It was about two weeks after that I started living my everyday life again. I went to school, talked to Ji Eun, and even spent some time catching up with EXO and K-Pop in general. Every week or so, some, if not all, of the EXO-K boys would come visit on their free day. Some times I would go over to their place instead, to get out of the lonely house.

It was hard getting over my mom’s death and even though I stopped crying myself to sleep a few days ago, the nightmares still remained.

The only reason I stopped crying myself to sleep a few days ago was because Luhan called me from China after finding out from the K members that my mother had passed away. It was late but he stayed on the phone with me the entire time, even singing me to sleep despite having a schedule the next day.

I couldn’t help but let out a small grin every time I heard his voice, saw his face, or even heard his name. He was so perfect, what did I do to deserve a boyfriend like him?

“Yoonae...you’re spacing out again.” I looked up at Ji Eun who was sitting across the table from me in our usual cafe.

“I-I’m sorry.” I mumbled, a blush tinting my cheeks.

“You were thinking about Luhan again weren’t you?” I tried to hold back my grin but it slid through anyways. I nodded.

“When are they coming back anyways?” She asked me, taking a sip from her drink.

“Not until the end of May.” I told her, disappointed by the sad sad truth.

“I see...Anyways, as I was saying before, why don’t you stay at my place? I mean, it must be hard to pay rent and all and I can’t imagine you possibly being able to keep up with cooking for yourself much longer.” Ji Eun suggested while teasing me at the same time. I was used to it though.

Honestly, it wasn’t like I haven’t thought about it before. It didn’t take a math genius to find out that with the mortgage I had to pay for my house, and the groceries, and my tuition fee and all the other necessities, my non-existent income would lead me to nowhere but the streets.

I shook my head and smiled up at her. “I don’t want to burden your family or anything-”

“As if!” Ji Eun retorted but I quickly continued with my excuse.

“-and I really have enough saved up for now. I was planning to sell the house and renting a small apartment in a bit anyways, the memories are just really hard on me, I can’t live there anymore.”

“But where are you going to get the money?” Ji Eun asked almost rhetorically, but like I said, I already thought about it all before.

“My mother had life insurance that can cover my tuition for at least the next year or so. Maybe two. Also, after I sell the house, it’s enough to cover at least 3 months of rent for me so as long as I find a part time job soon, I will be able to support myself afterwards.”

“B-But I want to help and-”

“You have helped me so much. Thank you Ji Eun, really, I couldn’t ask for a better friend.” She opened , about to argue again when luckily, my phone rang.

“Yobeosaeyo?”

“Yo shorty.” I rolled my eyes. I didn’t even need to check my caller ID.

“What do you want Kai?” I asked, pretending to be angry with his name calling.

“Oh? You’re finally talking back again? Awww I missed the docile midget.” His comment was immediately followed by scolding in the background.

“Yah! Kim Jongin you ungrateful brat! How could you be so rude?” Baekhyun yelled. “Give me the phone!”

“Aish hyung! Let go! Alright! Alright, I’m getting to it!” I could imagine Kai holding the phone well above Baekhyun’s reach at the moment, the older struggling to reach for the device. I chuckled at the mere thought of it.

“Anyways, before I was rudely interrupted by Mr. Bacon,” I could hear Baekhyun letting out a frustrated “Kim Jongin!” in response to his comment.

“The other members were wondering if you wanted to come over tonight for dinner. We were supposed to have an outdoor shoot the entire afternoon but the weather isn’t on our side so they postponed it. Kyungsoo is making dukbokki for us and a bunch of grilled meat and stuff.”

“Just the other members? Not you Jongin?” I replied softly into the phone, for some reason, I did feel disappointed. I wanted to see him and as selfish as it seemed, I have been lonely these past few days without him.

“What?-Chanyeol-hyung! Can you quiet down please? I’m talking on the phone right now!- Sorry, what was it you were saying?” Jongin said after redirecting his attention to me. Thank goodness he didn’t hear me, it would be so embarrassing.

“Um...I was wondering if Ji Eun was allowed to come too.” I watched as the topic of discussion looked up at me in confusion.

