”Gukkie… , Y-your fa-father called.”

She dropped her head really low but didn’t cry this time. She didn’t say a word nor did I because the information I just received seriously was something I never expect to face. I kneeled down in front of her and took one of her hands in my before bringing them to my lips. We stayed like this for a moment because we really didn’t expect this to happen so both of us were pretty shocked. My father called out of nowhere after so many years.

“When did he call?” I asked gently, watching every movement of hers.

“And you are still holding onto that phone?” I stood up and snatched the phone away from her grip. She followed my actions with her eyes. I threw the phone on the other couch beside us and watched it from away. “I don’t need him in my life. In fact, I don’t have a father.”

“Gukkie…”

“No, mom. I don’t care about that man, we are doing perfectly fine without him! If he wasn’t here for us years ago, then we don’t need him now either.”

“I know Gukkie, I know. I totally agree with you,” she nodded.

“What did he say anyway?”

“He wanted to talk to you and he asked how we were doing,” her eyes didn’t leave the phone.

“Why? Why all of the sudden?! How did he even get our phone number?!”

“We still have mutual friends, so I guess he got it from them.”

“Bull. This whole situation is bull!” I walked around in the living room.

Suddenly, the phone started ringing. Both me and my mother eyed the phone, neither one of us moved an inch.

“It’s him, he said he would call later,” she informed.

“I’m not picking up that phone,” I said coldly and saw my mother reach for the phone, “And neither are you!” I shouted after her and hold both of her hands.

“We should tell him to sto-“

“No, we are not going to do a , do you understand me mom?” I held her tight. “We are not going to answer that phone because he doesn’t deserve it.”

The phone went silent again and the room was quiet. My mother and I exchanged looks before she rubbed her temples.

“Let’s just ignore him and forget that all this even happened,” I suggested and walked over to the kitchen to drink some water before going up the stairs towards my room. “I’ll go and take a nap, mom! I didn’t get so much sleep last night..”

“Okay, Gukkie. I’ll make some breakfast for you later,” she said from downstairs.

I walked straight to my bed and threw my body on it. I closed my eyes and placed my arm over them. I really didn’t like this situation at all. Sure he was my father and I loved him when I was a little kid but now everything changed. I don’t trust that man anymore. I can’t stop wondering why he called out of the blue. What does he want from me?

My head started aching and that was a sign that I needed to sleep a little bit. I can try and figure things out later when I wake up.

Your P.O.V

“Jin Ah, seriously now you can’t ignore me for the rest of your life?!” Hoya walked after you to your room.

“Really? Okay, watch me,” you closed the door right in front of his face and went to your bed with a bowl of snacks.

“Oh, come on!” he said before opening the door and walking into the room. “I’m sorry if you didn’t like it but I just wanted to help you!”

You surfed around on your laptop and continued on ignoring his presence. Hoya sighed after a while and walked over to sit on your bed. He watched you mind your own business and waited for you to look at him, but that never happened. Suddenly, he shut your laptop right in front of your face.

“What the hell did you just do?” you asked him through your teeth. You didn’t have anything important ongoing so it wasn’t a big deal. But shutting the laptop in general annoyed you to the end.

“I said I’m sorry,” he looked really sad but his fake pout destroyed everything. “I don’t like it when you ignore me. Please scold me instead!”

Your eyebrows connected, “You really want that?”

He nodded like a little kid and you just rolled your eyes at that. You kept on eating your snacks while looking at the laptop that was now turned off. “You let me down as my cousin…” you started off calmly.

“I didn’t know you wou-“

“How?! I already told you that I and Yongguk alone isn’t a good combination!” you raised your voice.

“Come on Gin, everyone can feel that attraction between the two of you…”

“No, and you know why? Cause there isn’t any!” you lied.

“You’re a horrible liar… and actor,” he arched an eyebrow.

You looked away from him and tried to keep calm. “You know what. Whatever. What happened already happened and we can’t take back the time. The only thing left is for you to take the consequences.”

“This isn’t fair. I was just kidding with you but clearly you don’t know what a joke is,” he stood and slowly walked towards the door. “I wanted to make up everything by being with you even more but you just don’t want to give Hobaby another chance.”

