Trip
Unexpected Love
Ever since the day of the carnival, Kris and I actually haven't been fighting as much...well more like I haven't been hitting him as much; bickering took place as usual. We even willingly hung out with each other a few times. It was strange really, I don't even understand why I willingly wanted to be around him, I just did. Also, I was getting to know Kris' friends a lot better. There would be times where they would find me on campus to strike up a conversation or sometimes we would even have lunch together. They were a very strange yet fun group of boys.
I had just gotten home from the library, entering the house while chomping on an apple. I was about to walk up into my room when I noticed a familiar mop of hair from the couch. I walked forward and saw Kris sprawled out on the couch, seemingly lifeless. I waved my hand in front of his face to see if he was asleep. No movement.
I crouched down in front of his face and examined his facial features, taking a bite from my apple. I proceeded to poke his cheek, then his nose, and ran my finger over his eyebrow, tugging the ends a bit.
“You know I'm awake, right?” He suddenly spoke, making a small yelp escape my lips and the apple slip out of my hand.
“Aw, what a waste of an apple.” I mumbled in regret. Kris sat up and eyed me, “What were you just doing to me?”
“Poking you.” I simply answered without looking at him, only paying attention to my now ruined apple with a pout. “I had so much of it left.” Kris picked on the apple and placed it on the coffee table before pulling me up to sit beside him. “If you were left alone, do you think you could take care of yourself?” Kris suddenly questioned.
“Uh yeah, I've been left alone before.” I answered a bit confused at where he was going with this. I was 19, being left alone wasn't a scary thing.
“So if I were to leave you for a bit, you'd be okay? I wouldn't have to worry about you?” He continued to question, looking a bit uneasy.
“Yes.” I surely said.
“I have to leave for a bit.” He revealed.
“Leave? Where?” I questioned.
“I'm going to go see my family for the weekend, so you'll have to be alone.” Kris told with a worried expression. “You'll be okay, right?” I nodded, “Yeah. I've stayed alone before so I'll be fine.”
“Okay. I trust that when I come back, you won't be dead or anything.” He jokingly said but I could see how serious he actually was. I held up and O.K sign, “Guaranteed.”
