Our Story

Luhan loved fanmeetings. That is why he had been excited for the fanmeeting in Germany. But once they had seen the crowds of German fans, holding up signs in English and screaming EXO, Luhan remembered that he knew little to no english. After this realization, he decided to ask Kris for help. After all, the leader was form freaking Vancouver.

Kris and Suho were watching a mandarin TV show together, Kris translating what was happening to Suho, constantly pausing the video to explain a funny joke. "Kris!" Luhan called out once he was near the boy. Kris looked up. "Luhan? What is it?" He asked. "Teach me English!" Luhan said, stopping in front of the tall boy, his hands held together, his tone pleading. Kris raised an eyerbrow. "Why the sudden interest?" He asked hesitantly, as if he wasn't sure whether he wanted an actual answer to that.

Luhan blushed at the question, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Well, you know, I want to be able to communicate with the fans. I mean, they pay so much money to meet with us; it's the least I can do." Luhan admitted. Suho smiled kindly at him. "I know how you feel. I've also been brushing up a bit. It's good that you are doing this." He reassured patting his back. Luhan smiled. Wow, had Suho always been this nice? He deserved a chocolate bar. "Joonmyun-ah, I'm going to buy you a chocolate bar." Luhan said seriously, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. Suho's proud face morphed into one of confusion. "Huh?" He asked. Kris sighed, getting up. "Don't bother. Luhan is more of a maknae than you would believe." Kris told Suho and the younger boy nodded, a look of understanding appearing on his face.

Luhan wanted to beat Kris up. Heck he was going to beat him up. However, he remembered just as he raised his hand, that Kris was going to be helping him. So, Luhan placed an overly sweet smile on his face as he stared at Kris expectantly. "Wufan." he said in a saccharine voice smiling up at the taller boy. Suho also turned to Kris with a puppy-dog look, his eyes eager and big. Glancing at the two of them, Kris sighed in defeat and nodded. Luhan threw a fist in the air before high-fiving Suho. "Alright!" Luhan said. Suho laughed and turned to leave, offering a 'Fighting!' to Luhan before going to help Tao.

"So where do we start?" Luhan said, turning to Kris. Kris sighed once again.

"That was so not helpful." Luhan pouted, when they were in the car going to the their fan meeting in Berlin. Kris just smirked in response from wehre he sat at the front with the manager. "It's enough to convey your feelings. Besides, they'll find your broken english cute." Kris added. That just made Luhan even more frustrated. "I don't want to be cute. I'm one of the eldest! I'm supposed to be y, smart and cool!" Luhan whined. Chen, who was sitting at the back with Tao and Lay laughed. "You sound like a baby, hyung." Chen teased. Luhan shot an angry glare at the boy.

Xiumin was sat next to Luhan as usual, and looked up from where he was texting someone. "I'm sure it'll be fine Luhan. Don't worry too much! The fans will love you, whether they can understand you or not." Xiumin reassured, squeezing Luhan's shoulder. Luhan smiled gratefully at the shorter boy. "Thanks." He muttered, blushing a bit at the compliment. He leaned into Xiumin a bit but was stopped by Xiumin's eyes which flickered over to the front where the manager was seated. Luhan pretended to brush Xiumin's face quickly. "You had something there." He lied, his voice loud so that the manager could hear it.

Xiumin's cute smile, with his eyes shining in amusement as he resisted the urge to laugh.

Looking at Xiumin's expression made Luhan remember one of the english words (one of the only ones he could remember to be honest):

unbelievable.

~

For the first hour of the fanmeeting, everything was a blur. As Luhan stared at the sea of fans, all he could think about was how many people they were. It wasn't actually larger than the amount of fans who came to their meetings in Korea or China but there was something different about the fans here. Something drastically different about the way they cheered, the way they looked, the way they held themselves, something that made Luhan both nervous and excited. As they introduced themselves in English, the fans cheers became even louder and the noise was deafening and overwhelming but Luhan couldn't help but smile like an idiot when it was his turn to speak. He was fueled by the cheers and spoke loudly and confidently, remembering the way that Kris had said the english words and imitating the accent and tone of voice as he introduced himself.

When Xiumin introduced himself, the cheers grew louder and Luhan smiled at the boy's obvious relieved grin. Ever since the hate letter, Xiumin seemed to almost be a bit nervous when introducing himself as if he was afraid someone was going to boo him. Luhan personally felt that was ridiculous, who could, in their right mind, dislike Xiumin? But all the same, he too felt more relaxed as he watched Xiumin become more comfortable, able to speak a bit more freely after the hardest obstacle had been overcome.

When they actually started the fanmeeting, everything became a bit more relaxed. Most of the German fans were quite well behaved and orderly and so, the fanmeeting was able to run smoothly and efficiently. Luhan sat next to Xiumin with Sehun on the other side. Sitting next to Xiumin was Baekhyun. The first fan that Luhan met was a girl with black hair tied into two braids that reached her waist. "Hi!" Luhan said entusiastically, waving at her eagerly. The girl gave a tiny squeal before replying. "Hi! I love you Luhan!" The girl said enthusiastically. "Thank you!" Luhan replied automatically, a sweet smile on his face. He signed her CD and poster and she was ushered along with a laugh and wave from Luhan. As the next fan came up to Luhan, he performed his role again, mechanically doing everything; smiling, laughing, waving, allowing them to hold his hand e.t.c.