A small smile crept onto your face because of the nickname he just used. It was a nickname that you came up with years ago when the two of you were still kids and you fell of your skateboard and started crying over the pain in your knees and elbows. That day Hoya tried to help you but ended up crying with you because he felt bad for not being there for you. A couple of days after that when you brought up what happened, you mocked with him and his behavior and Hobaby just slipped out of your mouth.

You are the only one to call him that ever and you do that from time to time. When he used that nickname just now you couldn’t help but think of all the memories the two of you shared and all the situations where you used that nickname and he hated it. Yet he used it just now. That’s when you realized that you couldn’t be mad at him. He was like your real brother and you loved him no matter what. Not even an arrogant Yongguk could ruin the relationship you and Hoya had.

You took a deep sigh and finally looked at him, “You win,” you almost whispered that.

“Yes!” he shouted and ran up to the bed just to jump on you. He sat on your back and attacked you with his fingers and tickled you everywhere. You were really ticklish and couldn’t bare it when people did it on you. You hated it so much because after just minutes you would start crying while still laughing. When it came to tickling, you could call it your weakness.

“Hoya stop it! Enough! I’m dying… Please… just s-stop!” you laughed but hated your life right now. “I’m begging you… just please… in the name of God… stop it! Mom!” you shouted the last part and that’s when he jumped off of you.

“See this as a payback,” he laughed.

“Payback?!” you widened your eyes and opened your mouth in shock while brushing away your hair that was all over your face because of the attack you just received.

Hoya started laughing and ran out of your bedroom in attempt to escape. “Lee stupid Howon!” you shouted and ran after him.

For the rest of the remaining days that Hoya stayed over in Seoul, the two of you did everything possible. You explored Seoul on your own and even got lost a couple of times, you drove all the way to the skatehall on the other side of the city, you hang out with your friends and Dongwoo sometimes and just chilled at home.

You noticed that the skate park’s renovations are slowly but surely coming closer to an end. You couldn’t wait to bring out your skateboard to the park again and skate away. You missed the space and the different ramps.

Another thing that you noticed is that you haven’t seen Yongguk in a while. Even when everyone hung out at different places, he wasn’t there. The weird part is that even his friends didn’t know where he was or why he didn’t accompany the gang. At one point you suspected that something strange was happening with him but it’s none of your business so you just dropped that subject.

You were now in your father’s car on the way home after a nice dinner with your parents and Hoya. You spend the entire evening at your mother’s favorite restaurant where the four of you had a nice time and enjoyed the delicious and somewhat expensive food. After a very busy and chaotic week, your parents finally found some time to spend with you and Hoya.

“Tomorrow is the day I leave,” Hoya started off from the seat beside you, making you turn your attention to him.

“Wow..” you let out together with a sigh, “Told you that time flies by really fast.”

“Wonnie, you can always visit us on your breaks,” your mother suggested from the passenger seat.

“Thank you, auntie. But I don’t think I can do it on the small breaks I have. Summer break is the perfect time to visit Seoul,” he informed.

“Is university life that hard?” asked your father.

“Well, I just finished my first year so yeah. It’s different from high school, but it’s worth it in the end,” he explained and then turned towards you, “Aren’t you starting your first year in college now after summer break?”

“Yeah,” you lowered your head, “So not ready for it.”

Hoya laughed at your comment and ruffled your hair. Just then your father pulled to the right where in no time your house was in sight. It was already dark outside and the four of you walked into the house. Hoya decided to go and take a shower before packing all his stuff. You on the other hand were to lazy to do anything and instead walked to your room to lie down on your bed. It was a very calm night which automatically activated your thought. The first thing that popped into your mind was Yongguk. You didn’t understand why but you wanted to know what was going on with that guy these days. You haven’t seen him in a while and that kind of bothered you too.

You walked over to your window and looked over the road where his house was located. The lights were on in some rooms and you saw the light in Yongguk’s room being turned off. You eyed his window and just minutes later you saw him leaving the house with his white skull mask and his skateboard. You widened your eyes and felt a rush go through your entire body. You wanted to follow him and see what he was up to. Immediately you took your red face mask and your skateboard and opened your window to climb out.

