Finding Him
Our Story“There’s lots of places.” Tao complained. Suho sighed. “Let’s split up.” He used his leader tone. The one that made him sound older than he was, stronger than he probably felt. “Let’s check the area around our dorm. Me and Tao will handle the southern area. Kai and D.O., you guys tackle the east. Chen and Baekhyun, you two take the west. Luhan hyung and Xiumin hyung, you guys take the north. The rest of you- Chanyeol, Sehun and Lay can stay here and cover for us.” Suho ordered. Everyone nodded, agreeing with the plan. “Call if you find him.” Chanyeol added. Luhan turned to Xiumin. “Let’s go.” p>

There were so many places to look, loads of shops and parks where Kris could be. Luhan and Xiumin had to dart into stores and check quickly for any sign of the tall boy and then move onto another store when he couldn’t be found. They entered another random store and quickly searched for the boy. Luhan quickly checked the dressing rooms as Xiumin checked all of the corners of the shop. “Not here.” Xiumin spoke through the black mask on his face. Luhan nodded and grabbed Xiumin’s hand to go to the next store. >
Soon, all the stores had been checked and no sign of Kris. “Ah, where could he be?” Xiumin asked, sounding worried. Luhan shook his head as he looked around. “No idea.” He spoke in response. At that moment, Xiumin’s phone rang. “Oh, it’s Chanyeol.” Xiumin notified before picking up the phone. “Hey.” He said in greeting. Luhan turned away, his thoughts racing. Where could Kris be? p>
Xiumin hung up the call and turned to Luhan. “Chanyeol says the manager’s going to be there soon.” Xiumin informed with a look of concern. Luhan sighed. “Where is he?” Luhan asked. Xiumin shook his head helplessly. “Is there anywhere else that we haven’t checked? Anywhere?” Luhan asked Xiumin. A look of concentration came on Xiumin’s face. “I’m not completely sure but if we’re in the north, isn’t the seaside nearby?” Xiumin wondered out loud. Luhan nodded. “Right. I’m pretty sure I heard Joonmyun mention something about it.” Luhan recalled.
Xiumin nodded. “Let’s go there.” He suggested. Luhan nodded. “But how? Which direction?” He asked Xiumin. Xiumin nodded. “Wait here.” He said before turning and walking forward. “Where are you-” Luhan’s eyes widened in realization as he watched Xiumin talk to one of the people on the streets. >
Xiumin came back with a confident gleam in his eyes. “It’s that way.” Xiumin said, pointing to the left. “Just keep on going straight, apparently.” He added. Luhan nodded. “Let’s go then.” He said, grabbing Xiumin’s hand as they walked through the busy crowds, quickly making their way across. “Oh, it’s there.” Xiumin pointed out as the sea came into view. In the area, on the pavement, there weren’t many people (it was in the middle of the afternoon). “Let’s look for him.” Luhan said as they walked down the pavement. They discreetly checked every person’s face that they passed by. Luhan was just checking a couple and apologizing for disturbing them when Xiumin pulled at his sleeve. “Lu-ge.” He spoke simply as he pointed forward. Luhan followed his hand and saw a tall figure, leaning against the railing and looking at the sea. “Yifan.” Luhan spoke. Xiumin nodded. “Come on.” Xiumin said and they walked over to the boy.
“Wu Yifan.” Luhan said once they were near enough. Yifan turned and looked at them, no emotion in his eyes or face, not even surprise. He simply raised an eyebrow. Luhan didn’t know how to respond. They had been looking for the boy for so long that he hadn’t even stopped to wonder about what they would do once they found him. Fortunately, Xiumin seemed to. “Do you know how worried we were? How worried everyone was? If you didn’t want to go to the meeting, you could have told someone! Everyone’s going around looking for you and they’re all equally upset and worried!” Xiumin said, his tone hurt and angry.
Yifan nodded. “Sorry.” He said simply. “Sorry? What- is that it?” Xiumin said. Luhan laid a calming hand on the boy’s shoulder, making Xiumin fall silent instantly. “Look, I know you haven’t been very well lately and you’ve had second thoughts on.. some stuff. But would it really hurt to tell someone before disappearing?” Luhan asked, trying to remain calm. “He knows, by the way. About me wanting to leave EXO.” Yifan mentioned casually. Luhan turned to Xiumin. “You do?” He asked in shock. Xiumin nodded. p>
“Yifan. Let’s just go home.” Xiumin said softly, all his anger gone as he placed a hand on the boy’s shoulder and smiled comfortingly. Yifan sighed. “Home? It’s not home.” Yifan replied. An expression of hurt came on Xiumin’s face. “You don’t consider it to be a home?” He asked. Yifan just smiled bitterly in response. “I don’t know anymore.”
Xiumin and Luhan stared at the tall boy silently. “Let’s go back to the dorm.” Yifan said finally, his words careful. Luhan nodded as Xiumin turned away, taking out his phone. “Joonmyun.” Xiumin began shakily. Luhan grabbed the boy’s hand and squeezed it comfortingly. Xiumin turned to him and nodded in thanks, giving a little smile. “We found Yifan.” Xiumin spoke, his voice firm.
