Chapter 41

My Enemy, My Lover in the Skatepark

Incoming call;
Bang Yongguk

With upset and watery eyes you watched the device in front of you vibrate in a way that made you nervous. Seconds turned into minutes and you remained sitting on your bed with your eyes fixed on your phone. You didn’t move nor did you have any intention on answering the call. What bothered you was that he didn’t gave up. Yongguk waited and waited for you to answer and like a stubborn person you are, you chose not to.

You were tired of his bull and didn’t have any interest in hearing his excuses. A single phone call wouldn’t help him even in his wildest dreams. He hurt you and humiliated you in front of everyone and that was something way over the line even for you. The moment Gyuri blurred out everything you didn’t want to believe her and deep inside wanted Yongguk to tell you that it’s not true but his response shocked you so much in the moment that you lost hope once and for all. Even though you wanted an explanation the minute he stood in front of you, that changed once you entered the taxi his father called.

In the end the text on the phone screen changed to ‘Call ended’ and you sighed in relief. He gave up. You closed your eyes and desperately tried to keep calm and convince yourself that you are fine without him and that he is not worth your time. The throbbing headache you were dealing with didn’t help the situation and your condition either.

With a defeated appearance all over your body, you slowly stood from your bed and with lazy steps, headed towards your door. You wanted some painkillers for your headache but also broken heart.

Just as you grabbed the door knob, a familiar vibrating sound reached your ears again. You furrowed your already angry eyebrows and turned around to look at the one object that you couldn’t stand this whole time since you came home.

“Don’t tell me he is calling again?” you said to yourself and walked over to your bed to throw a look at the screen. Once your eyes caught sight of that stupid name of his, you shook your head and picked up your vibrating phone up. “You already got what you wanted, what the do you want know?!” you shouted at the phone as he could hear you.

With a disgusted face expression you watched the phone that was now in your hands. You began wondering what would happen if you answered his call and let him oh-so explain himself. Your mind was screaming at you to just press the end-call button and throw your phone away but you heart told you the reverse. Your destroyed heart wanted a clarification to this whole situation that might even be full of misunderstandings but as far as you can remember, last time you listened to your heart, you were hurt and ended up crying in a public toilet.

“Game over, Yongguk,” you harshly spat at your phone and pressed that damn end-call button several times in anger, “Game freaking over.”

To avoid any further calls from him for the rest of the night, you flipped your phone around and pulled out the battery before taking everything and tossing it in the drawer to your night table. Without any further thoughts, you walked out of your room and towards the kitchen in hope to find something for your headache and maybe even something that could help you fall asleep tonight because you knew that, that would be hard as hell with all the thoughts circling in your mind.

And as you expected, your mind didn’t get to rest throughout the whole night and you felt like the next morning when Amber called you on your home phone to tell you to meet her up in the skatepark. She didn’t want you to be home alone and depressed because ‘why would only you talk bad about him when your friends would love to join you too’.

Her comment did make you chuckle silently once but that laughter was replaced by a sad face within a second when you thought back to him. He made your life a living hell because of all those emotions you had to deal with. It’s really hard to describe how you felt these days. Worthless, unimportant, used and above all…unlucky. The first time in your life, you felt unhappy as never before.

It wasn’t just the fact that you were together with the world’s best skater that made you lucky, but the fact that you managed to change that arrogant piece of to a more caring person. Or at least that’s what you thought.

Also the fact that he took his little game so far made you furious. You knew that he was a jackass but that was beyond your suspense. Knowing that he succeeded with his plan on you totally affected your self-confidence. I would take time to bring it back to the level it once were at but you didn’t know how long. However, you were sure about one thing;

“Never again,” you whispered to yourself as you locked the front door to your house and headed towards the bus station.

You didn’t felt like skating all the way to the skatepark and instead decided on taking the bus. It was quite cloudy outside and you could tell that rain was threatening to shower this beautiful city. Because of this not-so-typical summer weather, most people stayed at home for the rest of the day so the city wasn’t as crowded as it usually is.

While you were sitting in the bus and watching through the window at the scenery that you drove past, you couldn’t help but think back to Yongguk again. And you hated yourself for that.

Your thoughts went back to Yongguk and that who stayed behind in the U.S together with him. You wondered if they were sun-bathing together at the beach and laughing at the humiliation that you faced two days ago. Once again your heart silently cried in pain and so did your whole body. Today’s weather really did describe how you felt at the moment and how you saw life in general. Cold and dark.

“What’s up with that face?”

Startled from hearing a dark voice from beside you, you looked away from the window and to you right just to see Zico sitting there with his skateboard in his embrace.

“Huh?” you blinked away your tears that threatened to escape your eyes and travel down your dry cheeks.

“Your face,” he circled with his index finger around the body part he was talking about, “That expression… It’s not something I usually see on you.”