Time to face the reality.

***

After following him for a while, you ended up on a huge rock that was located in the height and from there the view was amazing. You hated the fact that it was so high but the view was worth it. You could see Seoul and its different beautiful colors in the night.

Yongguk jumped off his skateboard and walked a bit before sitting down on the ground with his leg close to his body and his arms resting on his knees. You stayed little further away and watched him just sit there in silence. He looked forward while resting his head in one of his hands. ‘

Something is wrong.

Although you followed him all the way to this place to find out what was going on, you still didn’t dare to interrupt him.

“What do you want?” Yongguk said out of nowhere while still looking over the city.

You looked around to see if he was maybe talking to someone but there was no one in sight. You widened your eyes and gulped down your own saliva.

“Now that you followed me all the way to the top of Seoul, you might as well sit down…. Or you can just go home,” he looked down this time.

You were totally busted. You bit on your lower lip under you mask and started slowly walking towards him. You sat right next to him and you two stayed like this for a while, just sitting there and watching the city.

“Why did you follow me?” he asked in the end.

You didn’t look at him and just shrugged at his question. You didn’t have a real answer to his question. There wasn’t a reason you did it but at the same time, the list of reasons why you followed him was long.

“I know… You missed me, that’s why,” he said and laughed through his nose while taking off his mask.

“Tsk, you wish,” you commented arrogantly before taking off your mask.

“Actually,” he said it in a nice way making you turn to him and face his smiling face.

“What’s going on?” you asked instead.

“What do you mean?”

“I don’t know, something is wrong with you. I haven’t seen you in days and now you’re acting strangely,” you shrugged.

He shook his head before lowering it again. A sad expression was glued on his face. “You won’t understand it,” he whispered.

“Test me.”

He looked up at you with his sad almost watery eyes, “It’s my father.”

“Your father? Where is he?” you played dumb. You already knew the story behind Yongguk’s parent’s relationship but wanted to hear it from him.

He laughed through his nose once again in disbelief, “Don’t play dumb. I know that Amber told you everything about him and my mom.”

“What makes you think that?” you tilted your head to the side.

“Girls. You tell each other everything,” he rolled his eyes.

“That is not true,” you said coldly.

“Oh really?” he asked ironically, ”Please… I know how girls work okay?”

Your eyebrows connected at his statement, “Look at you, bragging and everything,” you said before looking away from him, “For your information, I never told anyone about our ‘secret night’ where you helped me with my phobia.”

You could see from the corner of your eye that he looked at you right after what you said. He titled his head to the side while rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. Not wanting to break that nice moment where you kind of owned him, you kept on looking around.

After a while, he started telling you every single detail of his parents’ break up and how he ended up in Korea. You heard the story already but not as detailed as he told you. He then told you what happened the day he came back from the barbeque night and how his father kept on calling everyday.

“I’m feeling like a piece of right now and don’t know what to do,” he buried his face in his hands, “I don’t want to talk to him or even see his face, yet there are like a thousand questions I want to ask him.”

“Why don’t you do that then? You have the right to get answers to your questions. He was the one who put you in a really hard and complicated situation. Especially for a five year old little boy,” you commented.

“I’m afraid…” he whispered.

“Afraid of what?” you asked firmly.

“Afraid of… I don’t know. I’m just afraid that the situation might get out of hand and I might go insane.”

“Bull, you’re stronger than that. You know how to control yourself.”

He just shrugged at your statement and started playing with the small stones near his foot. You followed his actions with your eyes and the two of you were silent for a moment.

“Have you told the others about this?” you broke the silence.

He looked up and made a thinking-face for a moment before turning towards you. “Not really. I just told them that I need some time alone,” he explained.

“They never told me that,” you said to yourself.

“I told them not to tell anyone,” he added.

“Oh,” you nodded.

Suddenly you heard him laugh sarcastically. You turned to him and looked at him with a questionable look. “Man this ,” he said, “You seeing this side of me.”

You furrowed your eyebrows at this and just shook your head. “Your father is calling you after years and this is what you worry about?” you shook your head.

