“Yoonae! Did you hear?” My friend Ji Eun said as she caught up to me. “There’s a new group coming out from SM Entertainment!”

I stared at her as she squealed and rambled on about how hot the teaser photos and the new music video was. Meanwhile I couldn’t care less about who she was talking about. Somewhere in the middle of her rant, I realized that I understood which group she was talking about. EXO. I heard of them ages ago, back when the news was still fresh but in the end, I gave up on them.

“The first music video came out yesterday!” She cried, attempting to bring my attention back to the topic.

“That’s nice. I don’t like it though.” I replied.

“WHY?!” She screamed. I jumped back from the sudden outburst of her voice. Other people around us eyed us weirdly. “They’re so good!” She said in a lower voice.

I shrugged. “I guess I just got tired of seeing news about them. I don’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal about them. Sure, I was excited at first but they’re the same as any other rookie group.”

“You did not just say that!” She argued. “They’re so much better than ‘any other rookie group’. Did you even listen to their song? ‘What is Love?’”

“I did.” I replied. “Right when it came out. I listened to both versions. They sounded like DBSK. I don’t like it.”

“WHAT?!” She screamed again. I was pretty much prepared for it this time. “NO! Okay at least watch the first teaser, Kai is so hot!”

“Nah, I’m good.”

“Whyyyyyyy?” She whined. I shrugged and picked up my walking pace as the first bell rang, warning us to get to class.

“You already know why. I don’t like rookie groups.” I replied without a care in the world. “Maybe when they debut, it will convince me.”
