The Big 1 8

Unrelenting Fortitude

knock knock knock

Jun raised his head from the coffee table and gave the door a baffled look. He tilted his head to the side so that he could give Harii and Setiawan a questioning look.

"Did anyone order pizza?" he asked, obviously tired.

"It's not even noon yet, why would we order pizza?" Setiawan replied as Harii walked over to the door.

Jun leaned back in his chair, balancing it on two legs as the Korean opened the door.

"What the..." Harii blinked, seeing the numerous sets of faces in front of him.

"Today's March 23rd!" Sungmin sang with a grin.

"Brilliant deduction Watson, now let me nap," Jun muttered, setting the chair back on the ground and laying his head back on the table.

"You guys don't remember what today is?!" Donghae whined, giving his fellow Korean a pout as he allowed them into the apartment.

"We know what that means, but the event, or eventee in this case, in question, has the day off," Setiawan stated, leaning on the door frame to the kitchen.

"So?" they chorused.

"She doesn't have to work, ergo, she won't be up for a while," Jun muttered, finally hoisting himself over to the coffee maker.

"So she's still sleeping, let's go wake her up!" Heechul stated like it was obvious.

"What would you like on your tombstone?" Harii laughed, watching the older man start down the hallway.

Heechul froze as the members all laughed. Leeteuk poked his head into the kitchen, seeing Jun pouring coffee into a little panda mug.

"No," the younger man said, not even having to turn around to know what was going to be said.

"Aww, c'mon Jun, you're the only one who can wake her up!" Shindong claimed.

"Yeah, please~?" Ryeowook begged, clasping his hands in front of his face and giving the man the best puppy-dog look he could as he walked into the living room.

Jun's face went pink and swung around, refusing to look at the group. The guys realized this and nudged Ryeowook forward.

Said man walked forward and gently tugged on Jun's sleeve, making the man turn. Ryeowook gave him another puppy-dog look, even adding a cute pout that would make his fangirls squeal.

"God damnit," Jun sighed, setting down his coffee and walking down the hall, earning cheers from the others.

Leeteuk, Sungmin and Kyuhyun followed the man down the hall until Jun opened a door and entered a pitch black room. The three popped their heads in to watch the methods Jun used to wake up his sibling.

"Up," he grunted, whacking the bed lump harshly with a pillow, making the three raise an eyebrow.

When the lump didn't so much as move, Jun walked over to the drapes and flung them apart, letting the light into the room, letting the three see the rest of the room.

The walls were a plum colour with several pictures and posters hanging on the walls. The room was obviously split into two different zones, Jeri's side and Jun's side.

Jun's side of the room was a stereotypical man's room; the bed was unmade, clothes were scattered across the floor, drawers were open. The only thing that seemed to be in order was his open closet, where his shirts and pants seemed to be organized by colour.

Jeri's side of the room was in about the same condition, but had a little less chaos; rather than clothes all over the floor, they were forming a mountain in the corner. The three also couldn't help but smile when they noticed a large picture of the two groups in Japan was hung on the wall above her bed.

The boys watched as Jun walked back over to the bed, where a large lump was still under the comforter. Jun sighed and pushed his hands under the mattress and lifted, forcing the lump to roll off of the bed and collide with the floor with a loud thump and a groan making the men cringe.

"Depending on your answer to my next question, you may or may not ever produce children au natural," a groggy voice called from the other side of the bed. "What time is it?"

Jun casually looked over at the clock on the side table. "9:35."

"WHAT!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Jeri roared, standing in a flash to show that that was clearly not the right answer.

"Hey, they told me to," he responded calmly, thumbing behind him at the three men in the doorway.

Jeri's gaze slowly shifted to them and gave them a frightening glare, making Sungmin squeak in slight fear.

"I think it's time to leave," Kyuhyun said, quickly dashing away, Sungmin and Leeteuk on his tail.

"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!" Jeri roared, running after them.

The three gave a shriek as they slid into the living room and attempted to hide behind their other members, but Jeri managed to leap onto Leeteuk, sending them both to the ground in a heap of limbs.

"IT'S. MY. BIRTH. DAY. LET. ME. SLEEP!" Jeri shouted, smacking the older man on any part of him she could with every syllable.

