Under The Rain

Always Loving You

"After I had an accident, I was diagnosed with PTSD..."

Dylan just looked at her. She lowered her head to avoid his gaze. "That accident was the worst thing that happened in my life. I was in coma for days, and when I woke up..." She bit her lips as tears began to fall from her eyes. "When I woke up... I... found out... the... guy... my first... love... is... gone..." she managed to say despite the fact that she was shaking.

She knew she's having another panic attack as she remember that accident. She was scared of what will Dylan think of her. But then, she felt Dylan hold her hand, and that was enough to calm her down. "So, I would understand if you... if you decided to leave me because... of my condition..." she said.

Dylan stared at her for a long time, and then pulled her into a hug. She was surprised at what he did. "Why would I do that? I won't let you go through this alone. I admire you, because you had the strength to go through all of this." he told her. He hugged her tighter as he took a deep breath. "I won't leave you. I won't even stop loving you. Actually, all I wanted to do right now is to take care of you, if you only let me..." he said.

Sunnee was in a daze upon hearing his words. "Dylan..." she muttered. Dylan broke their hug. He looked at her, and cupped her cheek. "Will you let me take care of you?" he asked her. "I'm just scared that you might bet tired of me one day..." Sunnee said. Dylan shook his head. "I won't get tired of taking care of you. I will be here for you until you become well again. I want you to depend on me." he tried to convince her.

Sunnee was still hesitant. The pain from her loss before is still there, and if she accepts Dylan, she might end up hurting him as well. "You don't want to accept me, because of your first love, am I right?" he asked. Sunnee looked up at him. "I had my loss before. And it hurts until now. If I accept you, and I lose you again..."

"You won't lose me."

"Don't give me promises that you can't keep, Dylan."

"If I prove to you I will stay, will you consider?"

Dylan gazed at her for a long time. "I love you, Sunnee. And if I have to prove it to you over and over again, I'll do it." he told her. "I can't accept you for now, Dylan... but I can give you that chance to prove your love to me." she said. With that, Dylan smiled. "Then, it means I can court you?" he asked. Sunnee slowly nodded her head.

With that, his smile widened. "Then, I won't let you down. I'm going to make you happy again. I know, it would be hard for you to forget about him, but I will try my very best to win your heart." he told her. Sunnee just smiled at him. Somehow, she wonders, will Dylan ever replace Wayne in her heart?

"Sunnee?"

Evan knocked as before he opened the door. Sunnee, who is still lying on her bed, looked up at him. "Evan ge, you're home early..." she said. Evan smiled at him as he approached her. "We closed early today. Anyway, Little Bear and I brought you hamburger." Evan said.

Sunnee sat up as Evan handed her the paper bag with her hamburger in it. Then, he showed her Little Bear. "I hope you're well now, Sunnee!" Evan said in Little Bear's voice. Sunnee couldn't help but laugh at him. "I'm OK now. Thank you, Evan ge and Little Bear." she said.

Sunnee took out the hamburger, and began to eat it. Evan watched her as she ate. Then, he smiled at her. "I was worried about you, you know..." he told him. "Evan ge, you don't have to worry about me. It's just a little fever." she said. Evan just looked at her. He knew, it wasn't just a fever. He knew that last night, she had another panic attack.

Evan held her hand, and looked into her eyes. "You can't blame me for being worried. It's just that I... I care about you." he said. With that, Sunnee smiled. "Thank you, Evan ge. I feel so happy to know that you care for me. I'm really lucky to have you as my big brother." she said.

Evan stared at her again. "How can I make you understand that I don't feel that way for you? How can I let you know that I love you, Sunnee?" he thought sadly.

The next day.

Sunnee was able to go to work the next day. She was catching up on work with Evan, when they heard the door open. "Welcome!" Sunnee automatically said. The two of them looked up, and saw Dylan walking up to them. He smiled at Sunnee as he approached her.

