finish it way much earlier... >_>) And I really have to say that your story was incredible. The whole story seemed so realistic and I really liked they way you took your time with establishing the relationship between Xiumin and Luhan. Also all the dialogues, movements or gestures from the characters seemed so real, I felt like actually beeing in EXO's dorm viewing a movie while standing on the set myself and seeing everything from such a closeness, because the way you wrote I could really imagine every scene so well and it was such a pleasure to read your story, because you used a wide range of vocabulary and used good terms.
Luhan was so sweet in this story, I am happy that you didn't make him the bad guy and Xiumin and him somehow managed to move on their own way. They deserved so much better.
Not only had Kris's leave a huge impact on the whole group (btw love it, that you showed every single member at that part.), but also Xiumin's sadness at the end, not beeing able to let out his emotions, not wanting to selfish rubs off on the reader as well.
I don't even know how to express all what I am feeling and how happy I am to have read this story. It was the fluffiest of fluff, as romatic as love poem and yet sad and realistic.
Just like the two of them I won't forget. I will come back and read your story again.
I cannot help but hope for them to find happiness.