Setiawan intervened and easily lifted the teen off of the SuJu leader, throwing her over his shoulder and walking back into the kitchen like nothing had happened.

"Gantu! Put. Me. DOWN!!" Jeri roared, beating on the man's back in frustration.

Setiawan didn't reply, simply pouring cream into his own coffee as she pounded her fists onto his back.

The others helped Leeteuk off of the ground and the man pouted as Jun snickered in the doorway.

"I gave you fair warning," Harii laughed.

"Yeah, but why me?" Leeteuk whined, making sure none of him was bruised.

"Because you're the big brother, that's what we're there for," Jun stated like it was obvious.

"Then why didn't she attack Kyuhyun or Sungmin? They're older than her too," the leader continued.

"I'm too cute," Sungmin quipped, giving his hyung his best aegyo.

The others laughed and a couple of them poked their heads into the kitchen when Jeri stopped yelling. She had apparently given up and was resting her elbow on Setiawan's shoulder, her cheek in her hand and looked bored.

"Have you calmed down?" Setiawan asked, not seeming to have noticed her outburst in the least.

"Did you remember the sugar?" Jeri replied with a smirk.

Setiawan smirked and allowed her to slide off of his shoulder, picking up his coffee. He and Jeri walked out of the kitchen, Jeri with her eyes half closed.

"I'm not going to eat you," she sighed.

Instantly, several bodies threw themselves onto her with laughs and smiles, making Jeri squeak in surprise.

"Boys, boys! We must do this properly!" Heechul scolded, clapping his hands like a preschool teacher trying to get their attention.

Everyone got off of Jeri and Kyuhyun dragged her over to the couch and sat her down as everyone sat or stood around her.

"We want to take you somewhere for your birthday," Kangin stated with a smile.

"At ten o’clock in the morning?" Jeri questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"We want to have lots of fun before the day is up!" Eunhyuk cheered, bouncing on his .

"Fine, but am I allowed to take a shower first?" Jeri sighed with a laugh, knowing that she'd get dragged out whether she wanted to or not.

The men nodded and a couple cheered and exchanged high-fives as Jeri wandered back down the hall.

"So, what exactly are you guys going to do for the true maknae?" Harii asked with a laugh.

"We figured that we'd take her out to the amusement park and then give her a surprise dinner," Leeteuk stated, obviously having been the one to plan it all.

"Sounds more like a date then a birthday..." Jun accused, giving the older man a skeptical look.

"Yes, we all want to date your sister, do we have your permission?" Donghae joked.

"You? Absolutely not," Jun replied instantly.

The men burst out laughing as Donghae gave the younger man a shocked laugh and looked over to the others for some sort of support but they only laughed harder.

"What did I do?" Donghae cried, still baffled.

"You're not the only one, don't worry," Jun stated.

"Who would you let date Jeri?" Heechul challenged.

Jun looked out among the ten members and grinned.

"I only see two people that I would accept," he said.

"Out of eleven?!" Eunhyuk cried.

"Who are they?" Shindong asked with a grin.

Jun pointed to the two men who just happened to be sitting beside each other.

"Kyuhyun and Siwon?!" Leeteuk questioned with a laugh.

"Why us?" Siwon asked, about as baffled as the rest of them.

"Kyuhyun because their evil streaks complement each other," the guys laughed as Kyuhyun grinned knowingly. "And Siwon because ever since she was little she's wanted a pony."

All of the men burst into laughter, some of them actually toppling to the ground and smacking the floor they were laughing so hard. Siwon began frantically waving his hands back and forth in denial, the others laughing and mimicking his ever-famous gestures.

"What did you give them, double chocolate chunk cookies?" Jeri questioned from the doorway, a towel draped across her shoulders and a baffled look on her face at the mass of laughing men in her living room.

"Which one of them would you date?" Setiawan asked.

"Date? The hell would I date these guys for, they're obviously on something and not sharing..." Jeri stated, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

The laughter continued and Jeri gave Jun a look, having a feeling it was his fault in some way, shape or form.

"Do you still want a pony?" Jun asked with a straight face.

The men burst into laughter again and Jeri gave him an utterly baffled look. She sighed and rolled her eyes, walking back to her room to finish getting ready.