"Hi!" he said, smiling sweetly at her. Sunnee couldn't help but smile back at him. "Hi..." she said shyly. Evan could only watch as the two stared at each other. "Ehem..." he said, clearing his throat. Both Sunnee and Dylan looked at him. "Are you here to buy flowers, or are you here for Qing Er Mei Mei?" Evan asked him.

"Oh, yes. I would like to buy a bouquet of sunflowers." he told him. "All right. I'll prepare it for you." Evan said. He left the two so that he could prepare his order. "Is that why you're here? For the flowers?" Sunnee asked Dylan as soon as they were alone. "I was also wondering if you're free for lunch today." Dylan asked.

Sunnee smiled and nodded her head. "Then, let's have lunch together?" he asked. Sunnee nodded her head. "Here you go. That would be $120." Evan said, handing Dylan the bouquet of flowers. Dylan handed him his payment, then he turned to Sunnee.

"For you." Dylan said, handing her the bouquet. Sunnee couldn't help but laugh at him, while Evan just shook his head. "I knew it..." Evan muttered. "Thank you for the flowers, even if it came from this shop." Sunnee said as she took the bouquet from his hand.

"Then, can I resell the bouquet?" Evan asked Sunnee. Sunnee pouted at him. "No! These are mine. Don't try to sell them again, Evan ge." she told him. Evan just let out a laugh. "Just kidding. Hey, let me keep these for you. Aren't you two going out for lunch?" Evan said. "Then, can I go? Will you be OK here alone, Evan ge?" Sunnee asked. Evan nodded his head. "Just go and have lunch." Evan said.

Evan could see her smile at him. "Thank you, Evan ge!" she told him as she hugged him. She went out of the counter, and held onto Dylan's arm. "Is this lunch your treat?" she asked him. Dylan just laughed at her. "I was hoping this will be your treat, but yeah, my treat." he told her. Sunnee laughed at him, then pinched his cheek. "Let's go!" she said.

They walked towards the door, and Evan could only look sadly at Sunnee. "Should I admit defeat? It seems that she likes this Dylan... while in her eyes, I'm just her big brother..." he thought sadly. The moment Sunnee and Dylan left, Pets got out of the office. She noticed Sunnee leaving with Dylan. "Who was that? Is that Sunnee?" she asked her brother. "Yeah, it's Sunnee and Dylan. They're going out for lunch." Evan told her.

Pets walked by the door, and looked at Dylan. "That guy..." she thought as she stared at him. Then, she suddenly remembered who he is. "That guy... he.... he was the one who saved Sunnee three years ago..." she thought.

--

They just finished their lunch, and as they got out of the restaurant, it began to rain. The rain was too heavy, that it would be impossible to run to where Dylan parked his car. "Oh no!" Sunnee said worriedly. "Too bad, I didn't bring any umbrella with me. I didn't know it would rain this afternoon." Dylan apologized.

Sunnee looked at him, and smiled. "It's all right, Dylan. We both didn't know it would rain this hard." she said. Dylan let out a sigh as he looked at the rain as it falls down the ground. "What are we going to do now? Are we just going to stay here till it stops?" he asked. "I don't think the rain will stop soon..." she answered.

Then, something came into Sunnee's head. "Dylan, when you were younger, have you tried running under the rain?" she asked. Dylan shook his head. "No. I was sickly back then. I wasn't allowed to." he answered. "You didn't attempt to?"

"No. I was scared to be too sick if I did that."

Then, Sunnee held his hand. "I have an idea..." she said as she looked up at him. Dylan just gave her a confused look. Before he knew it, Sunnee pulled him and he found himself running under the rain with him. Although the rain drops felt cold in his skin, it was the warmth of Sunnee's hand that he felt more.

He didn't mind being drenched in the rain, as long as he's holding her hand. He never thought running under the rain would be more fun with her around. He found himself gazing and smiling at her. "We're here!" Sunnee told him as they reached his car. Both of them stopped running, and Sunnee turned to face him. She was just as drenched as he is.

"Have you been kissed under the rain?" he asked her. Sunnee shook her head. "Why?" she asked. Dylan didn't answer her. Instead, he cupped her cheeks, and kissed her under the rain.
