Chapter 3

My Everything

~ My Everything ~ Chapter 3~

Riin unconsciously had another year gone by her swiftly. All years she had devoted herself in her work and part time jobs that she never realized another year had passed. It was like an obligatory routine of hers in order to repay her stepfather’s debts. Meeting Yoochun somehow changes her life a little. Adding in another person into her picture of life, she can’t help but to find herself falling for him deeper as day passed. She knows she can never get rid of him, wonders what would happen if he is to leave her. Riin feels safe to have him by her side throughout this time but saying there’re no worries upon this love of theirs, definitely it is all lies. They thought this love would be everlasting as they have not been up and down nor they have locked in a hurricane argument. Perhaps it was this calm and plain process that had leads them came to concern a little. Never has this come to their mind that there is a huge stumbling block stood firm ahead them.

“Riin,” Yoochun wrapped both his arms around her waist as he kisses her shoulder. “What are you doing?”

“Cooking you a dinner,” she turned a little to meet his eyes.

Leaning on the kitchen counter, he chuckled teasingly “you can save that. Nothing will turn up a success, trust me.”

“Yah…” she turned to him with her pouting lips, “I’m being so good here to cook you something right after work, you ought to appreciate instead of sneering me in that way.”

“Okay, okay” he lifted his hands in surrender, “you’re tired enough after a whole day long of work, you should have some rest. Leave the remaining things to me, okay.”

“You do know I was never an obedient girlfriend, don’t you?”

“I beg you. Look at those eye bags takes a nap, okay.”

-

“So how is everything?” Eunhyuk asked casually before seated opposite Junsu who is glancing through the monthly report from the Sales Department.

“Yoochun, he seems to be doing pretty well,” he uttered.

Eunhyuk rolled his eyes in annoyance, “I mean you and Heebon. What’s up with you and Yoochun? You seem to be rather mindful of his presence.”

He looked up and shot him a glistening glare. “Precisely, his presence really does bug me as if having million of needles poking my back. Me and Heebon, following the flow I guess.”

Shaking his head, he looked at him intently “Planning to go on like this? She would suffer a lot.”

“We never seem to have any future. It most likely, I’m never capable to give her anything not even a normal life that other couples owned.” He grabbed hold on his forehead by both his hand.

“Everything will be fine,” Eunhyuk gives a squeeze on his shoulder. “It’s just a matter of time, I believe.”

-

Yoochun’s hand trails her jaw line then resting his finger on her lips feeling her warm breath. It soon woke her up. She stirs opening her eyes lazily. “Getting late…I shall make my move. I’ll just pack the dinner home.” She drew herself from his bed and got up.

He very fast grabbed hold on her wrist, “Not intending to stay for the night?”

Drifting away from him, she smiled mischievously “You know, I’m a chaste lady and your wish won’t seem to be granted easily.”

“Jang Riin,” he gently pinched on her cheek. “I’ll send you home.”

-

“Grandma,” Jessica looked up at the temple before her. “How come you want to come here?”

Smiling warmly, “Here live an old lady who could tells you what lays ahead you. She is a Japanese Korean born lady; a friend of mine who I’ve not met for a quite some time that I didn’t know how long had it been.” Madam Kim explained. “We’ll see if they really are a destined pair.”

“I see,” the old lady in ivory nun apparel turned around to meet with her two guests stood before the main hall of the temple entrance. “I know the Kim would visit but never thought it was you.”

“It’s been a long time,” Madam Kim smiled.

“And that’s Jessica-ojou,” she looked over to Jessica and she bow in respect; brow frowned in confusion the moment Jessica hears an unfamiliar language.

Her grandmother noticed, “It means princess.”

Jessica just smiled. They headed towards the veranda not too far away from the temple main hall with a great view of mountains. Two of that lady’s followers placed down the tea and leaved.

