"Who are you, and what are you doing here?"

 

Dylan and Sunnee looked back, and saw Wes and Evan walking up to them. Wes looked sternly at Dylan. "Wes ge, he's my friend." Sunnee told him. Wes looked at Dylan. "Just a friend?" he asked. Dylan scratched his head as he looked at Wes. "Hello, I'm Dylan. Sunnee's friend..." he said. 

 

Wes looked at Sunnee, and saw her looking away from him. "Qing Er Mei Mei, are you keeping secrets from me now?" Wes told her sternly. Sunnee sighed as she pouted at the taller guy. "Wes ge..." she whined. Then, Wes let out a laugh. "I'm just kidding." he told her. 

 

Then, he turned to Dylan, and smiled. "Hi, I'm Wes. I'm Sunnee's acting brother. Though, we're not blood related." Wes told him. Evan smiled at Dylan as well. "I'm Evan. I'm her stepbrother." he said. "It's nice to meet you. Where did Sunnee hid you all these time?" Wes asked. "Wes ge!" Sunnee shouted at him. Evan and Wes looked at each other, and laughed. 

 

"Sunnee and I met at our friend's wedding." Dylan told them. "Ah! Cosmos' wedding, right?" Wes asked. Dylan nodded his head. "Well, I'm glad that our Qing Er Mei Mei have new friends. I'm scared she will go crazy befriending just the flowers." Wes said. "Wes ge... don't you have anything to do inside the shop?" Sunnee told him. 

 

Wes let out a laugh. "Oh, right. Evan, let's order some  pizza today for lunch." Wes told him. Evan nodded his head. "I'll leave the two of you for a while then. Nice meeting you, Dylan." Wes told him. "Nice to meet you too, Wes." Dylan said. The two of them watched as Wes and Evan got inside the shop. 

 

"I'm sorry about Wes ge. He's a little overprotective of me." Sunnee told Dylan. Dylan smiled at her. "I understand. All brothers are like that, right?" Dylan said. Sunnee nodded her head. "So... you're saying a while ago..." Sunnee asked him. Dylan let out a shy smile. "I was wondering if you'll go out with me today... for lunch?" he asked. "Oh..." Sunnee said as she smiled. "But I would understand if you're busy. I was just taking my chance today." Dylan told her. 

 

"What if I said no?" Sunnee asked him. "Then, I'll come back tomorrow and ask you again." Dylan answered. "And if I refuse again?"

"I'll come back everyday until you agree to go out with me."

 

Sunnee couldn't help but smile at him. "If I say yes to you, this might be the last time I'll see you." she said. Dylan gave her a confused look. "Why?"

"Because you won't come back to see me again."

"Of course not! I'll always come back to see you. If you allow me to..."

"Then, let me just tell Wes ge that we're going out for lunch."

 

Dylan was surprised at what she said. As he watched her went inside the shop, he couldn't help but smile. "She agreed to go out with me!" he thought. A few seconds later, Sunnee came out of the shop. "Wait, this is your treat, right?" Sunnee asked him. "Of course!" he told her. Then, she let out a smile. "Then, let's go." she told him.

[Flashback]

 

"Yang Yun Qing! Don't go!"

 

Wes said as he followed Sunnee outside the house. Sunnee looked back at him with tears in his eyes. "I have to see him..." she told him. "You know that if you go, you'll just hurt yourself." he told her. Sunnee lowered her head as she cried. 

 

"Don't go, all right?" Wes said as he put his hand on her shoulder. "Don't hurt yourself anymore..." He looked at her with pleading eyes. She had enough heartache, and he doesn't want to see her in pain once again. 

 

"But I love him... I love him so much, I'd rather be hurt as long as I don't lose him." she told him. With that, She turned her back on him, and ran away. "Sunnee!" Wes called. He wanted to follow her, but someone held on to his hand. "Let her deal with it." Wes looked back, and saw Pets beside him. 

 

[End of Flashback]

 

"Wes?"

 

Wes looked up, and saw Evan calling him. "Pizza's here." he told him. Wes nodded his head. He watched as Evan opened the box of pizza. "You're in your deep thoughts. What's wrong?" Evan asked. "Nothing. I just remembered something." Wes told him as he took a slice of pizza. "What is it?" Evan inquired. 