A couple minutes later, the members of Super Junior had managed to calm down, Jeri was ready, and the twelve set out into the world, Jun telling them, very firmly, to have her back by eleven, to which Leeteuk promised he would.

"Soooo... where are we going?" Jeri asked as the van began moving.

"To the new amusement park that opened up!" Donghae cheered from the passenger seat.

"Amusement park? You're not going to leave me alone with someone again are you?" she asked, giving Leeteuk, Eunhyuk and Heechul a look.

"Oi, if we hadn't done something about you and Kyuhyun we would've had to drag you onto Intimate Note or something," Eunhyuk stated from the driver's seat.

"Don't you think ditching us in the middle of the food court was a little extreme hyung?" Kyuhyun laughed from beside Jeri.

"I have no regrets," Leeteuk laughed from the seat behind Jeri.

Jeri simply rolled her eyes and leaned her head onto her fellow maknae's shoulder.

"No kissy faces you two," Heechul teased kicking Kyuhyun's seat.

"It's my birthday, I can make all the kissy faces I want," Jeri shot back turning in her seat to look back at him. "Besides, you wouldn't be saying that if I was making kissy faces at you."

Heechul wiggled his eyebrows making the others laugh and Jeri roll her eyes, sitting properly in her seat. She caught Kyuhyun's gaze and the two grinned at each other.

"Oh Kyutie, what are we to do? These hooligans just won't let us be together," Jeri whined dramatically, clasping his hand in hers.

"We can always run away when they're not looking; I hear Fiji's nice this time of year," Kyuhyun replied.

"Now that you've told us where you'll be feel free," Shindong laughed, making the others burst into laughter as well.

"Cookie, I'll give you fifty dollars if you keep them here while we elope," Jeri said simply.

"I wonder what Jun'll think; you eloping with Kyuhyun," Leeteuk piped up from the back.

"He did say he'd approve..." Eunhyuk laughed.

"Of them eloping?" Donghae added.

"The poor pony..." Heechul sighed, shaking his head dramatically.

The men all burst out into laughter, Jeri simply looking around with an utterly confused expression.

The two vans soon arrived at the amusement park and everyone piled out.

"We could practically hear you guys laughing from the other car... do we want to know?" Yesung asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Kyuhyun won," Shindong replied simply, motioning to behind them.

Kyuhyun and Jeri were looking at the boards outside of the large gates, Kyuhyun pointing things out on the map, and the two were holding hands.

"Awww," Ryeowook cooed, clasping his hands together.

"Nooooo!" Sungmin cried running over to them. "My Jeri!"

He flung his hands around Jeri's shoulders and stuck his tongue out at Kyuhyun, the maknae laughing and Jeri blinking in confusion.

"Do you have a license?" Jeri asked with a raised eyebrow.

"License?" Sungmin repeated.

"You claim you own me, you need a licensed agreement to keep pets," she stated with a smirk.

"Can I give you an IOU?" the man questioned, giving her his best aegyo.

Jeri laughed and got out of his grip, pulling him and Kyuhyun back over to the rest of the group.

"Alright, well, where do you want to go first?" Leeteuk asked turning to the birthday girl.

Jeri closed her eyes and raised her arms out in front of her with a smile.

"Surprise me."

Several hands grabbed her arms and tugged her through the gates, making her laugh and open her eyes.

"No food first, we don't want to see it for a second time," Donghae began, being one of the people grasping Jeri's wrist.

"Should we go to the roller coasters first then?" Ryeowook offered.

"Girls don't like roller-"

"It's a deal!!" Jeri cheered, running forward and effectively interrupting Heechul.

"The decision has been made," Siwon laughed, watching as Donghae, Ryeowook, Sungmin, Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun ran after the teen.

The others laughed and ran after the group, not wanting to get separated.

Jeri stood in the center of a small circle clearing, surrounded by roller coasters, her smile as wide as could be.

"Which one first my lady?" Kangin asked, doing a sweeping gesture around them.

"That one!" she claimed, pointing to a drop-zone type ride.

The men's slowly turned around just in time to watch it drop, sending the riders down to the ground, at jaw-dropping speeds. They were brought out of their slight intimidation when Jeri skipped by, towards the ride.

"You guys aren't coming?" she asked.

"I don't know... shouldn't we try a more... tame ride?" Ryeowook shivered.

