“Eomma!” Yonghwa shouted from the door excitedly and giveng his mom a bear hug

“Aw! Yah are you a kid?! Man up Yonghwayah! You’re an embarrassment!” his mother replied. He took the bags that his mother was carrying and headed to the kitchen. As he put the bags on the counter top, his mother looked inside the fridge while his dad sat on the sofa.  Joohyun not knowing that they have visitor went out of the room carrying a book.

“Yong do we-“ her sentence was cut short as her eyes were met by someone else’ eye. She bowed automatically not knowing who the man was.

“Uh dad mom, this is Joohyun, Joohyun my mom and my dad”

“Good afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Jung I’m joohyun but you can also call me Seohyun, would you like something to drink? To eat perhaps? You might be tired?” she asked nervously and is still bowing

The couple stiffled their laughter while  looking at her  “Hello Joohyun, we’re okay we just dropped by to give these to you two” his mother pointing at the side dishes she brought

She stood straight on to bow once more to give thanks “oh thank you very much maam, I try my best to cook Korean dishes but I’m afraid I still have to practice more” She walked to the kitchen smiling. This is the first time that she’s seeing them so she must be extra careful to avoid mistakes.

“Please don’t call me maam you’re making me feel so old call me eomma I would like that”

She then replied shyly “Ne, omma”

His mother showed her the dishes that she brought, which one by one she kept inside the fridge. Their conversation led to different cooking techniques which she knows very well. She felt excited and scared at the same time. While the 3 were in the kitchen, his father decided to join in from the living room and sat on one of the chairs in the dining area.

“Seohyun, how’s your stay in Korea so far? I hope Yonghwa isn’t give you any headaches” he chuckled

“All has been well sir”

“Ehem” Mr. Jung jokingly cleared his throat

“I'm sorry, I mean appa” she smled shyly “I am currently in the middle of my 1 year in grad school and I have been learning a lot and Yonghwa has been a great support system”

“See I’m good!” he smiled proudly looking at his mom and dad

“Yeah right, go out for a bit and let us talk to Seohyun alone so we’ll know the truth” his mothere jokingly ushered him out the kitchen

“Eomma!” as he stomp his foot

“Omo! Seohyuna are you sure you like him? Well I think the kids are mentally older than him” the three laughed at Yonghwas expense

“Seohyun tell us more about your kids”

She looked at Yonghwa surprised that his parents knows alot about her, he nodded encouraging her to speak

She smiled “ My eldest Victoria she is 15 currently at the top of her class, also works for the school news paper and my youngest is Marc Angelo 13 loves sports and is coaching little league.”

The two elders nodded smiling “ do you have photos of them?”

“Yes let me get them for you” she smiled widely ran to the room and returned with her phone in hand. The two elders looked at the photos in her phone

“They look so much like you Joohyun” as they looked at the photos one by one

“Please don’t take this the wrong way but now I feel sorry for your ex husband!” Mrs. Jung laughed

“I don’t think the kids got anything from him!” Mr. jung added

Joohyun chuckled “a lot of people have said that”

“Are you having a hard time raising teenagers Joohyun?” Mr. Jung asked

“No appa not at all, I have tried to raised the kids the best way I know how with the help of my family and I am grateful to no end that I am blessed with wonderful children”

The couple smiled looking at her giving her phone back “You’re lucky, Yongie here was the biggest headache we got!”

“Me again! Always me!” Yonghwa whined

“Why who else but you! If we have kids like Joohyun we wouldn’t have had a problem!” Mrs Jung laughed

“but admit it Omma I made up for it! Im like the best son there is!”

“I’ll think about that!” the 3 again laughed

 Of course they know about her, Yonghwa told them. After the short talked she excused herself and went to her room to give the family their own privacy. She concentrated on her school report that she didn’t realize the time until a knock came to her door. When she opened the door she saw Yonghwa all dressed up .

“Joohyun my parents and I are just eating out” Mrs Seo then said “ And you’re coming with us”

Seohyun who doesn’t know what transpired during her time inside her bedroom knows better and instead declined. “No thank you omma, you only see Yonghwa once in a while best that you spend your timealone with him” she smiled

“None sense child we are just getting dinner instead of cooking. I insist you join we don’t want to leave you alone here when we can have you join us” Replied Mrs. Jung

“I don’t mean to be rude omma but I’m really ok please go ahead without me”

“I insist Joohyun. We know you’re here alone and might be missing your family so think of us as one after all you are living with Yonghwa” said Mr Jung

“But wh-“ she was cut off

“Don’t be afraid, you’re with us. Come on now, you boys go out I’ll help her get dress” Mrs. Jung ushered her inside her room to change.

“Mom she’s not 5 years old I think she can get dress without your help” Yong pointed out

“Yonghwayah, have you ever heard of girls talk?” his mom answered “ now go, wait for us”

The two men left and closed the door behind them

Joohyun spoke up “ Eomma, I odn’t think it’s a good idea for your family to be seen with me”

“and why is that?” his mom looked at her

“I’m afraid people might see and stir something up” she looked down

His mom stood up from being seated at the bed and stood in front of her

“Joohyunah there is nothing wrong with that, Yonghwa is no longer young I think it’s about time to introduce to his fans the thought of him being with someone”

“but it might hurt their career and I don’t want to be responsible for that” she looked at the lady who’s eyes have nothing but sympathy and understanding