 

Wes let out a sigh as he leaned on the counter. "It's been a long time since I've seen Qing Er Mei Mei had a new friend. You know, when we were younger, Sunnee is the friendliest girl I've known. After the accident, she became reserved. I'm happy with what's happening to her right now... but somehow I can't get help but worried." he told him. 

 

"The accident?" Evan asked. Wes nodded his head. "Everything changed after that night. The Sunnee that I once knew became an empty shell." he said. "Then, tell me... what happened to her? What caused the accident? And what did she lost?" Evan asked. Wes smiled sadly at him. "She lost her heart." he told him.

Dylan held onto the menu, but was not really reading it. From time to time, he would steal glances at Sunnee, who was sitting in front of him. As he glanced at her, he let out a smile. "Are we playing peak-a-boo?" he heard Sunnee asked. 

 

Dylan put the menu down, and looked at her. "Then, can I stare at you?" he asked. Sunnee put down her menu, and smiled at him. "I think you're just hungry. Can we order now?" she asked. Dylan nodded his head. Then, he called the waiter. "I'lll have a double cheeseburger. Sunnee, how about you?" Dylan asked her. 

 

Sunnee looked up at him, and stared at  him. "I... I'll have the same..." she told him. She watched as Dylan talked to the waiter. "That would be all. We'll just call you if we need anything else." Dylan told the waiter. 

 

"Wayne likes cheeseburger too..." she thought as she looked at Dylan. Then, she shook her head to erase that thought. "Maybe it's just a coincidence." she said to herself. "Hey, you know, they have the best burger here." Dylan told her. "Really?" Sunnee asked. Dylan nodded his head. "Do you always eat here?" she asked. "Well, lately, yes. Before, I can't even eat a burger."

"Why?"

"Since I was young, I had a heart condition. So, I can;t eat everything that I want or do anything I want. It was only when I finally had a heart transplant that I was able to enjoy my life." 

 

Sunnee smiled sadly at him. "It must be tough on you..." she said. Dylan nodded his head. "I'm convinced that I won't live long. Before my heart transplant, my seizures became frequent. I thought it would be the end of me. Then, one day, the doctor said they finally found the suitable donor. And so, I'm here - alive and kicking." Dylan said, 

 

"Then, you're a brave man. Maybe if I were in your position, I would lose hope." she told him. "I came to that point. With every seizure, I was wishing it would be the last so I won't let my mom worry about me, so that I could finally be free. But I don't know... there are unknown forces in this world that still wants me to live. And I thank those unknown forces for extending my life. Now, I know why I still had to live." he said as he gazed at her. 

 

As she looked at Dylan's, she can't help but blush. "What could that reason be?" she asked. "Because they know that I'm still fated to meet you." he said.  She smiled at him. "Are you always this sweet to the girls you go out on a date with?" she asked. Dylan shook his head. "I don't always go out on a date. I never even went out on a date my whole life. I wasn't even allowed to fall in love back then... but now..."

 

Dylan found himself staring at her again. "But now, I'm free to love, and I want to be in love with you..." he wanted to say. But before he could speak again, their food came. "Ah, here it is!" Dylan said excitedly. Sunnee watched as he looked at his burger with excitement in his eyes. "Thank you." Dylan told the waiter before he left. 

 

Then, Dylan but some fries inside the burger, and pressed the bun with the bun of his hand, until it became thin. She paused as she watched him. "Wayne?" she thought. She remember how he would always do that before he would eat his favorite burger. She finds it weird, but when she tells Wayne about it, he would say one thing. "It makes the burger much tastier." she heard Dylan say. 

 

She paused, and stared at him. "That's what Wayne would always do and what he would always say..." she said in her thoughts. "I know it's weird, but I find it much better to eat the burger this way." Dylan said. She forced a smile, and nodded her head. "I... I  heard it is. D-don't worry... I don't find it weird at all." Sunnee told him. She took her burger, and then ate in silence.

