Chanyeol shook his head and enveloped the boy in a hug. “Don’t ever leave like that hyung.” Chanyeol mumbled. “Hyung!” Sehun appeared at the doorway with a shocked expression on his face. As soon as Chanyeol let go, Sehun attacked the boy with a fierce hug. “You’re in so much trouble.” The boy said playfully punching Kris’s shoulder. Kris gave a small smile at that. Lay chose that moment to make his appearance, looking around in shock. “Yifan-ge!” He said once he had noticed Kris. “Yixing.” Kris replied. Lay walked closer and slapped Kris’s arm. “Where the heck did you go?” He asked in Korean before switching to Mandarin. Xiumin couldn’t understand it but from Luhan’s amused smile and Kris’s somewhat sheepish expression, he managed to get the gist of it.

“Is anyone else here yet?” Xiumin asked as they walked into the dorm, sitting down on the sofas. “Nope. Just you guys so far.” Chanyeol informed. Kris sat down next to the tall boy. “Oh, hyung. Where did you go anyway?” Sehun asked curiously. Kris glanced up. “I just needed some fresh air and lost track of time.” Kris lied smoothly. “What about your phone?” Chanyeol interrogated. “Out of battery.” Kris replied without skipping a beat. p>

Xiumin thought about how disturbingly good Kris was at lying. Just like Luhan. It was scary.

Baekhyun and Chen arrived and after some angry scolding and warm hugs settled down. They were followed by Kai and D.O. Kai didn’t seem particularly angry, simply hugging Kris and patting the tall boy’s head before settling down next to Sehun. D.O., on the other hand, gave Kris a 4 minute lecture on how stupid his actions had been and threatened to kill Kris in multiple ways if that happened again. Everyone was settling down and had the TV when Suho and Tao made their appearance. p>

The two boys had teary streaks on their face and looked upset and relieved at the same time. “Did you cry?” Baekhyun asked, struggling not to laugh. Chen burst into laughter from next to him, unable to control himself. Chen laughing set Chanyeol off and the boy’s body went into ‘seizure mode’, as it often did when the boy got excited. Baekhyun just managed to control himself. Tao was not pleased and smacked Chen and Chanyeol simultaneously on their heads. “Ya..” Chen said, his expression dazed as he clutched his head. “That hurt.” Chanyeol commented with an equally dazed expression.

Tao smiled smugly before turning to Kris. “Yifan-ge!” The boy exclaimed and burst into tears again before running up childishly and hugging the slightly taller boy like a child sobbing about him leaving them. Kris sighed and patted the boy’s head comfortingly. Suho also began to cry, looking ugly as he rubbed at his eyes. “Joonmyun hyung, you’re being embarrassing.” Sehun said rudely. Kris flicked the maknae’s head. “Ah!” Sehun said rubbing at his head. “Don’t make fun of your hyungs.” Kris scolded. Tao let go of Kris and turned to scold Sehun. Kris smiled at Suho and held out his arms. “Sorry Joonmyun-ah.” He said. Suho nodded and went into the boy’s arms, hugging him tightly. “Don’t do that!” The leader mumbled. “Remember, you’re a leader as well.” He reminded. Kris sighed. “I know. Believe me, I know.” He said and looked straight at Xiumin and Luhan. a>

A few months later and things had begun to seem normal. The music video had been shot, Kris had attended every meeting and generally remained on task during the preparations for the comeback. Xiumin and Luhan had thought that everything was fine. How wrong they were. Really, they should have seen it coming. But their desperate hope to pretend everything was fine, in particular Xiumin’s wish for everything to remain normal, was what blinded them into not seeing the actual truth.  

It was the beginning of the end for EXO, when Kris filed the lawsuit against SM Entertainment and they were informed by the news rather than the boy himself, that he wanted to leave EXO. p>