“Yeah I think that’s fine. Chanyeol-hyung has been dying to see her anyways. Maybe if she comes it will shut him up for once.”

“Yah! Kim Jongin! What is that supposed to mean?” Chanyeol’s extremely deep voice screamed from the other line.

“Nothing hyung!” I couldn’t help but giggle at their childish behaviour.

“So...I guess we’ll be around then. What time is it best to go over?”

“I think everyone will be home by 7 so come then?” I took note of it and then said goodbye to him.

“What was that all about?” Ji Eun asked me with a knowing look on her face.

“EXO-K invited us over for dinner tonight. Kyungsoo-oppa is cooking.”

“Oh cool, then I guess we’re going?” I nodded, she didn’t seem like she was finished though. “Kai did something to you.” She mumbled.

I raised an eyebrow in confusion. “W-What?”

“You were laughing just a few moments ago, before you ended the call. You haven’t even cracked even a little chuckle in weeks now. He definitely said something to you just now.”

“I wasn’t laughing....that much.” She gave me an ‘are you serious look’ which I shrugged at. “He’s just a friend Ji Eun. Besides, I have Luhan.”

I guess that eased her a bit. “Right...prince charming.” She mumbled.

I let out a small smile before finishing the rest of my drink. “Let’s go now, we don’t wanna be late for class.”

With that, she groaned and we left the cafe together.

We arrived at the dorm at around 7:10. The moment the door opened, a giant figure came flying out and attacked Ji Eun before dragging her inside.

“So much for a greeting....” I mumbled to myself as I walked in. The living room was empty and the dining area was also void of people. I made my way to the kitchen as the delicious smell of grilled meat filled my nose.

“Annyeong Kyungsoo-oppa.” I greeted as I walked up beside him to look what he was cooking. He smiled over at me and reached one hand over my shoulder to hug me briefly.

“Yoonae, can you do me a favour? Can you grab those dishes behind you and help me set up the table please? Kai, Baekhyun, Suho and Sehun should be back soon. They just went out to buy some drinks.”

I brought everything outside and laid all the dishes out before returning for the cutlery. By the time I had finished setting up, the door slammed open and in came four very rowdy EXO members.

“Yoonae! You’re here!” Sehun cheered and came over to hug me. I smiled briefly and hugged him back before he was suddenly ripped away from my grasp.

“You were suffocating her.” Baekhyun complained before he wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

“Aish hyung! Stop hogging her!” Sehun complained before Suho managed to drag him away to put the drinks in the fridge for later.

Baekhyun led me over to the couch and sat me down before letting me lean against him. “How have you been?” He asked me like the overprotective ‘brother’ he claimed to be.

“Better I guess.” I mumbled in reply. “It’s just...it’s hard sometimes. When I’m alone all I think about is the past.”

He shifted so that his arms wrapped around me from behind, my head was tucked under his chin.

“I know it’s hard, but it will get better.” He said softly. It wasn’t the first time I heard that and honestly, it wasn’t until recently that I began believing it.

“So...I thought about moving out from the house and finding a part time job.” I told him, changing the topic very slightly.

“Really? I can help you find a place or ask around to see if there are any jobs available.” Baekhyun said. I immediately thanked him and turned around to give him a hug, somehow sending us off balance with resulted in me lying on top of him.

“Thank you. Thank you so much oppa.” I replied, smiling up at him. He grinned back at me.

“No problem.”

“Luhan-hyung isn’t going to be very happy about this.” I jumped out in surprise at the sudden presence of none other than Kim Jongin and almost ended up rolling onto the ground if not for Baekhyun’s arms around me.

“Jongin, stop bothering them.” Suho reprimanded from the dining room. “You obviously know that Baekhyun’s just trying to help Yoonae right now.”

“Sure, whatever hyung.” Kai rolled his eyes and stared at us for a brief second before walking off in a seemingly bad mood.

“What’s with him?” I mumbled. Baekhyun shrugged.

“Let’s go, I think dinner is ready.” We walked to the table where everyone was gathering. Ji Eun immediately ran up to me and took a hold of my arm.

