As Sweet As Candy

Unrelenting Fortitude

"Socks?"

"Check."

"Phone?"

"Check."

"Over the shoulder boulder holder?"

"DO YOU MIND!?!"

"What!? It's not like your flat anymore!!" Jun yelped as his sister threw her shoe at him. "You need protection!"

"Yeah, from you," Jeri mumbled, zipping her suitcase shut.

Jun pouted and followed her out of their shared room and into the living room, Harii instantly jumping up from the couch and grasping the girl's shoulders.

"Now do you have everything you need? You have your ticket? An extra set of underwear?"

"Not you too!!" Jeri whined. "Setiawan help me out over here!"

The blond looked up from his book. "Well, it’s not like you’re flat anymore..." he teased.

Jeri gave him an unimpressed look and rolled her eyes, moving over to the door and slipping her shoes on. She was about to open the door when a body latched onto her back.

"Hariiiiiii!! Let me goooooo!!!" she whined, trying to struggle out of the Korean's arms.

"No! You're still just a baby, you can't possibly go to a completely different country and leave me behind!! Oppa will worry about you too much!!!" the man cried, his grip on the girl slowly weakening.

Jeri managed to pry his arms off from around her and exited the dorm, Jun right behind her. The two made their way to his car and climbed in, heading towards the airport, Jeri with a grin and bouncing in her seat.

"Now, what were the rules," Just tested, keeping his eyes on the road.

"No bringing any life-forms home, no frolicking, no hand holding, no taking pictures of the locals without sharing when I get back," Jeri replied with a slightly bored tone.

"And no lovey-dovey stuff; I'll find out one way or another," Jun added, giving his sister a stern look.

Jeri simply rolled her eyes and shook her head, silently wondering why the thought even crossed his mind; it never even crossed hers until he talked about it.

The duo finally arrived at the airport and Jun handed his sister her luggage. The siblings had a small stare down until Jun finally sighed and pulled his sister in for a hug.

"You take care of yourself, check? And if anyone starts or says anything, call me and I'll kick their ," Jun promised.

Jeri couldn't help the smile from spreading onto her face as she hugged her brother back with a nod.

They separated and Jun watched her until she was inside the building, quickly getting back into his car and driving off.

Jeri snickered slightly as she watched the vehicle speed off and turned back to continue through the check in.

Two weeks. That's how long she was going to be gone from South Korea. Jeri had been mulling the possibility of the small vacation over for some time, and after lots of begging, she was allowed to leave for some 'down time', although this did take nearly two months to accomplish.

Jeri was suddenly jolted from her thoughts as the announcement for her flight was called, quickly standing and heading towards the proper gate. She found her seat and put her small carry-on in the upper compartment before sitting, manoeuvring herself when her neighbour came to sit down as well.

Half-way through the flight she gave a small sigh of frustration. The man sitting beside her was staring intently at her and didn't even have enough shame to try and hide it, his head turned towards her and everything.

"Can you stop please? It's irritating," she sighed, looking the man in the eye with a small glare.

"You don't like fans watching over you?" he questioned.

"Not when their blatant staring makes me feel like they're trying to rip out my soul," she growled, her glare not wavering.

"I would never do that! I love Tambourine!" he hisses.

Jeri groaned and closed her book and pressed the call button above her seat, her “fan” watching her every move.

"Excuse me, but is there any chance that I could change to a different seat?" Jeri asked, when the stewardess arrived at their row.

"May I ask why?" the woman asked.

"Because he keeps touching me inappropriately," she whined, giving the woman her best broken look.

"What!?" the two yelped.

"Why would you say that!!" the man barked, firmly grasping her arm with a glare.

"Sir!!" The stewardess barked, slapping his hand off of Jeri. "Come on sweetheart, I'll find you a different seat," she cooed, opening the upper compartment and taking out the teen’s luggage.

Jeri nodded and stood. "Merong~!" she booed, sticking her tongue out at the man whose face was now burning red.

"Here you go sweetheart," the stewardess chimed, motioning for Jeri to sit next to an elderly woman.

The teen gave her a grateful nod and slid into the seat, greeting the elder with a smile. The two chatted the rest of the plane ride, Jeri becoming ecstatic when she learned the elder had been visiting from Japan, which was also part of Jeri's blood. The two began conversing in Japanese until the plane finally landed and they went their separate ways.

Jeri quickly grabbed her bag from the belt and turned her cell phone back on to see she had received a text.

'Gate 18'

Jeri grinned and dashed towards the doors, managing to dodge all of the other people walking around. She passed through the gate and quickly surveyed the parking lot for a silver car. She quickly spotted it as well as the person lounging against the hood, her face breaking out into a large grin as she dashed across the road and towards him.