Jeri blinked at them, shrugged and continued to the ride. She got into the line and didn't realise that one of them had followed her up the small plank. When she was seated, they sat down beside her and gave her a smile, making her laugh.

"You two look like father and daughter!" Yesung called out.

Leeteuk laughed and his face went slightly pink from embarrassment.

"At least he's up here!" Jeri shot back, a challenge in her tone.

Heechul seemed to growl and marched up the platform, followed by Yesung, Kangin and Eunhyuk. The three were seated on the other side of the column and Jeri motioned for the other guys attention.

'Get pictures of their faces' she mouthed to them making Leeteuk laugh.

They all nodded and Kyuhyun stole the camera from Shindong and ran to the other side of the ride with Donghae and Siwon.

The small beep signalling that the ride was about to start sounded and Jeri cheered, setting off a chain reaction of excited hoots and hollers.

They suddenly shot up into the air, Leeteuk shrieking in shock as Jeri simply laughed like a maniac. They got to the top and Jeri did her best to nudge the older man.

"Look down!" she laughed, seeing his eyes were shut tight.

"NO!" he laughed in terror.

"You wuss!" she teased.

Leeteuk cracked his eyes open just as they dropped, making his scream and clench them shut again, Jeri nearly wetting herself she was laughing so hard.

After the ride was over, Jeri merrily skipped of, Leeteuk trying not to sway as he walked down the small plank and Donghae ran up to them with the biggest grin.

"Look look look!" he said quickly, showing the girl the camera.

Jeri leaned over and saw that they had managed to get pictures of a very panicked looking and/or screaming Yesung and Eunhyuk both when they were going up as well as down and Heechul's eyes were so wide Jeri thought they were going to fall out of their sockets.

She allowed the others to see just as the three men in question walked over, Heechul trying to desperately fix his hair.

"Did you guys have fun?" Jeri asked, feigning innocence.

"Like a root canal," Heechul muttered, still trying to fix his hair.

Jeri rolled her eyes and ran over to the next roller coaster, some of the guys following after her, others groaning.

-=-=-=-=-=-

"That was so much fun you have no idea how much fun that was you really don't!!" Jeri rattled, bouncing around in front of the group.

"Alright, who gave her candy?" Yesung accused.

Everyone's eyes shifted over to Shindong, the man giving them an offended look.

"Why do you always think it was me?" he cried.

"What are we doing next huh huh huh?" she raved bouncing up and down so fast she was making some of them dizzy.

"First... we're going to calm... down..." Leeteuk stated, grasping her arms so that she'd stop bouncing, although this didn't do much.

"We're going to a restaurant for dinner, but you're walking since you have so much energy," Heechul stated, crossing his arms.

Jeri instantly stopped bouncing and pouted at him, crossing her own arms. The men laughed and continued walking towards the vans, Jeri climbing into the van with Yesung, Kangin, Sungmin, Siwon and Ryeowook.

"So have you enjoyed your birthday so far?" Siwon asked from the passenger seat.

"Absolutely!" she chirped. "The last time I had this much fun was when you guys took me out on that massive rampage before I left for Canada last year.

"Yeah the challenge that Hankyun and I won," Sungmin stated proudly.

Jeri's face dropped at the mention of her friend and the others glared at Sungmin, the man clapping his hands over his mouth in horror.

"Anyways, I think you'll like the restaurant, we've heard a lot of good things about it," Ryeowook said, trying to break to tense atmosphere.

"Really?" Jeri asked, turning to look behind her at him in curiosity.

"Yeah, the food as well as the staff is supposed to be top class," he smiled.

Jeri couldn't help but return it and sit back down in her seat, excited for the restaurant.

Soon enough, the vans pulled into the parking lot and everyone piled out. They all fixed themselves, wanting to not look like they had just come off of a roller coaster and walked inside.

Jeri's jaw dropped at the high-class appearing decor, even the waiters and waitresses wore well pressed uniforms.

"You guys aren't going to bill me or something are you?" she whispered as they were lead to their table.

"Of course not; this is for your birthday," Leeteuk laughed.

They got to their table and everyone sat down, Jeri in between Kyuhyun and Leeteuk. The waiter brought over a bunch of menus and handed them to everyone saying he'd be right back for their drinks.

