Chapter 41

Pressing her fingers against the calendar in her room, she felt the small little bump, reading out loud, “March 15th.” Sunny clapped her hands enthusiastically, “Yay, you got it.” Sunny said, pulling on her black ponte rib knit blazer jacket as she said that. Tiffany grinned widely, “Jaejoong Oppa is finally graduating today.” Sunny stopped what she was doing & stared at Tiffany with surprises. She hadn’t wanted her to know. Tiffany got up & put her arms out to find Sunny. She grasped her hands with her, “Please Sunny, bring me to his graduation ceremony?” Sunny bit her purplish pink lips, not knowing what to say. She didn’t want to risk bringing Tiffany to the ceremony & letting her get hurt by Jejung Oppa, “Tiffany, I.” Tiffany shook her head, “I know that you are going to the ceremony & that Siwon Oppa came back today to attend his own graduation as well. I don’t know why you hid this from me but I won’t ever forget the date to Jaejoong Oppa’s graduation.”

A tear fell down onto their en-clasped hands & Sunny stared down in shock, “Tiffany, don’t cry.” She wiped away the tears forming in her eyes, “I can’t help it. I promised Oppa that I will be there rooting for him no matter what. It was my wish to see Oppa be successful when we were little & he is finally going to fulfill his dream today & graduate from university today.” Sunny hugged her close, “Why do you have to be so stupid & still feel for that idiot?! He doesn’t deserve your love & care. After all he’s done, you still want him to be successful? If it were me, I had rather him fail all his classes & lose his voice & never sing again, ruining his career.” Tiffany gasped loudly, shaking her head vigorously, “No, you can’t say that. Please don’t? He needs to be successful & happy. It’s my fondest wish. It’s why I...I lied to him.” Sunny pulled away & crossed her arms over her chest, fuming at the thought of Jejung & what he did to poor Tiffany.

Tiffany shook her arm, “Please Sunny?” Sunny sighed. She knew she couldn’t win this battle of emotions, “Okay, fine, I will bring you with me to the graduation ceremony but one step out of line from Jejung Oppa, he will wish he was never born. Mark my words.” Tiffany laughed happily & nodded, “Thanks, girl. Let’s go.” Sunny looked down at Tiffany’s clothing & the dark sunglasses that covered her eyes didn’t make the outfit look any better. She wanted to cry when she saw those glasses that hid her friend’s beautiful eyes. Sunny swallowed back her tears & managed a smile, “You don’t mean to go out like that, right?”

Tiffany nodded her head, “I just want to be myself, be like how I used to be before I met Oppa again. I had rather he & others make fun of me because of my looks than make fun of me of my nice new clothes & my supposedly cheating heart.” Those words stabbed into Sunny’s heart deeply. She shook her head, not understanding why people could be so cruel in this world. The majority of the university students gave rich families a bad name. Tiffany felt the change in the atmosphere surrounding Sunny, “What’s wrong, Sunny? Are you okay?” Sunny lifted her head back up from her thinking, “I just wish that I could stop those people from being rude to you again.” She took her hands into hers, “Because they should see you as the great person you are inside & out, rather than from what you wear & judge you based on rumors.”

Patting her hands, Tiffany smiled, brightening up Sunny’s mood, “I will be fine. Now, let’s go, I know that the graduation is going to start soon. Siwon Oppa is probably frantic with worry right now because he hasn’t seen you yet.” Sunny blushed but laughed. She glanced down at her michael kors chronograph mini bradshaw blue & gold-tone stainless steel bracelet watch & saw that the time already said one thirty-eight. She gasped loudly, “Oh my gosh, the ceremony starts in fifteen minutes. We better get moving.” She led Tiffany out of the apartment & got into her car to head towards the campus just a eight minute drive away. When they got there, Sunny got out of the car first & helped Tiffany out. Together, they ran towards the concert hall. They got there just in time as the dean started his welcoming speech. They slipped into two seats in the back.

Siwon looked up as he heard the door in the back open & then close. He grinned widely as he spotted Sunny. He let out a huge sigh of relief & dug inside his robes to text something on his cell phone to her. Sunny felt her cell vibrate inside the pocket of her blazer & she giggled loudly as it tickled her. The people around her glared at her & she bowed her head in apology, “I’m sorry.” Tiffany pinched her in the side, “Hey!” Sunny protested. Tiffany just smiled, “Shhh.” She said, putting a finger to her pale pink lips. Sunny sighed & looked down at her phone, seeing that there was a text message waiting for her. She read it out loud quietly, “Look down.” It simply said. Sunny did as told & saw Siwon waving surreptitiously at her from below. He mouthed, ‘I missed you so much’ & put his hand to his heart to symbolize dramatically to what extent. Sunny smiled down at him but gave him a signal of pulling his ear as she gave him a frown. Siwon leaned his head on the shoulder of the person next to him & closed his eyes & stuck his tongue out, pretending to die. The guy next to him pushed him back up & Siwon smiled innocently at him. He pointed up the stands.

Jejung looked up to see what Siwon was pointing at, wondering why he was acting so weird. When he saw Sunny in the stands, he smiled knowingly & waved a small hand at her. She glared at him in return & looked away immediately. It didn’t take a genius to know who was sitting next to her as he looked to her side. He had already felt her presence when she came in & had spotted her before Siwon spotted Sunny but he controlled himself from sneaking a peek but as he saw her now, he couldn’t help but stare at her, ‘She looked so thin.’ He thought immediately, worrying if she was eating well, thinking about what his parents said that morning, ‘Stop it, Jejung Kim Jaejoong, stop thinking about her. She’s not worth it.’ He looked away & paid full attention to the dean. As his name was called, he got up & got his diploma, smiling widely as he waved his arm in the air, “I finally did it, Miyoung.” He said quietly, without even knowing it. His smile died as he realized he did & he turned his tassel to the other side & walked back to his seat.

“Jejung Kim Jaejoong.” Tiffany heard the dean cry out. Her heart started beating faster as she reached for Sunny’s hand, squeezing it tightly, “It’s Jaejoong Oppa.” She smiled so brightly that Sunny couldn’t help but smile back, “He finally did it. He finally made it.” Tears came to Tiffany’s eyes. She was happy beyond comparison. Sunny was so busy staring at Tiffany’s happy expression that she almost missed the dean calling out, “Choi Siwon.” He practically skipped to the front as he went to receive his medical PH.D from his honor advanced cellular biology class professor. He waved his degree in front, looking straight to the back to where Sunny was. As he was walking back to his seat, he blew a kiss to Sunny who caught it & held it to her heart. Jejung watched the couple happily, wishing bitterly that it was him & Tiffany. As he looked away, he saw many girls blowing kisses at him & he smiled at them all. When he looked up at Tiffany again, he noticed that she was still smiling peacefully, looking straight at the front where he was.
