Unravelling
Whispers of Fire
Kiseop dragged you outside with him, doing his best to suppress the wide grin spreading on his face.
“Where are we going?” You asked, not protesting to him dragging you along.
He said nothing, the silly smile still plastered on his face.
“Wait...” You caught sight of different surroundings. “Why...Why are we going into the human world?”
“Just wait.” He pulled you with him into a corner and you gasped as he pushed aside a few low hanging leaves from the trees.
He had brought you into a quiet clearing in the human world.
It was a soft, grassy area, large willow trees shielding it from the sun. The trees’ leaves hung down, almost touching the fresh grass on the ground, still covered in a bit of the glistening wet morning dew.
“Come on.” He said so softly to you that it was almost a whisper. Tugging you gently with him again, he lead you to a large patch of clovers and sat down, pulling you down with him.
You giggled softly, running your hands through the wet grass, smiling as you admired the dew glisten in the sunlight on your thin fingers.
Kiseop smiled at seeing your own smile and let his eyes travel out and land on the familiar green landscape in front of him, the drops of dew on the ground seeming to sparkle and glisten in the bit of sunlight that had managed to escape the large, soft branches of the willows.
“Do you come here a lot?” You asked curiously, staring at him.
Kiseop rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish smile. “Yeah. I guess you could say that.”
You playfully poked him. “I thought werewolves weren’t allowed in the human world very often.”
He shrugged. “I’m an alpha. I can do whatever I want.” He turned his head to smile at you confidently. “And soon, you will be an alpha too.”
You turned red, looking away. “I’m not so sure about that.”
“You might not be sure,” He turned back and flopped down on to the damp grass. “But I’m pretty sure.”
You sat up and hugged your knees closely to your chest and sighed, gazing out.
Kiseop sat back up.
You leaned over and let your head rest on his side. “I don’t really want to do the fight.” You said finally.
Kiseop didn’t say anything, he sat there, waiting for you to continue.
After a long pause, you began speaking again. “Even though I don’t really get along with Sun Hee, I don’t want to get her banished either.”
Kiseop continued to stay silent.
“I...I don’t want what happened to Hana happen to Sun Hee.”
Kiseop snapped his head to the side in surprise.
“But I wouldn’t mind if it happened to me, as long as it’s for good.” You said quietly, finishing.
Kiseop’s eyebrows furrowed. “How do you know about Hana?”
“Uh...Nana. She told me.”
Kiseop shook his head. “She wasn’t supposed to.”
“Well, I asked her too.” You replied quickly, defending Nana. “Wait...Why wasn’t she supposed to?”
Kiseop looked out into the green landscape again, his eyes lingering over the graceful, old willow trees. “When Hana was still alive and in our school, she had many friends. But she also had one particular close group of friends. Nana was in it.”
“What about you?”
“Kind of...I guess you could say so.” Kiseop sighed. “Well, after she died, we all vowed to never speak of it again, especially to any new students that came to Dal’s.”
“What? Why?”
Kiseop sighed again, but this time, his sigh seemed to be heavier. “Most people thought she was banished. Only her close group of friends knew that she had actually died.”
You in your cheeks, biting down on the insides.
“After the entire incident, the friends split up without Hana to bond them all together.” Kiseop said at last, his words hanging in the air.
You imagined what Hana must of been like.
She must’ve been pretty, since she was popular.
And nice too, right?
She probably had many friends, unlike me obviously.
She was powerful too, wasn’t she?
Was she on good terms with Sun Hee?
Or was she archenemies with her like I am right now?
Plus, wasn’t she dating Dongho?
Nana’s words suddenly popped up in your mind.
But now that I think of it, you look a lot like Hana.
You shivered, wondering how alike you were with Hana. “Then what was your relationship with Hana?”
Kiseop looked down, feeling a familiar hot sensation burn behind his eyes. “She was my sister.”