Jeri opened the menu and her jaw nearly hit the floor.

"These prices are insane," she hissed, quickly closing the menu and placing it on the table.

"You don't like it?" Siwon asked.

"N-no, I like it, I really love it, but... are you sure?" Jeri asked, not quite sure what to do.

"Jeri, trust us, we can handle it," Kyuhyun asked, patting her hand as he continued looking over the menu.

Jeri hmmed in apprehension, but picked her menu back up and opened it. She looked over it a couple times, but felt more and more uncomfortable with the prices.

She sighed.

"Any suggestions?" she asked, placing the menu on the table open.

Leeteuk, Kyuhyun, Eunhyuk and Shindong, them being the four closest to her, all began describing the food, trying to figure out what she would like the best. The waiter came by to get their drink orders, Jeri pouting at the fact that she was the only one who wasn't allowed alcohol, a fact that she had just realized, some of the guys laughing about it.

After a couple minutes, all of the drinks came back and they all placed their orders, Jeri having given into Shindong's pestering and ordering meat. When the waiter left, the time was filled with idle chatter.

"If you could have anything in the whole wide world for your birthday, anything at all, what would you want?" Ryeowook asked, catching everyone's attention.

Eleven sets of eyes all turned to Jeri, waiting for her response. She looked down into her water, as if the answer would show up engraved on her ice cubes.

"There's a few that I'd wish for..." she whispered, her eyes falling. "But none of them are possible; they're either things from the past, unrealistic, or just plain crazy."

"What are they?" Kangin tested.

"I think you guys can already guess one," she replied.

The men all gave each other looks and Leeteuk nudged her in the arm making her look up at him, the SuJu leader nodding to behind her.

"Am I possibly one of them?"

Jeri's eyes shot wide and she swung around in her chair in disbelief.

"KIRBY!!" she shrieked in happiness, running up to him and throwing herself at him.

Kibum laughed and managed to catch her, swinging her around in a couple circles. He placed her back onto the floor and kissed the top of her head.

"Shall we?" he laughed motioning back to the table.

Jeri nodded quickly and pulled him back over to the table, Leeteuk having moved over so that Kibum could sit beside the girl.

"Jeez, we didn't think we'd have you here with us," Shindong laughed.

"It was a little tough at first, but my manager understood that it was a special occasion," Kibum replied, patting Jeri's shoulder.

Jeri grinned from ear to ear and dinner was soon full of "20 questions: the Kibum edition".

"You find yourself a giiiiirl~?" Jeri teased, giving him a devious look.

"No, I haven't, and even if I had, you'd be one of the last people I'd tell," he laughed.

"Awwww, why?" she whined.

"Because you'd be all over it," Kibum replied shortly.

"You mean all over her," Heechul corrected.

The guys burst into laughter and Jeri glared at the older man.

Their food showed up and Jeri insisted that Kibum order something as well, his former members backing her up until the actor gave in and got himself some food. As everyone was eating, Jeri caught Leeteuk whispering to Kibum, the younger man nodding with a smile and a laugh that she chose to ignore for now.

"That was delicious!" she sighed, placing her utensils on her plate and wiping .

"Are you ready for your next present?" Donghae asked with a grin.

Jeri gave him a confused look. "I thought this entire outing was the present..."

"Well it was, but we have another present to give you," Sungmin hummed with a smile.

Jeri gave them an apprehensive look but nodded none the less. The eleven men, yes, including Kibum, stood up and walked a bit so that they were all standing in the little area in front of the table.

"You guys aren't going to do a or something are you?" Jeri questioned, raising an eyebrow. "Because if you are I'm getting my camera and selling it online."

"You wish we were stripping for you," Eunhyuk laughed.

"No comment," Jeri grinned, making the men laugh.

The twelve began humming to get in tune with each other, and a couple of the other patrons looked in their direction in curiosity.

"Seng il chook ha hamni da~. Seng il chook ha hamni da~! Sa rang ha nuen Jeri~. Seng il chook ha hamni da!!" They sang, a few of them doing a silly little dance as they did.

While they were singing, one of the waiters came out with a cake covered in candles and sparklers. Jeri laughed and clapped in a mix of embarrassment and happiness as he placed it on the table. Everyone in the restaurant cheered and clapped, most likely for the fact that Super Junior just gave them a free show, and Jeri blew out the candles, making the twelve men clap and cheer.

