Chapter 21

Yonghwa looked at Seohyun who was slumped on the floor crying. He knew exactly the words to say to hurt her but he knows it’s for the best. ing cliché he thought. The best my . If she continues holding on to him in his current situation he can’t promise her and the kids their safety, safety from everyone around him.

She stood up looking lost and went inside their study room while he stood their with tears falling looking at the close door saying a silent “sorry my love”

“Seohyun” Hyohyeon was now sitting beside her. It was a week after her confrontation with Yonghwa. She has been staying at Hyoyeons house for a few days now and had been crying since last night since the engagement date was officially announced through media.

“I’m really sorry I don't know what else to say about Yonghwa” she was now crying loudly in Hyoyeons arms.

“I still think that this is part of the drama publicity, and he was just going along with it ,why in world would they set the engagement the same day as the dramas press conference?” she looked at her friend who also has tears in her eyes

“He doesn’t love her Hyo, it’s me, it’s me he loves and I know it and I feel it”

“Everythings going to be okay, but how would you know if you’re here? You need to go home so you can talk to him or atleast know what is to happen next and clear things out” her friend reasoned

She looked into blank space while tears continue to drop from her eyes

“You know what? I readied myself for this. If I continue to be with him I might be his downfall, I know sooner or later we would end. I was just too selfish I guess. I wanted to be happy and happiness means him. It was wrong of me to try to grab hold of someone like him, maybe Marcus was right all along, I am delusional” she smiled despite of the tears, the saddest smile Hyoyeon had seen and it broke her heart to see such energetic and enthusiastic girl like that.

During the days she stayed away from him, she was coming to a resolve, she already know what she had to do. If Yonghwa needs to do something, she’ll let him be, no questions asked but she is not willing to stay to watch this all. It was too much for her, there is only so much her heart can take. She still needs a piece of her for her kids, she can not be broken like before. She went home ready to face Yonghwa but was surprised to be greeted by his mother instead

“Oh Omma I’m sorry I didn’t know you’re here”

“Joohyuna how are you child?”

“I am doing well are you with appa?”

“Yes they just went out to fix some paper works for the apartment”

“I see, paperworks for the apartment?” she tried looking at the woman in the eyes but failed

“Didn’t Yong tell you that he will be moving out? Since they will be having the engagement party tomorrow, the press may snoop around more and might find out his living arrangements, he was afraid of your privacy so he decided to move out. I don’t know what happened, I wish I knew but all I can say is sorry” The old woman looked at her in the eyes with sincerity while holding her hand

“ah that one yes he mentioned, he didn’t have to but I understand, No need to be sorry omma I guess we are just not meant for each other. He deserves someone like her and she will be very good to you and a great addition to the whole family.” Smiled weakly

“Joohyun I-“

 “I’ll just be going to my room omma, if you need anything please let me know. I am having a series of headaches for the past couple of weeks I’m really stressed out in school”

The woman hugged her tightly as if to give her strength. She hugged her back but quickly turned around afraid to break down in tears in front of his mother.

In truth, Yong never mentioned anything. She cried again when she entered her room.  She had been crying endlessly for god knows how long.  She lied down, if he’s leaving she doesn’t want to see. For what it’s worth she thought, she’ll send him off with a smile. She’s tired now very tired and she knows Yonghwa is too. Maybe it’s time to stop she thought. This is the last thing she will do for him. She will silently step back and out of the picture. Less complications, specially for him.

It was the day of engagement and press conference and Yonghwa will be moving out the next day.She was about to go leave for school when she heard their apartment door. There they stood face to face for the first time in what seems like forever.

Yonghwa looked at her with sad and longing eyes “I thought you already left”

“I was about to leave” she looked at him thinking if she should ask the question or not but her irrational mind won “is this it Yonghwa?”

“Yes” he avoided her eyes

The can instantly feel the stinging in her eyes and soon tears starts cascading “do you love her?” she asked without breaking her stare at his face

“Yes”

“tell me honestly did you ever loved me?”

Silence engulfed the room, she stood there to what feels like hours when she realized that she won’t be getting any answers she stepped to the side to put her shoes on. She was about to close the door when she heard his voice

“No”

She closed the door and cried her heart out on the hallway. She doesn’t care if people see her hearing him say that was like a knife slicing her little by little.

After her class, she found herself standing at the engagement hall where a lot of people are starting to gather, people from the media and fellow actors and actresses.

“What are you doing Joohyun? Do you really want to stop your heart from beating to be able to move on? Why are you doing this to yourself? Are you planning to beg him to be with you instead?” she silently asked when suddenly a hand grasp her arm

“Unnie! Are you here for our party? I know you are as surprised as I am. I’m sorry about you and oppa.” Shinhye showing a disappointed face “But why are you dress so casually? Come on I have some spar