"HANNIE HANNIE HANNIE HANNIE HANNIE!!!!!" she squealed, dropping her suitcase and leaping at him.

Hangeng laughed and quickly caught her, spinning her around a couple times before placing her back onto the ground.

"I've missed you so much you have no idea!!" Jeri babbled, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

"I'm pretty sure I missed you more; it's been pretty dreary without your constant talking to keep me up at night," Hangeng laughed, patting her dishevelled hair back down.

"That was one time can't you let it go!" Jeri whined, instantly feeling bad upon remembering.

"I think you rambling on about how much you hated your manager and your brother until 2 O'Clock in the morning has been engraved into my brain stem," Hangeng laughed, walking over to the passenger side door of the Benz and flipping it up.

Jeri pouted but picked up her luggage and walked over, sliding into the car while Hangeng took her luggage and put it into the back after closing her door. He slid into the driver's seat only to see she was on her knees looking around in the car.

"This is nice," she whistled, looking back at him with her eyes wide. "Who'd you sell your firstborn child to to get this?"

Hangeng laughed and patted her back to get her to sit properly. "I didn't sell my first born child I sold yours," he grinned.

Jeri turned towards him with a teasing grin on her face. "So you still sold your child."

Hangeng laughed but stopped when he realized what she was insinuating, his face going slightly pink making Jeri howl. "Y-Ya! That's not something to joke about!!" he stammered, turning the car on.

"Why? Are you saying you don't want to have kids with me? You gave me a ring and everything," Jeri continued to tease, holding her left hand up to show the silver ring on her middle finger.

"It wasn't a marriage proposal!" Hangeng whined, his face still burning.

"Maybe next time," she quoted with a grin still on her face.

Hangeng couldn't help but laugh and drive out of the parking lot.

"So I have you all to myself for two whole weeks huh? I better find lots of things to show you," he laughed as they drove down the road.

"Can we go see the Forbidden City?" Jeri asked, watching him at ease behind the wheel of the "baby soul's" car.

"You're in China with a soon to be debuting solo artist and you want to go see a tourist trap??" Hangeng laughed, glancing over at her with an incredulous look.

"Have you ever been to the Forbidden City??" she huffed.

Hangeng quickly shut his mouth and pouted making her laugh and pat his shoulder.

The Mercedes soon pulled into the parking lot and Hangeng sighed when he noticed someone standing near the door to the apartment building.

"What's wrong?" Jeri asked, trying to see what he was sighing about.

"That's a reporter, he was there this morning…" the man grumbled. "How am I going to sneak you in without him seeing you?"

Jeri thought for a few moments before grinning and exiting the car.

"JERI!!" Hangeng yelped, reaching out to try and pull her back in.

The teen skipped over to the reporter and grinned at him.

"Can I help you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Jeri didn't reply, simply continuing to grin at him, adding in a small giggle.

"Go away," he growled, shooing her away with his hand.

Jeri didn't move, keeping her unblinking eyes on him. She could tell he was starting to get uncomfortable which only made it funnier.

"Go away!" the reporter barked, taking a cautious step back.

When Jeri didn't so much as flinch, the man seemed to shiver and quickly walk away, Jeri watching him. When he was out of sight Jeri laughed as Hangeng walked up behind her.

"What… did you do?" he asked, absolutely baffled.

"I told him I was taking his first born child in exchange for your car," she grinned, skipping up the steps towards the apartment.

Hangeng rolled his eyes but followed after her, handing her her luggage when they were inside.

The two took the stairs up to his floor and walked down the hall until he slipped his key in and opened the door, allowing the teen to enter first.

"Wow… not bad," she whistled, quickly shucking her shoes off and taking a quick look around the living room.

The apartment was nicely furnished and had a decent view from the balcony. There was a large cushioned sofa against the far wall with a flat screen TV set inside a black entertainment center, DVDs and CDs neatly organized inside the shelves.

"No wonder you and Setiawan get along so well; you're both neat freaks," she laughed, swiping her finger across the top of the TV only to find not a trace of dust.

"Well heaven forbid I have something I need you to do and you clean while I'm out," Hangeng teased, taking her luggage from her while she pouted at him.

"What hasn't Gantu told you while you were gone!?!" she whined, shuffling after him down the small hallway.

Hangeng laughed and opened the door to the guest bedroom, placing her suitcase on the bed as she entered behind him. The room was simple, only holding a bed, dresser and small cedar chest at the foot of the bed.

"It's so cute," she laughed, sitting on the bed.