"What did you wish for?" Ryeowook asked.

"World peace now let me eat my cake," she replied, making the others laugh.

She carefully cut the cake, making sure everyone's piece was the same size and distributed it. Rather than eating his cake, Kyuhyun took a piece of it and pushed it into her face, making the others burst into laughter and Jeri push a piece of her own cake into his face.

The night continued until it was getting late. Kibum's ride came around 10, Jeri doing her best not to shed any tears as she said goodbye and that one of these days she'd go and visit him.

A bit after that, everyone got back into their vans and drove to Jeri's apartment. When they got there, she gave each one of them a hug and a kiss on the cheek, thanking them profusely for the amazing day.

She watched the two vans drive away and walked up to her apartment. She slipped her key into the slot and opened the door, a large smile on her face.

"Did you have fun?" Setiawan's voice called out from the living room.

"Whoever they find in the future for honeys are some lucky people," she replied, pulling off her shoes.

"That good huh?" Harii laughed, turning around in his seat on the couch. "Did Kibum manage to show up?"

"How did you know Kirby showed up?" she asked him.

"I'm in the same drama as him, remember? I told him about how he should at least come say happy birthday to you and he said he'd figure something out," he explained. "He called a couple hours ago to make sure you were here, and I told him you were at the restaurant with the guys."

"I texted Leeteuk and told him that Kibum was coming for a surprise and not to tell you," Jun smirked from the floor.

"Well thank you, it was the best surprise I've ever had," she smiled.

"Not so fast, there's another one in your room," Setiawan interrupted as she began walking away.

Jeri gave him a confused look and he waved her away. She slowly walked towards her room and peeked in. Nothing seemed different, but she noticed that the cordless phone was one her bed and blinking. She closed the door and walked over to it. She picked it up, pressed the talk button and held it up to her ear.

"Hello?"

"Technically it's Nǐ hǎo, but I think I'll let it slide this time," a male voice chuckled from the other end.

Jeri clapped her hand over to stop herself from crying and sunk down onto her bed, tears b her eyes.

"...Jeri?"

"Hannie," she whimpered.

"Awww, I didn't want you to cryyy~" he whined from the other end.

"No no no, they're tears of joy I promise," she sniffed, trying to stop her eyes from leaking any more.

"You promise?" he tested.

"Cross my heart," she croaked, clutching the phone with both hands.

"So, I know you hate it when people buy you things... but I wanted to get you something so that you always remember me," Hangeng began.

"I have your name tattooed on my pelvis, I can't forget about you even if I wanted to," she laughed.

"Shush you," he laughed. "Anyways, Setiawan said that he got it in the mail and put it near the phone..."

Jeri stood up from the bed and looked around. She the light and noticed a small box sitting on her pillow. She placed the phone in between her ear and her shoulder and picked up the box.

"Nothing's going to jump out and eat me is there?" she joked.

"Aw damn, you caught me," Hangeng laughed.

She laughed with him and opened the box to see another small velvet box inside. She placed the first box beside her and opened the velvet box. Once she saw what was inside, her eyes widened.

"Hangeng..." she gasped.

"I had it engraved by one of my friends; he's handy like that," he laughed.

"My Chinese is a little rusty..." she began, picking up the piece of jewelry.

"It says 'Love you forever'," he replied, a smile in his tone.

"Are you proposing to me?" Jeri laughed, twisting the ring in her hand.

There was a few seconds of silence from Hangeng's end, then Jeri could make out the obvious sounds of him trying to hold back laughter.

"I love you but not that much," he laughed. "Besides, proposing over the phone isn't very romantic."

"Soooo, maybe next time?" she joked.

"Yeah, maybe next time," he agreed.

Jeri slipped the ring onto her middle finger on her left hand and smiled down at it.

"I'll never take it off."

"You don't have to wear it all the time," Hangeng laughed.

"What if I want to?" she retorted with a pout.

She could make out more laughter from the other side of the phone and heard him take a breath.

"Happy 18th birthday Jeri."

And nice chapter as usual... can't wait to read more.
PS since this is SM Town Live, will I be seeing a cameo of the TVXQ boys anywhere? hahaha XD I'm just being curious...
