First Love - Part 2

Always Loving You

[Flashback]

Sunnee hugged Wayne's book as she went to the music room. From outside, he could hear Wayne playing his piano piece once again. She leaned on the wall, and listened to him play the piano. She smiled to herself as she peeked at him. "Why is he more handsome when he plays the piano?" she thought.

As Wayne saw him, he stopped playing the piano. "Sunnee?" he called. Sunnee looked up at him, and entered the music room. "G-good morning..." she said. Wayne stood up from his seat, and approached her. Sunnee held out the book for him. "Here's your book. Can... can I have my journal back?" she asked. Wayne nodded his head. He went back to the piano to take her journal.

"Here. Thank you for returning my chemistry book." he said as they exchanged books. "Thanks." she said shyly. "By the way, you take nice photos of flowers." Wayne commented. Sunnee was surprised at what he said. "And your flower doodles are cute too." he added. "You... you peeked at my journal?!" she said with a scared look on her face. She immediately opened her journal and looked at the pages. "Just the first few pages." Wayne said.

Sunnee let out a sigh as she pouted. "Now you'll think I'm a weirdo who likes taking pictures of flowers and doodling flowers..." Sunnee said sadly. Wayne smiled and shook his head. "I don't think of you that way. I think you're a girl who likes flowers too much. Your favorites are sunflowers, right?" He said. Sunnee nodded her head. "How did you know?" she asked. "Because most of the pictures I saw on your journal are sunflowers." Wayne said.

Sunnee just nodded her head. "I think sunflowers do suit you." Wayne said. She gave him a confused look. "What do you mean?" she asked. "Because you're so cheerful and always smiling. And because your name is Sunnee." Wayne said. Sunnee giggled at what he said.

There was a comfortable silence between the two of them for a while. Wayne was just looking at her while smiling. "I... I think I should go first..." Sunnee said shyly. "Then, I'll see you around, Sunnee. Thank you for returning my book." Wayne told her. "Thanks for returning my journal, too." she smiled as she told him. As she turned her back on him to leave, Sunnee couldn't help but smile at herself. She can't believe she was able to talk to the guy she likes the most.

--

She leaned on her desk, with a dreamy smile on her face. Eunice and Cosmos looked at each other with confusion, then as they looked at her, she smiled. "Our Sunnee is in love!" Eunice teased. "I think I know to whom!" Cosmos said. With that, Sunnee, frowned at them. "Hey! Can't you give me a little moment to reminisce my moment?" she asked. "The moment that only happened this morning." Eunice said. Her two friends gave each other a high five.

Sunnee let out a pout. "Admit it, you're smitten by Huang Wei Jin." Eunice said. "Who wouldn't? He is the most handsome, and most talented guy in our batch! But too bad, I heard she's dating someone..." Cosmos said. Sunnee looked at her. She was surprised at what Cosmos said. "He is?" she asked. "Cosmos nodded her head.

"You mean to say, it's true that he and Yu Fei are together?!" Eunice asked. "Someone saw them kissing at the gym yesterday." Cosmos confirmed. Eunice's eyes widened upon hearing that. "You don't say?!" she said. Cosmos nodded her head. "I also heard that..."

Sunnee let out a sigh. She fell silent as her two friends talked about Wayne and his alleged girlfriend.

--

Sunnee walked outside of the school gate, and just in time, a motorcycle stopped in front of her. She paused for a while, and watched as that person hopped off of his motorcycle. He took of his helmet, and smiled at her.

"Qing Er Mei Mei!"

Wes shouted happily as he hugged her tight. Sunnee just laughed at his reaction. "I missed my Qing Er Mei Mei! Did my Qing Er Mei Mei missed me?" Wes asked. "Wes ge, with the way you're treating me, people would think you're my boyfriend." she said. Wes smiled at her. "Aiyo, can't I be sweet towards my little sister? And besides, that's what I want people to think so they will know you're off-limits." he said.

Sunnee pouted at her big brother. "Ge!" she whined. Wes laughed, and ruffled her hair. "Come on. I want to treat you out today. I passed my finals." he said. He put on the helmet on her. "All right. But let me tell you, I'm going to order the biggest ice cream." Sunnee told him. Wes smiled. "It's all up to you." Wes said with a smile.

The two of them got into the motorcycle, and went to their favorite restaurant. "I want ice cream, and burger, and spaghetti!" Sunnee told Wes as they went inside the restaurant. "Whoa, Qing Er Mei Mei... don't order much, I won't have enough money to foot the bill!" Wes told her. Sunnee just laughed at him.

As she looked in front of her, he saw Wayne with his friends together. She immediately looked down, but as Wes looked at her, he saw her blushing. "Why are you all red, Qing Er Mei Mei?" Wes asked. "N-n-nothing..." she said.

Then, she tugged his arm. "C-c-c-can we go eat somewhere?" she asked. "But, I thought you want ice cream?"

"I changed my mind."

"But we're already here."

"I don't feel like eating ice cream anymore."