“Here is the two person’s date of birth,” she placed a small piece of paper, pushing it towards the lady side. Jessica just stood still at the back of her grandmother anxious with what the lady up to say about the fate and destiny of those two persons which one she love and care the most.

Moving her few slender fingers, a smile unexpectedly crept on her face. She placed it down and brought up her head to face Madam Kim. “This is the one. The right person you have been searching for.”

Her lips curved up half satisfied half relieved by the answer she had heard from her best mate back in since middle school. She got up from her seat and walked away from the veranda towards the pond of water; leaving Jessica with the view of her back distancing from her further and further.

Jessica turned to face the lady, “How sure are you? What if you make a mistake, people do make mistake and if you does, you may ruin my oppa’s whole lifetime.”

The lady laughs lightly to the young lady’s worries that stand before her. “Although there might be a few stumbling blocks ahead them, but they are compatible though. The beginning they might not realized how lovable they may be, however, after occasions it would be noticeable and undeniable. Hence, the compatibility of these two persons…perhaps it was the most compatible I’ve ever seen all these decades.”

Jessica remains silent. She wishes to reply back so that the lady before her could change her words that could lead her brother to a different road of life, but her lips were sealed.

“Young lady, in fact you’re right that I might make a mistake. But I’m certain I’ve not in this case.” She stood up, placing a hand on Jessica’s tensed shoulder, “nevertheless, the process in searching the truth for them will be really tiring, frustrating and weakening someone and perhaps hurting her pretty much.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’ve said far too much,” the lady makes her way back to the temple before telling Jessica one last sentence. “You’ll know soon and do not force yourself too much follow your heart. If it is a no means no, you can’t be forcing yourself doing something you didn’t want, young lady.”

Her last statement had awakened Jessica from her small little world. All this while, she had been doing each and every thing the family had asked her to without any objection but obediently. She thought for a moment, is it the time for her to voice out her only wish?

Pacing over to her grandmother, she held on her elbow “Heomoni, are you really going to arrange a marriage for Junsu oppa? You’ve found that person?”

She nodded her head.

“But this has not done long ago, didn’t it; you all have not done this to Yunho oppa and Changmin oppa why now doing this to Junsu oppa? It’s not easy to find a person you truly love.”

“Junsu is the heir to the Kim family and selecting the right person is the utmost thing. Since he couldn’t find the right one, we as the elder ought to do something. Heebon is not suitable for him I wish she was but it just didn’t turn out the way it should.”

“Was it that lady who told you Heebon unnie isn’t compatible to Junsu oppa that made you come to such a decision?”

“Indeed,” she entered the car without furthering that sort of argument with her granddaughter.

-

“Park Yoochun-shi,” Mrs. Jang placed the coffee mug down after sipping it. “I know you treat my daughter very well.”

“Is there anything Mrs. Jang you wanted to tell me?” Yoochun could sense the peculiar behavior of Riin’s mother.

“Okay, I guess you read my mind very well.” She clasped both her hands and placed it on the table while looking straight to Yoochun. “Frankly speaking, my dear Riin was arranged for a marriage with the Kim Family when she was only an embryo in my tummy. I hope you understand what I meant here. To make it clear, I want you to leave my daughter for a better future.”

It stunned Yoochun in silence. He was utterly confused by the sudden facts that Mrs. Jang had stated to him that he hardly could say anything. His mouth open to response but to find words fade in the air to nowhere.

“I don’t mean you can’t give my daughter a future perhaps you’re only not better than the Kim. He’s the heir to the family business and you are only a nephew of his father of course I would prefer my daughter being married with a person who has a brighter future. In fact, we’ve met the Kim and everything had been decided; there’s no turning back.”

“Will you reconsider it if Riin is about to steps her foot into a life which filled with no happiness?” he looked up to her defiantly as if challenging her in some way. “Would you prefer your daughter to have true happiness or a fake one that wealth which could trap your daughter in a vase that filled with only hurt, won’t you change your mind a bit?”