You looked past him and towards the open doors that welcomed more passengers before figuring out that he just entered the bus to see you sitting there deep in your own thoughts. You turned your attention back at him before shrugging and acting like it’s nothing.

“Guess I’m still jetlagged,” you said and mentally praised yourself for such an appropriate answer.

“Oh right,” he said with the hugest smile ever, “You just came back from America right? How was the trip?” he asked excitedly.

You cursed under your breath because of the situation God put you into before looking at him again, “Nice. It was fun,” you answered, clearly not referring to the last hour you spend there.

“Really? Sweet,” he nodded once, “Who won?”

Deep inside you knew that he would ask this question and you would be required to answer it but you still hoped for him to just not ask at all and leave you alone. Which was impossible.

“Bang,” you informed and quickly looked through the window so he wouldn’t see the hurt expression in your eyes once you mentioned the name of the guy who you will never see with the same eyes again.

“What? Are you kidding with me?!” he shouted out, earning glares from the older people in the bus, “Are you serious?” he lowered his voice and pushed your shoulder once.

That action made you look at him with the most serious face you could pull off which also startled him once he saw it.

“I take that as a yes,” he spoke in a low tone, “Wow, that guy really isn’t someone you can mock with,” you heard him say to himself.

You remained silent and just continued on staring out of the window, avoiding as much of the conversation as possible. Having Yongguk’s friends around you for now, bothered you to death. Luckily you weren’t far away from the bus station near the skatepark so you can get rid of Zico in a moment.

“Are you heading to the skatepark?” he broke the silence.

You just nodded as a response and didn’t bother on looking at him.

“I’m on my way to meet Yukwon and Kyung for lunch before skating to the skatehall on the other side,” he told you although you didn’t ask him, “Is Yongguk in the skatepark too?” he suddenly asked.

You rolled your eyes and shook your head.

“Oh, I was thinking to come by and see him if he was there,” he informed, “Where is he anyway?”

Just as he asked that question the bus approached the next bus station which also was yours. You stood from your seat and picked your skateboard up before turning towards Zico with an annoyed expression on your face, “Call him and ask yourself,” you rolled your eyes and walked to the door, “Bye Zico,” with that you walked out of the bus and skated the last part into the skatepark.

“Like I said, karma will kick his one day,” Luna said as a conclusion after a whole bunch of bad mouthing Yongguk and Gyuri.

“In that case, I would love to be responsible for that karma,” Amber said in a serious voice, “Show him who he is messing around with.”

The three of you were sitting in your hide-out next to the skatepark. It started raining not long after you arrived so you decided just to hang out in the old house that you haven’t been in for a long time. During the whole talk you had, you were the one who was silent most of the time. As much as you were mad at Yongguk, you couldn’t ignore your feelings for him. A human being doesn’t simply just go over a lover in two nights. You clearly didn’t want to have those feelings anymore but you couldn’t control them. Time would change everything so the only thing you could do was wait and suffer in this pain.

“Did he call again?” Amber arrogantly raised one eyebrow.

You shook your head while playing with the hem of your hoodie, “I turned off my phone and took out the battery.”

“Good girl!”

You rolled your eyes at Amber’s comment and turned to Luna instead. Her relationship was affected by this situation as well, only that it wasn’t as bad as yours.

“How are you dealing with this?” you asked her with a concerned voice.

“I don’t know,” she shrugged, “I’m still mad at him but I do want to know why he didn’t say anything to me the moment he saw that you were serious about your feelings.”

“Because he is a jerk too,” Amber spat out.

“I’m sorry,” you said to Luna instead, and ignored Amber’s comment.

“For what?”

“For everything,” you looked through the open balcony as your eyes watered again.

“Jin Ah,” she crawled up to you and sat down beside you with her back leaning on the wall, “Nothing is your fault.”

“Yes it is,” you nodded as more and more tears gathered in your eyes.

“How the hell can it be your fault?!”

“How? I fell for his fake personality, I fell for his stupid game, I fell for…,” you gulped down once and you felt one single tear fall down your cheek and onto your shirt, “…him.”

It was silent for a couple of seconds and you could see Amber rubbing her temples from the corner of your eyes. Luna sighed deeply once before hugging your shoulders tightly. That’s when you couldn’t hold your tears anymore. One after one drop left your sad eyes and ran down your warm cheeks. You lowered your eyes because you didn’t want them to see your face at the moment. You were so embarrassed to show this side of you but you couldn’t control your emotions. They were way stronger than you.

“Jin…” for the first time today, Amber spoke softly, before walking up to you, “Don’t do this to yourself.”

You didn’t say anything but just continued on silently crying into your arms in the same position you were in at the airport. Thinking about everything, you realized that none of those two had hope in Yongguk. Usually a girl always has that one friend who still has some hope but in your case, none of your girl friends had and that made the whole situation more realistic.

