Stargazing

Always Loving You

Wes pushed Pets away, and glared at her. "Stop it." he told her. Pets couldn't help but cry at his rejection. "If you think you can get me with that kiss, it would take more than that." he told her with a smirk. "You want to know the truth, Pets? I was in love with you for a long time. And you just didn't hurt Sunnee, you hurt me as well because of what you did," he told her.

Pets closed her eyes as she cried. "Wes, I didn't know... I'm sorry..." she said. She tried to reach for him, but he turned his back on her. "Let's go home." he told her coldly. In the dark, she stared at his back. "I wish... I wish I could take back all I've done before... I wish I hadn't told you the truth... because it hurts me too... It hurts that you treat me this way, Wes..." she said to herself.

The next day.

"Sunnee, you have a package." Pauline told her stepdaughter as she carried a big box. Sunnee stood up from her seat to help her stepmom carry the box. "Who did it come from?" Wes asked her. Sunnee shrugged her shoulders. "Let me guess... it must be a gift from Dylan." Pauline told her.

Sunnee let out a smile. "Aiyo, why would he send me this big gift?" she asked. "I don't know. All I know is, the bigger the gift, the bigger the love!" Pauline said dreamily. Sunnee just laughed at her stepmom. She read the card on top of it, and her mom is right. It did come from Dylan.

She went to her room, and put the box on her bed. She then read the card that was on it. 'For Sunnee, with love from Dylan. How cheesy can you get, Dylan?" she said to herself. She let out a smile as she reread the card. Then, she heard her phone rang. She took it from her pocket and answered it.

"Hello?"

""Hey, Sunnee. It's me, Dylan."

"Sorry, wrong number."

She heard Dylan laugh on the other line. "I told you, I've already memorized your voice. You can't prank me anymore." he said. Sunnee just smiled as she listened to him. "Have you received my gift?" he asked. She looked at the box, and sat beside it. "The big box? Yeah, I did."

"Have you opened it yet?"

"Not yet."

"Then, can you open it now?"

Sunnee opened the box, and saw a lovely light blue dress and a pair of heels inside. "You gave me a dress and heels..." she told him. "Yes, that's my gift."

"But why? There's no occasion for me to wear these..."

"Well, there is now."

She looked at the dress with confusion. "What is it?" she asked. "Let's go on a date tonight." Dylan said. She ran her hand through the silky fabric on the dress. "What if I don't want to go out on a date with you?" she asked. "Then, I'll ask you over and over until you agree to go out with me." he told her. That made her smile.

"Well, how can I say no to a very persistent suitor?" she said. "Then, I'll pick you up tonight, all  right?" Dylan told her. "I'll wait for you, Dylan." she told him. "I can't wait to see you tonight." Dylan told her before they ended the call. She looked at the box, and stared at it for a long time.

--

It was evening, and Dylan picked up Sunnee from their house. He waited for her at the living room. He is both nervous and excited to see her. "Oh, you're here early..." he heard someone said. He looked up, and saw Wes walking up to him. Following behind him is Sunnee's father. He stood up, and bowed before them. "Good evening." he said politely. Wes folded his arms, and then sat beside him, while Jack stood in front of them.

"So, you're going out on a date with my daughter, huh?" Jack asked him. Dylan nodded his head. "Yes, sir." he said. Jack looked at him sternly. "Tell my, my little friend, do you like my daughter?" he asked. "Are you courting my little sister?" Wes pried as well. Dylan blushed as he nodded his head. "Y-yes..." he said. Wes looked at Jack, and let out a playful smile. "Uncle Jack, he's courting your daughter." Wes said, teasing Dylan.

Jack sighed, and sat beside Dylan. "Are you sure you want to date her?" Jack asked. Dylan nodded his head. "Are you serious about my daughter?" Jack asked in a more serious tone this time. "I am, sir." Dylan answered determinedly. "Do you accept my daughter, for whatever she is? I want to make sure, because I don't want my daughter to get hurt." Jack asked. Dylan smiled at him. "I love her. Whatever her past or present her, I accept all of it." Dylan answered in a serious tone.

"Dad, are you trying to torture my date?"

The three men stood up, and looked at Sunnee.  They saw that she's ready for to go to her date. She was wearing the dress and the shoes that Dylan gave her that morning. Dylan was mesmerized by her. He couldn't help but stare at her for a long time.

"Whoa, Qing Er Mei Mei, you really prepared today, huh?" Wes . Sunnee pouted at him. "Wes ge..." she hissed. Her father smiled at her. "Qing Er Mei Mei, what Wes ge means is that you are very pretty today. Right, Dylan?" Jack said, nudging Dylan. Jack looked at the young lad, and saw him gazing at his daughter. "Dylan?" he called again

"She's pretty..." Dylan said, as if he was in a daze. "See, I told you, Sunnee." Jack said. "All right, all right. I think we should go before you start investigating on Dylan." Sunnee told them. She walked up to Dylan, and linked her arms around his arms. She looked at him, and smiled. "Let's  go?" she asked him. Dylan smiled at her. "Let's go."

She waved goodbye to her dad and to Wes, and then they went out of the door. "Make sure to bring my daughter back before her curfew!" Jack shouted at them. He let out a sigh, and smiled to himself. "I've never seen Qing Er Mei Mei this happy since..." Jack's voice trailed as he stared at the door. Wes looked at the elder man. "Since Wayne died?" he asked. Jack nodded his head. "I just hope, this guy would be able to make my daughter happy. I hope she could bring back the Qing Er Mei Mei we once knew..." Jack said.