“Nonsense” Mrs. Jang fumed as she stood up with both her hands tapped against the table roughly. “In this world there is nothing money can’t settle and I’m sure that guy could give Riin the happiness she craved and no one else could but only him. Come to your sanity, she’s never your type and don’t you dare ruining her life. You better made it clear and stop bothering her, if you really do love her. Don’t hinder her way to blissful life.” She reprimanded before leaving Yoochun alone.

He restlessly leaned against the backseat. It was so sudden that he can’t consume and it was like a hurricane that strikes him. Kim, he wonders would it be Jaejoong that his grandmother had arranged her to marry to. Definitely it would not be Junsu given his stubborn attitude. He was almost certain to that. If it was Jaejoong he could still accept but the thing is that he can never let go of Riin for she’s an angel who had captivated his heart. At that very first meeting of theirs, he knew she’s the one he’s in searching, for him it was love at first sight.

However he does know that once his grandmother had made a decision, there won’t be any way of changing her mind. Yoochun reaches into his jacket for a small pink box and as he opens it, the twinkling diamond ring was as if telling him not to give in. He pushed the thing closed and for now, he could only deludes himself into envisages he had in his mind all these nights that it might somehow really happen. Never did he know, once he let go of her hand, he would hands his one and only love to the coldest and heartless man in the Kim.

-

“Yoochun,” Riin waved her hand before him for quite some time but to receive no response from him. Her angelic voice awakened him from the bewilderment he locked in. “huh…”

“What were you daydreaming of, you didn’t even noticed my presence,” Riin took a seat next to him. “Why did you call me out at this late time?”

“There’s something I need to tell you and you need to know,” his face expression was solemn and that was something that bothered Riin.

She looked into his eyes and he seems to be avoiding her not even having a glimpse of her. “Hey, what’s wrong with you,” she nudged his arm whilst brushing off her hair behind her ear with her heart beating fast unconsciously.

“Riin, I’m sorry,” Yoochun had voiced out at last. He leans in having his arms resting on the knees, he continues his hurtful words “I can’t stay by your side anymore as it’s getting harder and with the objections coming from the elders, I’m not suitable for you.”

“Ajumma didn’t say anything about our relationship, did she?” Riin stood before Yoochun. He could see her hands quivering. “You have only one elder and what nonsense are you talking about?” she turned around only to face him with her back. Covering both her ears, she holds back her tears from pouring out, “I’m not listening to your crap.”

Holding on both her shoulders, he turned her around to face him. She could see the coldness in his eyes and it was this that pains her heart that she can no longer withhold the tears welled in her eyes.

“Listen, your background, it’s unacceptable to my family. In fact I can no longer keep it on as it’s really tiring. You have no idea to how much pressure I’m facing right now so please, leave. If you really do love me, leave me.”

The hand that clings on his arm soon loosened and dropped by her side in despair. “How could you be so cruel? At the very beginning my sanity has told me not to fall for you as you’re too far to be reached for me but it was you who approached me and made me fallen for you even my conscience is holding me back. And now you’re telling me to leave?”

“I was wrong and I’ve finally know I’d fallen for someone who I shouldn’t,” he said heartlessly not even having an eye on Riin.

“Understood,” she nodded her head time and again. “I came to understand the whole thing and really sorry having to bother you all this while, Mr. Park.” Gradually, she walked away from him. Her frail and fragile body makes the distant between them bigger and bigger. It pains Yoochun’s heart badly.

“Mianhe, Riin” a drop of tear landed on the sandy park a place where they had always been. A series of first time had created here. It was the first time he stole a kiss from her when she was drifted to a nap, it was the first time where he gathered his courage to hold her hand and it was the first place he had opted to propose her tonight. But it was all vanished in mist just in one night. He wonders, did he make the right choice or he had just leads Riin into a world of sadness.

“Riin, I’m only a chapter of your life” his head dropped, his heavy breath heaved against his chest. “You’ll be happy in the future. I’m sure Jaejoong could give you a better future in the remaining chapter of your book of life.”