“I…” you looked up and quickly brushed away your tears before clearing your throat once, “I think I need some time alone,” you said and stood up from the ground to pick up your skateboard and head towards the door.

“Jin Ah…”

“I will call you, I promise,” you said and left the house before they could stop you.

It rained heavily outside but because of the condition you were in, you didn’t care so you just jumped on your skateboard and skated towards home, not giving a damn about the rain that soaked you to the bones. Nothing mattered anymore because you lost hope in everything.

The following three days weren’t any better either. Amber and Luna tried to call you out but after the day in your hide-out, you didn’t want them to see you cry one more time. You were still really emotionally unstable but somehow day after day you brain washed yourself into thinking that Yongguk isn’t worth all this. You needed to get back to your old self and with him in your thoughts, you wouldn’t be able to do that.

JR and JB also came back from the U.S and texted you a couple of times but whenever they wanted to meet you, you just pushed away every offer and told them that you needed some more time. You felt so sorry for JR because his sister put him into a really uncomfortable situation. He texted you ‘sorry about that witch’ several times and even though you told him that nothing is his fault, he couldn’t help but feel guilty.

Your parents began suspecting things when they noticed your unusual behavior but you just pulled the same excuse on them as you pulled on Zico. You told them that you were jetlagged and wanted some peace for a couple of days. Luckily they bought it so you didn’t need to worry about them.

Today, just like the past three days, you spend the whole day in your room watching cheesy dramas with happy couples. You laughed ironically at every little romantic scene and cursed your computer for all those fake moments you witnessed.

“Jin Ah!” your father knocked on your door all out of the blue.

“Yes?” you looked away from your computer and towards the door.

He slowly opened the door before sticking his head through it, “Can you do me a favor?” he smiled.

“What?” you eyed him.

“Mrs. Kwon is coming over for dinner and your mother just realized that we are out of bread. Can you go and buy some?”

Yongguk’s mother was coming over and you were here locked in your room because of her son. The irony of the whole situation almost knocked you over. You just begged to God that Yongguk didn’t say anything to his mother during one of their phone calls because knowing her, she would do anything to help her son. Especially after finding out that you were in a relationship with him.

As much as you hated everything that was happening around you, you still needed to remain calm in front of you parents.

“Dad, really?” you rolled your eyes and literally face-palmed yourself.

“Yes,” he said with a serious yet concerned face expression, “You can go and check yourself. I was shocked too when I saw that-“

“Okay!” you interrupted him, “I will go.”

You father chuckled at your irritated look and walked ahead of you to bring the money. Without waiting a second longer, you pushed your laptop away and walked after your father. After you received the money you needed, you took your skateboard and skated to the nearest grocery mart to pick up the stuff they needed and headed back home again.

As you skated back home and approached your house, you could see two figures sitting in front of your house on the sidewalk. An uneasy feeling took over your body and even your breathing became uneven. You didn’t like what you saw at all.

“He can’t be back already...” you whispered to yourself as you jumped off of your skateboard, placing it under your arm and slowly walking up to the people in front of your house.

Suddenly one of them turned their heads towards your direction and that’s when you recognized Zelo’s concerned face. He jumped up from the ground and shook the guy beside him.

“Hyung, there is she!”

The elder stood up and brushed some dust off of his clothes before facing you too.
It wasn’t Yongguk but… Himchan.

With furrowed eyebrows you walked up to the two of them and glared at them for a moment.

“I don’t know what he said to you but I’m not interested in-“

“Jin Ah… please,” Himchan interrupted you with a soft voice, “Just listen this one time. Please.”

The last time I read this story of yours, I didn't left a comment since I didn't know what to do nor what to say. But even after few years (I remember read this probably three years ago when it almost completed), it still left an impact for me. Truthfully this is one of my favorite story and the good written one. I always prefer the 20 chapters fiction and I remember that I need few days to finish read this one, and I have no regret after that (until now, heheh). I'd like to re-read again some time later in my free time since I miss BAP guys too ;)

Chapter 49: Omg! This was so damn adorable ❤❤❤
I loved the whole story and I had to try stop myself from crying whenever Jin Ah got sad...
Well. There are so many moments that were just so funny and made me laugh, so I loved them all. My favorite moment was... I think when Yongguk used the 'Jin Ah Slide' to win.
Just minutes before I read it I was like *oh I bet he's gonna use that Slide Jin Ah beat him with and if that doesn't work he might as well use his 'Mirror' killer-move* So I screamed out "Told u so" so loud XD
But all in all the whole story was cool from beginning til the end. Just loved them all - everything!
Thank you so much

Chapter 50: ♡♡
Aww. And I've come to the finale.
Too bad. I could keep reading this.
..It just got good too.
Thank you, author-nim!
I enjoyed reading this.
Even if my makeup ran a couple times from all the crying I did reading this.
..Though I'm wondering..JB and Yongguk only hated each other in the beginning because of their rivalry..right? Nothing personal.. .
