Chapter 36

Joohyun woke up to a headache because of lack of sleep, she was sure wasn’t able to get even a descent nap. She moved closer to Ia and hugged her eldest back. Now that Yonghwa is here she knows that any wall that she may have built over the last couple of years will soon crumble and it’s only a matter of time. She could visualize the cracks that started during their vacation in Korea and this doesn’t put her at ease. The mere fact that she doesn’t know how long he will be staying with them gives her the shivers. Yep good shivers, and that scared the out of her. She sigh thinking about the coming days

“let it out it’s okay” Ia mumbled then turned around to face her. She touched her mothers face and traced the dark circles that formed in her eyes. She smiled.

“Mom, don’t fight what’s inevitable. You’ll only get tired and it’s useless. He’s here it must mean something and don’t start with it’s because of Ysa, we all know it’s only part of it”

“Do you really think me and uncle Yong can work out?”

Ia chuckled how in the world is she the one giving advise to her mother.

“It did before and it will again”

“But isn’t that’s were it all went wrong? Aren’t you even going to question why me and dad didn’t work out?”

“You and dad and You and uncle Yong are in completely different situation. It’s like you and a Neanderthal vs. you and a Cro-Magnon don’t you even see the pun there?” as Ia began to laugh

She giggled at her overly eccentric daughter

“Hey who do you consider who?!” as they now both erupted in laughter “But okay I do , I get you,  but what I mean is you’ve seen how it was before with dad and I, we did try but we just couldn’t what if this wouldn’t as well? What if it goes crazy again?”

“Ma you really want me to spell it out?”

Joohyun could only stare

“It’s as simple as wanting it. This is from a childs point of view okay and no matter how pea brain and I have many differences, I know he’ll agree to me on this, we saw, as your kids, when you and dad where trying to patch thigns up, you both never wanted it, everyone can see that you were just doing it because of us and so it never worked. Try working into something without putting your heart to it and you’ll sure fail, it was the same thing but with you and Uncle Yong, even the most stupid person can see you love and want each other and that’s enough reason for things to work out between you two. Did he tell you to get back together?”

“Not really he said he wanted a second chance”

“Because that’s all he needs ma, I don’t think he’s that dumb to mess up again and ask for a third chance, give him that chance, what are you so afraid of? Heartaches? You’ve gone through that already and you are okay”

“I don’t think I can emotionally invest more with your Uncle Yong, you saw what happened during our visit in Korea, we were not even together, imagine if we were! What if he chickens out again and decides for the both of us and leave?”

“I understand where you’re coming from but Ma you gotta let go of all those fears! If he wants out and walks away then it’s his lost not yours, you’ve done what needs to be done. Then you won’t have any shoulda woulda coulda moments.” Ia was starting to get frustrated but sad, she didn’t know her mother harbors that much fear when it comes to loving. She didn’t know how broken her mothers heart was because she never showed it to them. She sat up still facing Joohyun

“If you’re scared because of us, because of what people might say to us don’t even bother, we don’t live in Korea, we don’t have to explain to people, our friends know who we are, we know the type of person we are, they can say anything they want, I mean people will talk but that’s it, they will eventually outgrow their hate towards us because they’ll start to have a life, a life that requires them to work instead of sitting infront of their laptops obsessing over Uncle Yong or else their electricity and gas bills will pile up. Marc and I are okay ma, think of you and Ysa, give Ysa a chance to be with him, to grow up with a father, if you feel that’s were you went wrong with us, then it’s time that you redeem yourself through Ysabelle”

Joohyun looked at Ia then opened her arms wide

“I need a hug”

Ia rolled her eyes but lied down again and gave her mom a tight bear hug

“You really think so sweetie”

Ia smiled from her moms embrace

“I know so”

Joohyun was only at the top of the stairs when she heard noises coming from the kitchen, she knows Maki still inside his room and it’s definitely not Ia which only leave 1 more person

“Why you up so early?”

“oh hey good morning to you too! I can’t sleep time difference”

She moved toward the dining area and surveyed what was on the table

“not bad! I see that you’ve been fending well” she smiled at him

“Perks of living ALONE” he enunciated the last word as if implying something. Joohyun looked at him for a second and went straight to him.

“Give me the apron, go sit I don’t want you to burn my house down”

“Yah!!! That was not nice! Everything on the table is edible!” he pointed out as he tried untying the apron from his back which he seems to be having a problem untying

“Tsk turn around!” Joohyun ordered him to which he complied smiling. She then put on the apron and grab the pot holder to turn the omelette. Yonghwa saw the hanging string and went to her back to tie it. Joohyun could feel his warmth because of him standing so close. It didn’t escape her on how Yonghwa deliberately let his hands linger on her waist and his face so close to her that she feels tiny electric waves radiating all through out her body.

“ehem. Please keep those r-18 scenes behind close doors we still have a PG-15 and a GP here” as Ia made her way to the breakfast table and sat. The two adults both had red faces and stepped away from each other. Yonghwa checked if Ysa’s already awake, he brought her downstairs and sat her on her baby chair.

“Woah! Who do we have here!?” Maki’s voice boomed in the dining area and went straight to Yonghwa to give him a manly hug.  He grabbed his energy drink and sat to eat breakfast “When did you arrive?
