'You're joking...' Luhan was half laughing now, his body unable to process what had just been said and thus unable to function properly, 'please... Please tell me you're joking'

No words left Lay's mouth. Only a hand was raised to rub his eyes.

'Are you... Crying?' Luhan asked quietly

Lay didn't dare look at him. Eventually he was able to mutter a sentence.

'I shouldn't be crying over a girl, should I?'

His eyes were dry now but he still couldn't look at Luhan.

'I gave her to you to look after...' Luhan said quietly, trying to control his growing anger.

He knew that if he lost it at Lay, there would be more than an injury. The confined space meant there would probably be some sort of life-saving surgery involved if Luhan really did lose his cool. He was getting a lot better at controlling the bad side of his 4D personality but when it came to you, he couldn't bear to hear about people playing around and being immature.

'I gave her to you... And you tell me you now like someone else?'

Lay shook his head and shrugged, sighing deeply. 'I said I feel something for Huiling but... I don't know what it is'

'That's the single most idiotic thing I've ever heard you say. How can you not know how you feel?' Luhan retorted with a slight sting

'I... I don't know whether I just like her because she likes me and I... I don't have a chance with Haneul. Or if I really do like her. Either way, it's the end for Haneul and I.'

'... So... What you're saying is that you're giving Haneul up?'

'It's not fair if I pursue her when others like her. What if I really do like Huiling? I mean, just say I do actually like Huiling and I confess to Haneul first. Then I'll be stuck in the position of what to do. Or what if-'

'Listen to yourself!'

Luhan stood up and Lay followed suit, not wanting to be in a vulnerable position.

'What the hell happened to you whilst I was away? You were the one that constantly threw yourself in harms way for her. What are you doing giving up like this?'

'You gave her up, Luhan' Lay pointed out, 'tell me how you did it. How did you just forget about her like that? Tell me so I can do it, please,' he pleaded.

'Why would you want to give her up like I did? What's your reason?!'

'I... I...'

'See! You have none!'

'Well what's yours then, Luhan?!'

'I gave her up because I believed you would be better for her!'

A rock flew onto the balcony, narrowly missing Luhan's head. It landed on the metal balcony floor with a clunk and the two males immediately turned their head to see where it had come from. Of course, Tao was standing on ground level again, hands full with carrier bags of popcorn. 

'Keep it down!' He yelled before scurrying back inside to join the party.

Luhan sat back down and this time Lay didn't copy him.

'Take some time to figure out what you want, Lay. If you really do like Huiling then give Haneul up fully. Don't play around with the both of them'

He got up and walked to the door, about to leave when Lay cut him off.

'I... I don't want to be rejected by her' he said in reference to you

Luhan opened the door and shrugged.

'You're going to have to face the music sooner or later.'

Back in the dorm, it was cake time, again. Finally. The first attempt at cake time had been disrupted by Luhan and Xiumin's sudden surprise arrival. Kris took out the matches yet again and began lighting the 4 candles set into your cake. Once lit, Sehun switched off the lights and everyone stood around the table, singing happy birthday.

'3 cheers for the birthday girl!' Minwoo yelled, fist pumping the air

Hip hip! Hooray!

'Make fours wishes, Haneul' Seohee said, linking arms with Chen

'Four?' You asked, 'isn't it just one?'

'Four candles, four wishes.' Jenny said

'But be quick! It's melting!' Jinri added

You thought on your feet.

'I'll say them so you can help make them come true' you said. 'So number one...'

You glanced at Sehun and D.O.

'I wish that tomorrow God will be on my side so I can prove Sehun that actually, I can cook, and I'm not a dummy'

You blew your first candle.

'Second wish is that Suho can return quickly and be back at home with us.'

You blew your second candle.

'My third wish is that we can all do well in life.'

You blew the third candle out. Only one remained.

'And my last wish is... for truth...'

Tao smiled a little beside you. The others felt a bit guilty but that quickly washed over when you paused and bent down to blow out the final candle that had become almost just a little wax stump.

'No more lies. No more secrets.'

You blew out the final candle and everyone cheered.

The lights came back on and you were passed the knife. Looking around, you called Kai out to stand beside you.

'Help me cut it. Let's cut it together' you said

'Are you sure? It's your cake...'

You nodded and held the knife in your left hand. Kai placed his right hand over it and carefully manoeuvred the knife, splitting the cake into small pieces. Having Kai's warm palm wrapped around your hand made you feel oddly safe. Kai felt that this was exactly how it should be. 

The movie started and the popcorn was eaten. Baekhyun and Chanyeol took Maddie and Ah Ri to their apartment in Hongdae just after midnight and eventually, Aaron decided it was time for him to Jinri home too. Seohee had a car come and pick her up much to Chen's dismay but a quick kiss on the cheek sent him on his way. Jenny began to feel sleepy and so returned to her and Minwoo's room. Minwoo however stayed till the end and helped clear everything away. At about 3am, the dorm was almost tidy.

Popcorn was still littered all over the floor but that hoovering job called for another time. The empty bottles of soju were taken out to the trash by a sleepy Sehun. The dishes were washed by D.O before being taken over by an adamant Xiumin.

'Really, let me D.O'

'Thanks hyung'

Kai did a wipe down of the tables and Kris helped you carry your presents to your room.

'Huiling... Why don't you sleep in Haneul's room tonight?' Luhan said, 'because now that almost all of us are back, Kris shouldn't really stay out on the couch'

Lay and Kris could both see his intentions. Huiling could as well. She did like Lay after all. But she nodded without any fuss and Tao helped take her bag to your room. That night as you lay awake in bed, you could hear everything.

You could hear the clock ticking away in Kai and D.O's room. You could hear the soft snores from Chanyeol and Baekhyun's room. You could hear Kris' grumble from the room right next to yours whenever he stuck his foot out too far and it went off the bed. You could hear Huiling's soft and almost silent breathing. The moon was still bright as ever and it glistened on the H necklace, dangled around her neck. The light danced about on the silver edges, mocking and mimicking you. Shutting your eyes and turning away from her, you mumbled to yourself.

'Happy birthday mom'

My auntie and cousin share the same birthday and I've always thought it was cute. There's no real significance as to why I'm mentioning it was Haneul's moms birthday on the same day as Haneul's... I just thought it was rather sad in a way since her mom isn't alive anymore to celebrate their joint birthday together. 

Idk, I just wanted to end the series of 'Haneul's Birthday' parts with something poignant...

On another note: I have never seen so many long comments and so many comments containing the word poo. Legit spent about 45minutes reading everything. I love it! Thanks guys! ^^

And thank you for not completely deserting me but also being honest. I know a lot of you are disappointed but keep reading! This is a story with plenty of twists and turns! You never know what will happen ;)