"Good, because this is where you'll be confined to for the next fourteen days," Hangeng claimed. "I've put a slot in the door so I can slide your meals through every six hours or so."

"Are you going to handcuff me to the bed too?" Jeri grinned, wiggling her eyebrows at him.

"It's impossible to win with you isn't it?" Hangeng laughed, doing his best to ignore the innuendo in her voice.

Jeri simply grinned and followed him out of the room.

"So what are we going to do?" she asked, bouncing up behind him.

"Well, I was thinking of catching up a little before going out to the market, force feed you some Chinese food," he laughed, pulling out two glasses and pouring water into them.

"I'm alright with that, just promise me that you won't make me ingest any domestic animals… my girlish heart could take it," she claimed with a pout.

Hangeng gave her a look making her blink. "What? I've seen the documentaries! The poor kitties…"

"Fine fine, we'll stay away from that side of the market," Hangeng chuckled, offering her the water.

"Good, because I promise Jun I wouldn't be bringing any forms of life back with me and I don't think a stray cat would be an exception…" she mumbled, sipping the water.

Hangeng snickered and sat beside her on the couch, Jeri turning and swinging her legs up onto his lap.

-=-=-

"Really? The Great Wall? You should take me there before I leave too!!" Jeri laughed, her arm linked around Hangeng's elbow as the continued down the street. "But I wish for your star stopping and heart pounding fame to be the best of the best once again… even if it is a solo act."

Hangeng nodded gratefully down at her and tugged her around a corner.

"Wait… the demo's coming out a couple days after I leave?" she confirmed, Hangeng nodding. "You should show me the dance!"

"Not in the middle of the market!" Hangeng laughed. "I'll show you when we get home."

"Care to rephrase that?" Jeri snickered, giving him a look.

"Gah! I'm feeding you cat now!" Hangeng huffed, tugging her in the opposite direction.

"NOOO!!!! OK OK OK I'M SORRY!! HANNIIIEEE!!!" she cried, not able to hold back a small laugh however at their absurd conversation.

Hangeng rolled his eyes and continued down their original route, pointing out the occasional food and accessory stall.

Jeri's eyes turned across the street however when she noticed a small crowd.

"Hannie what's over there?" she asked, tugging on his arm slightly.

Hangeng followed her finger and smiled, pulling her over. "C'mon, I'll buy you some."

Jeri gave him a confused look but followed after him.

They ended up stopping in front of an older man in white with a strange looking bowl in front of him. Hangeng greeted him, Jeri giving a quick bow as well.

"Could I have a three tier one please?" he asked.

The man nodded with a smile after giving Jeri a quick glance, her eyebrow raising in confusion.

"What did you say?" Jeri asked, tugging on Hangeng's shirt.

The idol grinned and winked down at her through his sunglasses. "Watch."

Jeri pouted slightly but turned her attention back to the vendor as he started his small machine up after placing small white grains into the center. When the grains turned into a thin web of white Jeri's eyes widened.

"Is that… what I think it is??" she gaped, a smile slowly growing onto her face.

Hangeng simply chuckled and watched Jeri's elated face as the vendor continued to create her cotton candy.

The candy slowly began to take form and soon Jeri's grin was so wide Hangeng couldn't help but smile along with her.

"Oh my gosh, Hannie it's different colours! And in the shape of a flower!" she cheered, bouncing slightly as the candy became bigger and bigger.

Soon it was done and the vendor handed the finished product to the overjoyed teen, a kind smile of his own on his face. Hangeng paid him and Jeri thanked both of them profusely.

"Thank you Hannie~~♪" she sang, peeling off a piece and popping it into with a grin.

"You're very welcome," he laughed, watching her look of pure elation.

She peeled off another piece and held it up towards him with a questioning look. Letting out a short chuckle, Hangeng ducked his head and took the candy from her hand, using his free hand to help push it into his mouth before it melted.

"Naww, cutie Hannie eating cotton candy~! I want that as my phone's background!" Jeri laughed, quickly digging in her pocket for her phone.

"Ya you!" he barked, quickly reaching over to try and snatch it from her.

Jeri let out a short yelp and managed to duck out of his reach.

"You have enough picture of me from when we went out last time!" he laughed, managing to snatch the phone from her.

Jeri pouted making him laugh while slipping the phone into his jacket pocket beside his.

With a small roll of his eyes, he offered her his elbow again, only for her to do a dramatic huff and walk down the street, peeling apart her cotton candy. He watched her walk away for a few seconds before shaking his head with a smile and dashing after her, quickly slipping his hand into hers. Despite her trying to hide it, Hangeng caught a smile tug on the corner of her lips and she began to swing their hands back and forth as they continued down the street.