“What’s going on?” I asked her, she was glaring at her boyfriend who could only smile back.

“He said he’s going to lock me up in his room if I talk to other guys today.” She told me, eyes never leaving him. Every step he took towards us, she took back, making sure to keep me in between.

I rolled my eyes at the childish couple. “As if he can lock you in there, Baekhyun shares a room with him you know.”

“Yeah, but I wouldn’t interfere with Chanyeol. Who knows what I would walk into if they’re in a room together.” Baekhyun said casually. Kai and Sehun who already started eating choked on their food, whereas Suho and D.O. were staring at Baekhyun bewilderedly.

“Ji Eun-honey, let’s eat now.” Chanyeol said as he continued to approach us. I took the opportunity to get away from Ji Eun’s grasp and sit between Baekhyun and Kai at the table.

“Yoonae! Don’t leave me!” Ji Eun shouted, dodging the hands of her boyfriend.

“Oh, Kyungsoo-oppa, this food is really good.” I said with a giant smile on my face. I wasn’t lying it was. I laughed silently to myself as I listened to Ji Eun struggling in the background.

A few moments later, Chanyeol managed to somehow pick her up, over his shoulder (which must have been quite frightening) and dropped her in a chair before plopping in the one beside her.

I watched as Chanyeol tried to apologize for his (apparently very scary) joke and pouted despite his very freakishly low voice.

“Say ahhh!” Chanyeol said. I flinched. That didn’t sound right coming out in such a low tone. But regardless, Ji Eun opened and let him feed her.

“Oh my gosh this is good! Kyungsoo-oppa you’re amazing!”

Chanyeol grinned at her reaction. Using food to distract her and make her happy again all at once. Park Chanyeol you are a genius.

“Yoonae say ahhh!” I turned to look at Baekhyun who was holding a spoon full of dukbokki for me. I smiled and opened my mouth for him to feed me, smiling contently when he did. Suddenly I felt a painful jab on my other side. I turned to glare at Kai.

“What was that for?” I asked him in annoyance. He shrugged and continued to eat his food as if nothing happened.

“Aish. Kim Jongin, such a jerk.” I grumbled. I felt another jab at my side and I turned to glare at him. He looked away as if nothing happened.

When I turned back to my food, he jabbed me again.

“Kim Jongin, stop that!” Thank goodness there was too much going on at the table for everyone to hear me, that would be embarrassing.

When he poked me for the fourth time, I slapped him back on the arm.

“What was that for?” He complained.

“Ugghh.” I deliberately turned my body away from him and started conversing with Baekhyun instead. Kai poked me again and I slapped him again.

This happened for a long while before I finally snapped. I punched him in the arm instead with maybe a bit too much force. He flinched and almost immediately, I felt bad. All the other members were watching us by now.

“Hey...he poked me first.” I told them, defending myself despite how ridiculous and childish it sounded.

They all laughed a bit before turning back to their food and returning to their previous conversations.

“Pretty strong punch for a midget.”

“Jongin shut up.”

“No.”

“Whyyy?”

“Why should I?”

“Because you’re annoying me.”

“It’s fun annoying you.” I growled and turned to Baekhyun.

“Oppa, can we switch seats?” Jongin grabbed my arm before I could stand up.

“I’ll stop now.” He said with the most serious look I have seen in a while. I sat back having lost my appetite after the long poke and slap war.

I heard the chair Kai was in screech backwards as he got up and headed to the kitchen. Not long after, he returned with two cups in hand.

“For you.” He said as he held one out to me. I inspected the contents and the straw he was holding as well.

“Bu....BUBBLE TEA?!” I couldn’t help but let out a giant grin despite gaining weird stares from around the table again. I put in the straw and took in a giant sip. I sighed in content when the liquid slipped down my throat.

“Thanks Jongin, you’re the best.” I said before leaning my head onto his shoulder.

“I thought you hated me just now.”

“I didn’t say such a thing.” I replied as I sipped happily at my beverage.

He just laughed and took my hand under the table, my face flushed red at the contact.

“I’m just glad you’re happy now.” He said softly so that only I could hear.
