Amber's Comfort
Lifetime HappinessAMBER's POV
I was awoken when a loud thunder sound vibrates in my room. I glanced on my digital clock on my side table. It is still 1 a.m. I shifted my eyes on the window and the light of lightning is flashing outside. The heavy rain is pouring outside.
"I think 1 a.m is still early for a party people to come home." I mumbled when I remember Krystal as I got up from my bed.
I tried to turn on my lampshade but I think the electricity is out. I lazily get off my bed as I grab my phone to use its light as my flashlight.
"I should have brought a bottle of water in my room." I sighed.
Only the sound of the thunder and lightning echoed inside the house. I head downstairs and I got startled when I saw a figure on the couch.
"Holy shi..." I cut my cussed when I recognize who it is."K-Krystal?"
I once again got startled when the thunder roars louder than before. Krystal who is sitting on the couch and hugged her knees tighter. I noticed that she is trembling then I remembered something. A flashback began playing inside my mind.
KRYSTAL's POV
Ever since I was a kid, I really hate thunder and lightning. They scare the hell out of me. I feel like they are going to strike me if I move even a single muscle.
"Haish! You never changed!"
I heard Amber's voice and I slightly lift up my head to take a peek. He sat down beside me. I moved closer to him because I feel safe if I'm close to someone in the situation like this.
"How's the party?" he questioned me.
"Fine." I answered shortly. I'm still hugging my knees and hide my face.
"I thought you are still outside during this time."he spoke and scoffed.
"We decided to go home early."I replied.
"I see." he mumbled. "What is the nicest club here?" he spoke which made me looked at him. "I'm planning to visit one with my friends." he added with a grin.
"Friends?" I questioned him with raised brows.
"Yeah! I should have fun with them too once in a while." he spoke.
"I don't know." I mumbled as I looked away.
"Hmmm, maybe there is someone among them who knows."He replied.
I got startled when lightning strikes again and a very loud thunder echoed inside our house. I quickly hug Amber beside me and laid my head on his chest. I heard his heartbeat, his loud heartbeat pounding on his chest. Hearing its rhythm made me calm down. It is so pleasant on my ears.
AUTHOR’s POV
Amber tensed up when Krystal suddenly hugged him. He never expects that his heart will begin to pound at this. He sat still, not moving a single muscle as he let Krystal lay her head on his chest. He tried to calm himself down so that his heart will go back to its normal beat. Krystal did hug him when they were kids every time she got scared in a situation like this but he didn’t have the feeling that he feels right now when she did. He put his hand around Krystal’s waist and let her stay in that position because he noticed she feel at ease.
‘I wish we never got separated.’ Amber thought to himself and curved a sad smile.
Krystal fell asleep in Amber’s embrace. She felt comfortable close to him as well as safe. When she opened her eyes again, she is now lying on her bed. She got up and realized that it is already morning. She head to her bathroom to take a bath and fixed herself before going out of her room.
“I wonder if Amber is already up.” She mumbled as she climbed down on the stairs.
She quickly scanned her gaze to the living room but she did not say the guy who usually is sitting there every morning. She slightly got disappointed about it. She head to their dining table and saw a prepared food for her. She noticed the note beside and read what was written on it.
Parents called, they are in Korea now. I’m going to fetch them on the airport. I think there is something crazy they want to discuss to us…again!
Krystal curved a smile as soon as she finished reading the note. She can imagine Amber’s frustrated and annoyed expression on his face right now. She ate the breakfast that he prepared for her.
Meanwhile, at the airport, Amber is patiently waiting for his parents. He scanned his eyes on the crowd who is exiting in the arrival gate. He flashed a big smile when he saw his Dad and Mom. His Mom quickly hugged him tight and his Dad pats him on his back.
“What brings you here?” Amber questioned his parents. He knew that his parents have something they wanted him to do in their minds.
“We will have a business meeting with the Kim’s here.” His Dad answered.
“Are you referring to the owner of that shipping lines company?” Amber questioned his Dad.
“Yeah! I’m thinking about investing in that company.” Mr. Liu answered with a smile. Amber just nodded his head in understanding.
“You should have brought Krystal with you, Honey.” It is his Mom’s turn now.
“She was still asleep when I left Mom. I don’t want to wake her up.” Amber replied to her.
“It’s already 9 when we contacted you to fetch us.” His Mom retorted.
“Well, she slept late.” Amber answered her.
“You should not let your fiancée to stay up late, Amber.”His Dad told him. “Anyway, I want you to come with me in our meeting with the Kim’s. Our family will be having a dinner with them tonight. You should bring Krystal along too.” His Dad continued.
“Okay.” Amber answered.
Evening came, Amber and Krystal enter the said restaurant where they will meet Amber’s old folks and the Kim’s family. Amber scanned the place and spotted his parents in one table with he assumes with the Kim’s family. His eyes settled in one guy, a very familiar guy who is seated in the table too.
“Aish!”he hissed in annoyance.
“What?” Krystal turned to him with questioned expression in his face.
“We are in the wrong restaurant!” Amber said using a pretend annoyed tone of voice.
He quickly grabs Krystal’s hand and dragged her outside with him. He knows that his parents will surely get mad and disappointed to him for not coming. But he prefers to face his Dad’s wrath than to put Krystal in an awkward and uncomfortable situation. He doesn’t want to make Krystal feel guilty about something she’s hiding from his family, especially to him.
