Chapter 7

Her first week in Korea went by quickly. Yonghwa helped her with directions whenever she needed to go somewhere. They had some meals together but most of the time it’s only her as Yonghwa is very busy and mostly out of the house. She had started going to graduate school and is bewildered with everything. It has been a while since she attended school and her Korean isn’t really that good so she keeps to herself most of the time afraid to say the wrong things. She’s planning to take on Korean classes during her free time because so far the only teacher she has is Yonghwa. On her first week of school she met and became friends with Sunny, Yuri and Sooyoung. Sunny came from Canada while Yuri and Sooyoung, are both originally from Seoul. They hit it off instantly because they were all late for their first day and first class making them sit with each other. Seohyun and Sunny were introduced to some of Yuri and Sooyoungs friends.

The 4 were out to watch a movie when they passed by a record bar, Sunny and Yuri were looking for some albums while Sooyoung was looking at some posters. Seohyun who was not really familiar with Korean music decided to join Sooyoung.

“You know what? It’s very rare for idols to stay on top of their game for both male and female groups. For female groups, well they marry then have children. For men, they usually lay low after getting back from military service so CNBLUE is really lucky, good thing they’re talented I mean all four of them are musicians and actors and what not” Sooyoung said while looking at CNBLUE’s poster.

Seohyun nodded then added “Not only talented but they are also good guys”

Sooyoung looked at her “ As if you’d know!”

“I just know ok! Hey I’m a fan!”

“If you’re a fan then sing something from CNBlue for me”

She paused, pouted her lips and began singing “Oetoriya oetoriya, I’m sorry I’m sorry! Can’t stop me now can’t stop me now”

“You do realize that that’s 3 songs you mashed all together?” Sooyoung cut in while laughing

“Hey no hating! I’m getting there ok!” Seohyun laughed

Sooyoung then took 1 roll of CN’s poster paid for it and handed it to her

“What’s this for? She asked

“You’re a fan right? Hang this on your wall and start learning how to fan girl, if you’re still clueless look at those two” while pointing at the shrieking Sunny and Yuri in the corner.

“This is a joke right?” Seo said while taking the poster

“Nope, It’s time for you to start being a full fledge Korean!”

Yonghwa was mindlessly changing channels, he can’t seem to stay and watch one show when he heard the door opening and closing.

“What’s up Yong!” Soehyun greeted him enthusiastically

“Nothin much Hyun, what’s with the overflowing joy?”

“Well I passed my first test, I didn’t ace it though but I passed! Best thing about it? Questionnaire is in hangul! Take that!” forgot that she’s now using the poster to point at Yonghwa

Yonghwa then grabbed the rolled up paper “Is this the exam?” Rolling out the poster before she can even protest

“Wow Hyun!” Looking at her with a goofy smile on his face and big eyes

“I didn’t know you’re a fan! You don’t have to buy it! We can just take a picture especially for you! I didn’t know you’d want it?” Yonghwa while laughing

She then grabbed the poster and rolled it back “Don’t flatter yourself Mister! This right here is my key to the KPOP world!”

“What?”

“My friend bought me this and said that for me to be a full fledged Korean, I have to learn how to fan girl so I can go with them to concerts and I’ll start with this!” Seohyun smiling while holding the poster triumphantly

“You start your fan girl mission by having someone buy your first KPOP poster?! Yippeee for enthusiasm!” both his hands in the air doing the manse

“Ow come on it’s a start! Right?! Problem is what I’ll do next! Do I now scream every time I see you? Wait that would mean almost everyday? That is so weird! Do I have to get autographs from you guys? Wait you 4 might ask me to cook dinner..hmmm” Seohyun pondering while going inside her room
