Chapter 34

Joohyun made her way upstairs to Ia’s room when she heard the kids laughing, she peeked at the semi opened door

“Kids that’s enough dinners ready, you still got school tomorrow” she look at the 3 who was talking to someone on the computer screen.

It has already been a month since their trip in Korea. The first week was hell because of the news about her and her family however it suddenly stopped exactly a week after but still random people seems to be dropping by the 3 restaurants asking about Joohyun, Yonghwa or the kids to which the employees were warned. She talked to Buddy about it and what’s best to do since the safety of the kids is on the line.

“Let us not say anything for now and ignore everything however if they do anything further than writing or if the article gets to much, I’ll take care of it”

“Coming mom, we’ll just say goodbye to uncle Yong” Maki answered

“Hurry up” as she turned around and closed the door leaving behind the 3

“Still mad?” Yonghwa looked at the huddled bunch on his screen and he can't help but laugh, Ysa sitting on Makis lap sporting her Tangled costume while MAki is wearing the braided blonde wig, Ia sitting beside them tucking her knees inside her shirt, face complete with eye glasses and was biting her pen. 

“We don’t know, she never says anything whenever we mention you, I guess the dragon is now sleeping. You should’ve seen her blow up after we got back from there poor aunt Tae, Uncle Jong, Uncle Jungshin and Uncle Minhyuk” Ia giggled

“It was like she was summoning the angel of death everytime she speaks with them”

“Good thing you’re miles away poor Ysa too young to lose her dad if ever” The older kids laughed

“Yah!!!”

The kids laughed harder including Ysa

“Oh Uncle Yong how on earth are you gonna fix things with mom” as their laughter died down

“I’m working on it”

“work faster coz you being our dad is becoming less and less a possibility! We can no longer hold any suitors off! We are feeling such brats!” Maki eyed him

“I know like for real the next eye roll that I do in front of those men will earn me a big slap and I won’t let you off that easily if that happens to me “APPA” you won’t like having your big daughter to be slapped by EOMMA right??!” Ia smirking at the screen

“I know kids relax!”

“Want us to relax for real?” Maki was smiling mischievously now

“That’s not what I meant I mean I’m working on it okay just hang on”

A faint shout came from downstairs

“I swear if you 3 are not by the dinner table at the count of 10 you are all grounded!!”

“we gotta go! Ysa say bye bye to daddy!” Maki holding the childs arms to wave

“I love you kids!”

One early afternoon.

“Joohyun, how are my grand kids” Her father asked  as they were waiting for their lunch

“Their doing well pops, Maki has been spending a lot of time with his friends. He has been juggling basketball and football practice for the last month. I don’t know how he does it but we watched all his games regularly and he’s by far one of the best. He still does volunteer soccer coaching during the weekend for the kids but I think he is thinking of stepping down, I was pestering him last weekend that barely get to see him!” Joohyun laughed

“No wonder the poor boys always complaining about you girls! Leave him alone Joohyun give your son a break.”

“ But dad he’s got too much on his hands and for real he seems to disappear most of the time and well he’s my only son” Joohyun pouted thinking about the one man who won’t ever break her heart.

“Hey you’re too clingy with your son! The boys 15 let him live in peace. Is Marcus aware of his son’s activities?”

“I talk to him from time to time to update him of the kids, he has his hands full as well with those little tykes of his”

“How many children does he have now?”

“Well aside from the two big ones, he got 2 more and 1 on the way so 5!”

“Good thing you guys are already divorced! You might have produced a whole basketball team!” his dad jokingly said and they both laughed

“How about Ia and college? Has she decided where to go? Is she planning to stay within the area?”

“I wanted her to go to Stanford, but she wants to take up designing or journalism, she said that she’s not a Standford type of kid. I told her that whatever she wants to take up that’s fine by me but she seems undecided, I always see Ia as someone concrete and well planned but right now that is not the case. She seems confuse but I guess she wanted to leave, you know? She has many choices, I am not showing off or anything but she can choose any Ivy League College or a small town college to go to I don’t care about the money as long as I can keep her safe and happy.  Marcus offered she stay with them if she decided to go to UCLA but I doubt she’d want to be monitored by her dad” She laughed

“What if she decided to study out of the country?” her father looking at her while sipping his drink

She was looking at the fountain of the restaurant while thinking

“As much as I would like her to go reach for her dreams, I can’t let her go that far, she is still my baby and there are many scary people around” she pointed out matter – of – factly.

Her dad chuckled

“Joohyun,is the world that scary to you? Let her go and let her find what she wants to be, you have raised an intelligent and smart kids, don’t limit her like that. Don’t think that she will make the same mistakes as you did, we are not her parents, and you must know you are a better parent than mama and I were”

“But I’m scared for them dad, people are not that kind. I was lucky enough to have weaved through my life, I was barely fairing well! But what about them? You saw what happened to me.”