"Before the accident, Sunnee had a boyfriend. His name is Wayne..."

 

Wes told Evan. Then, he let out a sad smile. "He is everything for her. Her world revolved around her. Until that night..." he said. He paused for a while, and looked away from him. "It was the accident?" Evan asked. "I wish it was just the accident, Evan. But yes, that night, they were involved in a car accident. Sunnee had multiple injuries. She was in coma for days, and we all thought she would not survive. And Wayne... he died." Wes said. 

 

"Oh..." Evan said in a low voice. "Sunnee must have loved Wayne so much that she could not move on from him, right?" he asked. Wes nodded his head. "When she found out Wayne's death, she blamed herself. She was crying all the time. Until one day -"

 

"Wes."

 

Both Evan and Wes looked at Pets, and saw her walking towards them. "I need your help at my office. Can you come with me?" she asked. Wes nodded his head. Then, he followed Pets inside the office. "What kind of help do you need?" he asked as he closed the door behind him.  He looked at her back, waiting for her to speak again. "Can you not tell my brother what happened to Sunnee before and after the accident?" she asked. 

 

Confusion was written on his face upon hearing what she said. "But Evan's your family. He'll find out sooner or later Sunnee's condition." he told her. "He doesn't have to know..." Pets said. 

 

Wes walked towards her, and turned her to face him. "We can't run away from the truth." he told her firmly. Pets looked away from him to hide the tears from her eyes. "The truth is, that accident changed all of our lives. That accident broke Sunnee. And most of all, what happened to her and Wayne before the accident -"

"Sunnee has forgotten what had happened before the accident, OK?"

 

Wes was surprised at what she said. "What do you mean?" he asked. Pets just looked at him. "You're hiding something from me, are you?" he asked. Pets just lowered her head, not answering his question. "She forgot what happened the night before the accident?" he asked again. Pets just stared at him, unable to answer his question.

"Do you like dessert?" Dylan asked Sunnee after they finished their lunch. "A dessert would be nice." she told him. "Hmmm, let me guess what you want for dessert." he said. Sunnee let out a smile. "What's the catch?" she asked. "If I got what you're getting for dessert, you owe me a date." he said. "And if not?" she asked. "I owe you a date." Dylan said. 

 

"All right, then guess now." Sunnee said as the waiter approached them. Dylan looked at her, and smiled. "Ice cream." he said. Sunnee let out a smile. She can't believe Dylan would guess what she wants for dessert. "Flavor?" she asked again. Dylan thought for a while. "Cookie dough." he said. Sunnee clapped her hands at him. "You're right! Congratulations!" she said happily. Dylan raised his fist in the air as he cheered for himself. "Yes! I got it right." he said triumphantly. 

 

Then, Dylan turned to the waiter. "The lady will have cookie dough ice cream, while I'll have salted caramel ice cream. Thank you." he said to the waiter. The waiter nodded his head, and left the two again. "Did you ask Eunice what my favorite ice cream flavor is?" she asked. Dylan nodded his head. "The only thing Eunice did was ask me to run an errand for her, that's all." he answered. 

 

Sunnee gave him a confused look. "Errand? What errand?" she asked. "She asked me to buy flowers from this shop called Fleur Du Soleil..."

"That's my shop!"

 

Dylan nodded his head. "She didn't gave me your number right away. She sent me to your shop, and here I am." he said. Sunnee let out a sigh, and then smiled at him. "It feels as though you know a lot about me..." she said. Then, he held her hand, and looked into her eyes. "But I still want to get to know more about you." he told her. 

 

She looked at his hand. She felt the warmth of his palm once again as he held her hand. Then, she looked up at him as he gave her a gentle smile. It's been a long time since she had been close to any guy, and now here he is - someone who wants to get to know her better. Suddenly, she felt scared. She was scared of what his reaction will be if he found out what happened to her in the past. Will he change the way he would treat her? Will he leave her if he found out what happened three years ago. 

 

"Will you let me get to know you more, Sunnee?" Dylan asked in his gentle voice. Hearing him ask her in that tone, she felt all her fears were cast aside. She felt he could trust him with everything. "I do..." she told him.
