I can’t stop laughing and so did he! We slumped down on the sofa, clutching our stomachs. We giggled non-stop and then took a deep breath, which made us laugh again. Thank goodness our parents came out to the Family Room.

Dad: Jongin, we’re gonna introduce your parents to the neighbors. JiEun, could you take care of this young lad for the night?

Me: Aww Dad.. You know I don’t babysit. Do I get paid?

They all got the joke and laughed along.

Mrs Kim: Okay, we’ll get going. Kai, take care of this beautiful young lady. Okay?

She held his face and he smiled.

As they went out, dad whispered to my ears.

Dad: I’ll double your allowance.

He winked at me. I was jumping around and kissed him on the cheek. So, we were alone. It was rather awkward at first till I stood up from the couch and went to the kitchen. Kai followed.

Me: Want an ice-cream?

Kai: Hehe.. Sure.

I gave him a home-made Popsicle to him.

Me: Hmm, Kai? What, anyway, is your favorite flavor?

Kai: [Rubs hands] Hmm, do you by any chance have cherry flavor?

Gasp!

Me: No way! In my family, only I eat Cherry flavored – well, ANYTHING!

Kai: Me too! My mum loves durian and dad likes mint.

Me: Mine too! But just the other way around. Mum likes mint and dad LOVES durian.

Man, we have a lot in common. Who knows the guy I bumped into would have an exact same life as mine? After putting the Popsicle into his mouth, I pulled him out of the kitchen. He walked at the same speed as me and wrapped his arms around my shoulders. I interlaced that arm, leading him outside to the front porch’s stair.



We took a seat and looked up at the moon. It was a Full Moon.

I loved it. I was busy looking up at the stars and onto my Popsicle when I came in contact with Kai’s eyes. Straight in my eyes.

Kai: JiEun, do you think the moon is pretty?

Me: [Sigh] It’s gorgeous.

Kai smirked and said,

Kai: I wanna be best-friends with the moon.

Me: [Laughs] Go ahead. Not sure it can reply though.

Kai: Can we be, JiEun?

I thought, hey. It wouldn’t kill me to have a best-friend. For the first time. We both have the same personality and I love him already.

Wait, did I just said..?

Yeah, as a friend. Yeah! That’s is! Okay, so, it’s official.

Me: Okay then, best friends it is.

And I gave him a peck at the cheek.

I placed the slowly melting popsicle by my lips to it but then Kai just came forward to the other side. Right in front of me. Actually, we were considered kissing since our lips did touch, I’ve gotta say but I already treated him as a friend so it didn’t make my heart flutter at all. In fact, it felt quite platonic.

Kai: You finished it too slowly!

Me: Yeah, says the guy that finished my last bit when I was working on finishing it. Meanie.

We both laughed and continued looking at the moon.