-

“I’m back,” Junsu uttered beneath a whisper as he took off his blazer with the help of the maid who had stood by the entrance waiting for him.

“Oppa,” Jessica walked up to him with her brow furrowed. “The elders are about to storm you another problem.”

“Jessica,” her mother knows her daughter too well that she didn’t want her to be scolded in meddling in the elders matter. “Come here,” she said firmly.

“Junsu,” Madam Kim called with her dry voice. “We’ll talk about it in the study room.”

“Stay here and you’re not going anywhere,” Mrs. Kim reprimanded Jessica before following her husband and mother in law to the study room with Junsu by her side. The lady in her early forty looks at him as if sending message through her eyes telling him not to lose control and stay calm no matter what he’s about to know.

Closing the door behind her with a sound of click, Mrs. Kim joined in.

“After so many years I’ve finally found the Jangs and that your grandfather’s last wish can be fulfilled.” She smiled gratefully.

“I don’t get you,” his voice was barely above a whisper.

“You planned to leave with that lady, isn’t it,” she chuckled and it seem evil to Junsu. He just stood there and waits for her to continue. “Junsu, you’re to marry a girl name Jang Riin whether you’re to agree or not. All you need to know is that on September 9, you’ll be standing before the priest and voice out ‘I do’.”

“I’ve made myself clear, didn’t I?” Junsu looked up to his grandmother with a defiant stare. “Other than the woman named Park Heebon, I’ll not marry anyone else. Don’t make me repeat my words.”

“You…”

“Omma, get hold of yourself,” Mr. Kim held on his mother arm. “Junsu, it had been decided and you have no options.”

“What do you mean by no options, right in fact I’ve not have any since the day I stepped my foot into Lotte Group.” He turned to his father. “It was never a decision for me to make, wasn’t it? Because I’m the heir to this damn business and that’s why each and every one of you are controlling my life and even marriage you’re arranging for me. I’ll not nod my head obediently when come to this. Bear in mind even if she’s to marry me, she’ll only suffer.”

“I don’t care and all you need to do is marry Jang Riin!” Madam Kim ranted.

“Didn’t I make it clear, I’ll only marry Heebon and that girl why not ask father to marry her since you’re hoping to fulfill grandpa’s last wish.”

“Kim Junsu,” Mr. Kim raised his arm was about to slap him but was halts by his wife. She shook her head no.

“If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving” he turned around sauntering towards the exit but halted upon hearing his devilish grandmother’s voice.

“Heading to Park Heebon’s place, aren’t you,” she sounded daring in some way which sends Junsu goose bumps. “I’ll see what you’ll get…I’ve told you that this type of girl isn’t the right one for you and you’ll know it someday.”

Pulling the door opened, he stepped his foot out the study room to feel his heart palpitating trillion times faster than it was. He headed down the long flight of stairs which he had always come to hated it the most. Seeing his sister stood leaning one of the pillar crafted delicately, he flashed her, an assuring smile before leaving the mansion that filled with aloofness.

Speeding his ebony convertible in the road, he can’t help but to feel uneasy as if something precious is about to fray into nothing. As he reached their apartment, he exited his vehicle and ran towards the lift lobby but to see the lift coming down from the highest floor. Looking to his left, he opted to make his way using the stairs. Unlocking the door, he felt coldness coming out from the apartment. It was this place that had always given him warmness but from what he sees now, the void of presence scared him.

Scanning around the apartment he spots a creamy white envelope placed delicately on the coffee table with the petals of dry rose around it. He picked it up having the petals fall on floor. With his heart beating abnormally fast, he hesitantly opened it and went through the letter over and over again.

After reading the content of it, he had his body fell on the couch while losing grip of the letter that it flew in the air before landing on the floor. A drip of tear exited his eye, “Why did you leave without even giving it a try for once, Heebon.”