--

Dylan held Sunnee's hand as they walked to the stairs leading to the rooftop of a building. As soon as they arrived at the rooftop, Sunnee was surprised with how Dylan prepared it. The placed was filled with sunflowers and was decorated with fairy lights. At the center was a table for two.

"Wow, you really prepared for this date, huh?" Sunnee told him. "Of course. I want this one to be a memorable date for the two of us." Dylan told her. Sunnee looked at him and smiled. "Well, I guess tonight will be a very memorable date." she said. The two of them walked towards the table, and Dylan helped her sat on her chair.

They had their dinner first. Sunnee was surprised that they had hamburger for dinner. "Hamburger? Really, Dylan?" she told him. She couldn't help but laugh at what they are about to eat. "I know hamburger is your favorite, so I made sure we have it tonight." Dylan explained. Sunnee smiled at him. "Well, thank you for remembering I like hamburger."

"And guess what's for dessert."

"Cookie dough ice cream?"

"Exactly!"

Sunnee let out another laugh. She was happy because Dylan managed to get all of her favorites in their date. "Let's dig in!" Sunnee said. She took the hamburger by hand, and took a bite of it. Dylan, did the same, after he put fries on it and pressing the buns down with his palm. Sunnee stared at him as he ate his burger. She can't deny that there's a lot of similarities between him and Wayne. Sometimes, she thinks she enjoys his company because it felt like she's still with Wayne when she's around him.

She looked at Dylan, and saw him as he stood up from his chair. He walked towards her side. He bowed before her, and extended his hand. "May I have this dance?" he asked her as he smiled. Sunnee smiled at him as she took his hand. "Yes, you may." she said as she stood up.

They made a few steps away from the table. Dylan put his hands on her waist, while Sunnee rested her hand on his shoulder. As the music started, the two of them began to slow dance. As they were dancing, Dylan never took his eyes off her. "Sir, why do you keep on staring at me?" Sunnee asked. "I'm sorry, I just can't take my eyes off of you."

"I might melt if you stare at me like that..."

"Then, why are you staring at me as well, miss?"

"I just realized, you have a beautiful pair of eyes..."

Dylan gazed at her as he smiled. "Do you know why I love staring at you?" he asked. Sunnee gave him a confused look. "Why?" she asked. "Because I like seeing my reflection in your eyes..." he said. With that, Sunnee's cheeks turned bright pink.

"Aiyo, I want the ice cream now..." she said. Dylan let out a laugh. The two of them stopped dancing. "All right, I'll tell them to serve your big bowl of ice cream." he said. Sunnee clapped and smiled excitedly at him.

--

Sunnee stood by the concrete railing of the building. She looked up at the night sky, admiring it's beauty. "Are you bored?" he heard Dylan ask her. She felt Dylan hug her from behind. She let out a smile, and shook her head. "Of course, not. I'm just looking at the stars." she said.

Dylan looked up at the night sky as well. "I never thought a night sky filled with stars is a beautiful sight." Sunnee said. Dylan nodded his head. "You know, I love stargazing." he said. "Really? Then, the night sky must be one of your favorite views." Sunnee said. "It is. But it's not as beautiful as my favorite view."

Sunnee became confused. "The view under the sea?" he asked. "Nope. It's not as beautiful as my favorite sight." Dylan said with a smile. "Is it the sunset?" she asked again. "Try again."

"This is so hard..."

"Come on, you can guess my favorite view."

"I give up."

"If you look at me, then you'll know..."

Sunnee looked back at him, and saw him staring at her. "Are... are you staring at me the whole time?" she asked shyly. "You are my favorite view." he whispered to her. Sunnee couldn't help but smile to herself. Dylan's face inched to her, but as he was about to kiss her again, Sunnee looked away.

"Look!" Sunnee said. He saw her pointing at the sky. He looked up, and saw a falling star in the sky. "Let's make a wish, all right?" Sunnee told him. He watched her as she closed her eyes and clasp her hand. He did the same thing, and made a wish.

"At this moment, I only have one wish..." he thought. "I hope I can be happy again..." Sunnee wished silently. She opened her eyes, and turned to Dylan. "What did you wish for, Dylan?" she asked. Dylan let out a playful smile. "It's a secret." he said. With that, Sunnee pouted. "Won't you tell me?"

"If I tell you, then it won't come true."

"Do you really want your wish to come true?"

Dylan nodded his head. "Of course. How about you, what did you wish for?" he asked her. "I wished for happiness." Sunnee told him. Then, she let out a smile. "And I know, it would come true." she added. "Good for you. Oh, how I wish mine would come true too..." Dylan said with a sigh. "Maybe I can make that wish come true, if you tell me what it is." Sunnee said.

Dylan thought for a while, and decided to tell him his wish. "My wish is..." he stopped his sentence, and gazed at her again for a long time. Without any words, Sunnee understand what he wished for. Then, she tiptoed, and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

Dylan was surprised at what she did. He looked at her, speechless at what she did. Then, Sunnee smiled at him. "I love you too..." she told him.

He let out a smile at her. His eyes filled with tears as he looked at her. "Sunnee..."

--

She fell on the ground. She grabbed on the table cloth, only for the plates and utensils to fall on the ground. She let out a loud cry as her head began to ache. Memories flashed to her mind, making her lose control again.

"No!" she cried. Dylan ran to her, and hugged her. "Sunnee..." he called in a worried tone. It was only when he hugged her tight that her loud cried turned into a soft, muffled sob. "Wayne... no..." she cried silently. Dylan looked at her. He had so many question, but for now, all he wanted to do is hug her tight, hoping it's enough to ease the pain she's feeling.