He didn’t answer at that so you kept on talking, “Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone. This can be another of these secret nights,” you suggested.

“Thanks,” he mumbled while looking right into your eyes.

You gave him a weak smile before joining him with his little play with the stones. You wanted to change the topic and immediately a question popped into your mind.

“I was wondering…” you started off, “Your tiger plush toy-“

“Shishi,” he interrupted you with a laugh.

You laughed too before continuing, “Yeah. It seems to be a really important toy.”

“You could say that,” he looked up to the stars on the beautiful night sky. “I learned how to speak really late and was not so social as a kid. I played a lot during my childhood and Shishi was my best friend at that time. My parents’ divorce was really hard on me so Shishi and skateboarding was everything my life was about at that time. I found comfort in these two things.”

A nod was everything he received as an answer from you because you didn’t know what to say. His actions, when you took the toy the first time you were in his room, now made sense and you couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. You didn’t know how he felt because your parents are like a newly in love couple despite their busy jobs.

You ended up looking at Yongguk’s face and its features. He looked back at you and the two of you stayed like that. No one said a word and you enjoyed his company. His beautiful eyes that glowed in the moonlight looked down at you with no expression at all. You looked down at his thick and plumb naturally reddish lips that parted a little. You could suddenly smell his natural scent that you could recognize from miles away. It was mild and comfortable. Your faces came closer and closer to each other and you really tried to fight the urge to capture his lips and feel them moving in sync with yours.

All of the blue, an ambulance siren was heard not far from the rock making you jump in fright and interrupting this moment you and Yongguk had. He immediately
looked away and you stood up gulping down before brushing of your pants from dust and small stones.

“W-We should g-go home,” you suggested and put your facemask over your mouth.

Yongguk nodded and followed your actions. In no time the two of you skated on each skateboard in the direction of your neighborhood. You were physically with Yongguk on your way home but mentally you were still on the rock facing his beautiful face.

God knows what could have happened after the kiss.

When you arrived in front of your house, the two of you exchanged a quick bye before going inside. Once inside, you let out a breath that you didn’t know you were holding in before Hoya walked out of the kitchen with a plate with fruits.

“There you are,” he said shocked, “Where have you been?”

“I…I was… I just skated around in the neighborhood,” you lied to him because if you told him the truth, hell would be about to explode.

“Oh, okay. Strange little bastard,” he laughed, “Come on, I made fruit salad for everyone,” he waved you over to the living room.

You smiled and nodded before taking off your shoes. Out of nowhere you felt your phone vibrate for a second. You picked it up and saw that you received a message. You opened it and saw that it was from Yongguk. Although you didn’t want to, you couldn’t help but smile from the message.

Thank you for another secret night. I needed this.

The last time I read this story of yours, I didn't left a comment since I didn't know what to do nor what to say. But even after few years (I remember read this probably three years ago when it almost completed), it still left an impact for me. Truthfully this is one of my favorite story and the good written one. I always prefer the 20 chapters fiction and I remember that I need few days to finish read this one, and I have no regret after that (until now, heheh). I'd like to re-read again some time later in my free time since I miss BAP guys too ;)

Chapter 49: Omg! This was so damn adorable ❤❤❤
I loved the whole story and I had to try stop myself from crying whenever Jin Ah got sad...
Well. There are so many moments that were just so funny and made me laugh, so I loved them all. My favorite moment was... I think when Yongguk used the 'Jin Ah Slide' to win.
Just minutes before I read it I was like *oh I bet he's gonna use that Slide Jin Ah beat him with and if that doesn't work he might as well use his 'Mirror' killer-move* So I screamed out "Told u so" so loud XD
But all in all the whole story was cool from beginning til the end. Just loved them all - everything!
Thank you so much

Aww. And I've come to the finale.
Too bad. I could keep reading this.
..It just got good too.
Thank you, author-nim!
I enjoyed reading this.
Even if my makeup ran a couple times from all the crying I did reading this.
..Though I'm wondering..JB and Yongguk only hated each other in the beginning because of their rivalry..right? Nothing personal.. .
