Moving On
Our StoryIt takes some time but eventually, they move on. The members overcome their sadness and anger and pain individually, handling it in their own ways before finally accepting the fact that Yifan is no longer there. Minseok accepts it as well and even manages to call up the boy and talk to him (about everything and anything) without feeling heavy with guilt.
There are changes, of course. Chanyeol becomes more louder, as if covering up the loss of Yifan by speaking, using words to fill the void inside him. Zitao becomes more mature and no longer acts silly or cute, becoming more stoic and calm. He only seems to be the same way he was before Yifan's departure when he is with Sehun and Joonmyun. Joonmyun becomes a better leader and more carefree, more in tune with the members. In ways, the members had become more kinder to each other (not that they weren't before), being more considerate to each other's feelings and expressing their opinions freely.
In ways, Luhan had changed as well. These days, the boy was tired and stressed, only smiling on screen. It worried Minseok and he would try and help the boy. Another thing that had changed was that they didn't have . There simply wasn't enough time and when they did have free time, Luhan would only cuddle and kiss for a few minutes before saying he was tired. Minseok accepted the quiet rejection with a smile, insisting that it was perfectly fine, perfectly understandable. But it wasn't okay and he didn't understand.

It was after one of their performaces on a music show and they were going for a photoshoot. Xiumin watched with concern as Luhan sighed in his sleep, turning over restlessly in his car seat. At the back, Chen and Lay were competing to get the highest score on a new game and usually, Luhan would have joined them. Today, he had fallen asleep as soon as they entered the car.
Xiumin didn't get it. The boy had gotten enough sleep (well, enough sleep for an idol). There was no reason for him to be so tired. Xiumin turned away, looking back at Tao. The boy was listening to music while looking out of the window, a blank expression on his face. Xiumin sighed. He was worried about those two.

Xiumin listened as the manager told everyone to take some shots in groups and pairs. Usually, this would be the time when Luhan would approach Xiumin and grab him, taking him to the director for their shot together. He waited expectantly but no one came. He glanced over at Luhan who was staring away, looking at the cameras with an unidentifiable expression on his face. Xiumin tried to ignore the ache in his heart as he walked over to Luhan.
"Hey Luhan. Want to take a picture together?" He asked, his voice soft and gentle. Luhan glanced up in surprised, broken from his thought. "Huh? Oh, uh, maybe later? I want to go get my makeup touched up." The boy said nonchantly before walking away to the make up artists. Xiumin nodded after him. "Okay then!" He said cheerfully, pretending to be fine.
He hated it. The constant rejection he faced these days, the way that Luhan had suddenly become distant. It was never obvious (the rejection); Luhan never blatantly said he didn't want to go with Xiumin. He would be subtle, would make an excuse, would pretend he hadn't heard the question. Xiumin didn't say anything about it. Because he knew that Luhan needed space and time to think. Because he knew that Luhan was considering whether he should leave or not. Because Xiumin didn't want the boy to feel compelled to stay because of him. Because he loved Luhan.
And when you loved people, you should be willing to make sacrifices for them. Well, according to his mum anyway. Xiumin's smile faded once Luhan was out of his sight, going into the dressing room. He sighed deeply and turned around to face Baekhyun. "Hyung, is everything okay?" Baekhyun asked. One look at his face told Xiumin that Baekhyun had heard the exchange between him and Luhan. "Perfectly fine." Xiumin said with a smile. Baekhyun gazed back suspiciously. "Are you sure?" He asked. Xiumin nodded. "Come on! Let's take pictures together!" He said happily, dragging Baekhyun to the cameras.

In the end, Luhan never came back to take the picture with him.