In reality, he was only half-listening. From the corner of his eye, he watched the first girl smile and laugh at Xiumin, asking for a high-five. Luhan nodded unconsciously, pleased with the braided hair girl as he turned back to the fan in front of him, devoting all of his attention to her.

~

An hour and a half passed like this and the boys grew more and more tired, their smiles a bit more strained now. It was nearly the end when she came. A girl with bright red hair cropped short and big loopy golden earrings, her face lit up with a smile as she eagerly placed a CD in front of Luhan. Her face didn't really matter though nor her actions. What mattered was her shirt. It had a picture of Xiumin as well as Korean handwriting: 'I love Kim Minseok.'

Luhan was suddenly beaming as he attempted to speak in english. "You... fan.. Minseok? Xiumin? Baozi?" He attempted hesitantly, wincing inwardly at how awkward he sounded. The girl didn't seem to mind that much and seemed to understand him as she nodded her head eagerly before replying in equally awkward Korean. "Yes! I love.. Kim Minesok! He's... my best. Aya, I mean, He's my favourite!" She informed before opening her bag and taking out multiple posters of Xiumin. Luhan's eyes widened in delight and he quickly pulled at Xiumin's sleeve. "What, Luhan, wait." Xiumin said as he finished signing the CD for the fan in front of him. He turned to face Luhan, a face of confusion on his face. "What's so important?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Luhan pointed out to the girl in front of him. "She says she's a big fan of you! You're her favourite! Look at her posters! Her shirt!" Luhan said eagerly. Xiumin turned to look and blushed a bit at the girl. The girl, a bit unaware, let out a squeal. "I'm such a big fan! I really am! I love you! You're my favourite! OH MY GOD! Minseokkie oppa!" She gushed excitedly jumping up and down.

Luhan giggled happily turning to see Xiumin's expression. The boy had an almost shy smile on his face as he thanked the girl in stuttering English. His words, although a bit muddled up and awkward, were sincere and sweet. Luhan smiled, glancing at the happy expression on the older boy's face. He felt the urge to kiss the boy who was signing the CDs, chatting with the girl through gestures and broken english. "Hyung! Hyung!" He heard Sehun hiss as the boy pulled at Luhan's sleeve. Luhan broke out of his daydream and turned to Sehun with an annoyed look, staring at him questioningly. Sehun stared back, pointing to the annoyed fan who was waiting for Luhan's attention. Luhan immediately turned to the fan, blushing in shame as he offered an apologetic smile to the pissed of fan. As he frantically signed the album, he stole on more glance at Xiumin who was smiling a real smile. A genuine smile, not his stage smile.

~

Hours later, when the fanmeeting was over and they were back at the hotel, Xiumin talked to Luhan about it. "It was amazing." Xiumin breathed out as he turned to look at Luhan from where they were lying together on their backs on the bed. Luhan turned to face Xiumin, a smile on his face. "I'm not surprised." He told Xiumin. "It was time that someone noticed your perfection." Xiumin blushed at that. "I'm not perfect." the boy mumbled. Luhan pulled the older boy close to him. Xiumin let out a yelp in surprise, his eyes widening at the sudden action. "What-" He was cut off by Luhan's lips, pressing slightly against Xiumin's before pulling back. "Shhh. Listen to me." Luhan said, placing a finger on Xiumin's lips. Xiumin nodded.

"Perfection, I think, is an idea that is based on your own personal preferences and beliefs. For me, you are a representation of perfection. I know that you won't ever believe me, not completely. But, never forget, that no matter what anyone says, for me, you will always be perfect." Luhan finished, smiling at Xiumin at the end.

Xiumin grinned. "Then that's all I really need." He said before connecting their lips once again.

Unbelieveable, Luhan thought as Xiumin giggled against Luhan's lips, his voice sending vibrations that filled his chest with warmth.

Chapter 80: I finally completed your story. (I wanted to finish it way much earlier... >_>) And I really have to say that your story was incredible. The whole story seemed so realistic and I really liked they way you took your time with establishing the relationship between Xiumin and Luhan. Also all the dialogues, movements or gestures from the characters seemed so real, I felt like actually beeing in EXO's dorm viewing a movie while standing on the set myself and seeing everything from such a closeness, because the way you wrote I could really imagine every scene so well and it was such a pleasure to read your story, because you used a wide range of vocabulary and used good terms.
Luhan was so sweet in this story, I am happy that you didn't make him the bad guy and Xiumin and him somehow managed to move on their own way. They deserved so much better.
Not only had Kris's leave a huge impact on the whole group (btw love it, that you showed every single member at that part.), but also Xiumin's sadness at the end, not beeing able to let out his emotions, not wanting to selfish rubs off on the reader as well.
I don't even know how to express all what I am feeling and how happy I am to have read this story. It was the fluffiest of fluff, as romatic as love poem and yet sad and realistic.
Just like the two of them I won't forget. I will come back and read your story again.
I cannot help but hope for them to find happiness.