"But we're here."

"Can we just go and eat somewhere, please?"

Wes let out a sigh, and stopped arguing with her. "Fine. If that's what you want." he said. He put his arm around her. Then, as they turned to leave, she heard someone call her name. "Sunnee!"

Wes looked back, and saw a guy walking up to them. He looked at the gut before looking at his little sister. "Yun Qing, do you know who this guy is?" he asked her. Sunnee looked back, and saw Wayne standing. "He... he's my schoolmate." Sunnee said as she faced Wayne.

"Hi, Sunnee. Glad to bump into you here again today." Wayne said as he smiled. Sunnee looked at him sadly. "Sunnee, remember, he already have a girlfriend..." she thought. Then, she clung to Wes' arms. "Yeah, nice to see you again. Sorry, my boyfriend and I are in a hurry."

Wes gave Sunnee a shocked. "Boyfriend?!" he asked her. Sunnee looked at him, and smiled at him. "Honey...." she told him. With that, Wes knew what she meant. "Oh. Yes, I'm Sunnee's boyfriend. Nice to meet you, man." Wes said as he smiled at him. "Oh..." Wayne said in a low voice. She noticed the change in his expression, but then she saw him smile again.

"It's nice to meet you, man. Sorry for holding you up, Sunnee. I'll see you in school." Wayne said before leaving to go back to his table. Wes gave his little sister a confused look. "What's wrong?" he asked. Sunnee didn't answer, but instead, she pulled him outside the restaurant.

"Qing Er Mei Mei, we're not going to leave until you tell me why you told that guy I'm your boyfriend..." Wes told Sunnee as soon as they got out of the restaurant. He looked closely at Sunnee, and saw the sad look on her face. "Is that guy bothering you? Is he bullying you? Because I'll go back inside and teach him a lesson. Nobody hurts my little sister!" Wes said.

"No. He didn't do anything. It's just me..." Sunnee said sadly. Wes stared at her for a long time, and then realized why she's avoiding the guy. "Ah! I know. You have a crush on that guy, right?" Wes said with a smile. "Can you tone down your voice?" Sunnee said in an annoyed tone. Wes just let out a laugh.

"But why tell him I'm your boyfriend?" Wes asked. Sunnee let out a sigh. "Because I found out today that he have a girlfriend..." she said sadly. "So you said that to make him jealous, or just because you're hurt?" Wes asked. Sunnee looked up at him. "Because I am hurt..." she said. Wes smiled at her, then put his arm around her. "Don't feel bad. Who knows, one day, he'll break up with his girlfriend, and he'll notice you." Wes told her. Then, he pinched her cheeks. "So, smile now, my little sunshine, OK?" Wes said. Sunnee forced a smile for him. "All right!" she said.

--

Sunnee walked outside the music room, and heard a sad piano piece being played. She peeked inside, and saw Wayne playing the piano again. "Why is he playing such a sad piece?" She stared at her for a long time, and saw that he's spacing out. She could see the sadness in his face.

"What's wrong? Why is he sad?" she asked. She felt sad seeing him that way. "What made you sad? Who made you sad?" she asked. She leaned on the wall. As she hugged her books, she closed her eyes, and listened to him play that melancholic melody.

She heard the piano stopped playing. As she slowly opened her eyes, she saw Wayne standing in front of her. The once sad look on his face was gone, and it was replaced by a smile. She could see him gazing at her. She felt her heart beat fast the longer he stared at her. "Hello there, Sunnee..." he said. His voice was soft, but she could hear the excitement in it.

"H-hi, Wayne..." she said shyly. "You're always listening to me play the piano, right?" he asked. Sunnee nodded her head. "I... I'm curious as to how you play the piano..." she blurted. She was too nervous to even think of the right words to explain why she always listen to him. The truth is, she wanted to have a glimpse of him, even from afar.

"Then, let me show you how to play the piano." Wayne said. He held her hand, and pulled her inside the music room. As Wayne held her hand, she can't help but look at his hand. "His hand is so warm..."  she thought as she looked at him. She couldn't help but smile at herself as they walked together.

[End Of Flashback]

"Based on what Dylan said, it must have been another panic attack." Wes told Brent. Brent just nodded his head. "There's no use of her staying here at the hospital. Can we have her discharged, so she can rest at home?" Wes added.

"Sure, but I want to ask something. How long has Sunnee had PTSD?" Brent asked out of curiosity. "About three years. Since her... since her car accident..." Wes said. Brent looked back at Dylan, who is staying by Sunnee's side as she sleeps. "Funny, how two years ago, you resigned here at the hospital. I am guessing, she is the patient you want to take care? The reason why you turned your back on your career?" Brent asked. Wes let out a sigh. "I'm still a licensed psychiatrist. I can go back to my career anytime I want. But right now, my sister needed me." he told him.

Dylan held Sunnee's hand as she slept. He looked at her lovingly. "Sunnee, please be well... I love you..." he whispered to her. Then, he kissed her forehead.
