Chapter 38

Everyone was scurrying around the garden table bringing out food for lunch. Buddy was sitting at the garden patio reading Ysa a book. Nana was busy checking on her pineapple pudding, Joohyun cooking while Mary and Ia were outside arranging plates.

“Are we having a party? How come there’s so many food?” Joohyun asked

“No, just a get together with the famiy, we haven’t had a meal with everyone present eversince Yonghwa came so this is nice. ” Nana answered her “By the way, where is he? He with Maki?”

“Yup. They said they’ll just shoot some hoops then go directly here but they’re taking too long so I don’t know where else they went” she shrugged. She was garnishing the food when the doorbell rang

Ia ran and opened the door “Hey papa!” she hugged her grandfather

“Hey sweetpea! How are you?” he hugged her back then gave her a package containing art supplies

“Yay! Thanks! Doing good”

“You ready for graduation?” as they walked back to the kitchen

The girl laughed “As ready as I could be!”

“Hey everyone” he greeted them. Joohyun kissed her father on the cheek. Though her parents separted, they remained friends. It was the only wish of Nana and Buddy that they do for the sake of their only child

“I didn’t know you’d come!” Joohyun looking at her father

“Why will I miss this occasion!”

“Occasion?” she looked at him puzzled “what occasion?”

Mary dragged her ex husband out “Come and help me with the table napkins” Joohyun looked at her parents retreating back and went back to finishing the main course when the doorbell rang again

Ia ran while shouting “I’ll get it!”

“What are you doing here?!” Joohyun now eyeing Tiff and Family and Jess and Family

“Aunt Mary said they’ll be free lunch and so free lunch it is!” Nick answered

The house was already full of noise. Adults laughing and kids running around. They were all in the garden when they heared voices from inside the house.

“They’re here!” Nana shouted as all heads turned to the garden patio

Out came Mr. and Mrs. Jung with Yonghwas brother and his family with Maki in tow.

Her eyes grew wide open in surprise

“Appa! Eomma!” she shouted and walked to the newly arrived guest with arms wide open

“Aw Joohyun! How are you child?” as the two woman hugged.

“I’m doing fine. How are you! I’m surprised! Yong never mentioned you’ll be visiting!”

“It’s a surprise!”

Yonghwa was leaning on the car waiting for the older kids to come out from school. He has been waiting for 10 mins when he heard the school bell rang. He only needed to count to 3 before he saw herds of students pouring out of school. He smiled looking at the kids remembering his own childhood. He was surprised when most of the girls who passed him looked at him and squealed.

“OMG is that Jung Yonghwa of CNBLUE?!”

“so it’s true that he’s not in Korea!”

“gosh don’t tell me he’s here for the Cho siblings?!”

One didn’t even hide her shyness and approached him

“Excuse me are you Jung Yonghwa of CNBLUE?”

To which he smiled and bowed. The girls who are KPOP fans shouted and gathered around him asking for pictures and autographs

“Maki can you stop being a jerk for once and hurry up?” Ia waited impatiently for her brother by his locker she added with an annoyed expression “Uncle Yong is waiting outside”

“I know! You don’t have to shout!” he answered his sister

The two walked down the school corridors

"So when are you leaving?"

 “Are you that excited for me to leave?” punching her brothers arm.

He looked at her

“For what it’s worth, I’ll miss you, I won’t have any one to fight with and I’ll miss bugging you. I'll miss teasing you, I'll bickering with you, it's like I'll miss myself. Ysa is my princess and she’s my favorite sister so yeah I’ll miss you.” He put his arms around her shoulders.

"I..I don't know what to say peabrain! I'm touched, I feel like crying now" as she started dabbing her eyes for fake tears

They were standing in the school grounds looking amazed at the happenings at the school parking lot, people are gathering for some reasons

“Where’s uncle Yong?” as they moved forward

“beats me” he answered. As they came closer their eyes grew wide and laughed so hard

“Hey hey hey everyone dear heavens! That’s my uncle and not me, please excuse us”

Maki was towering over the fan girls while making his way to Yonghwa who was smiling and giving autographs.

“I’m sorry my kids are here we have to go” he said to everyone who gathered. He bowed and held out his hand to help Ia with the crowd

“They are not your kids!” some shouted,

some even shouted “I’ll be your kid!”

and someone shameless even said “I can make kids with you!” to which Ia looked horrendously and shook her head at the gathering crowd in disbelief

Maki sat on the passenger seat while Ia sat at the back

“That’s unbelievable Uncle Yong! I never knew that many and I mean many kids know you! Where was I when all these where happening?” Ia said while buckling her seatbelt

“Geez you’ll end my career in this school Uncle! Those are my girls let me remind you not yours” Maki looked at him

He chuckled “of course they’re all yours!”

“So were are we going?”

“The mall”

“You treating us for dinner? Why? Does mom know?” Ia asked suspiciously

“Yes mom knows that I’ll be taking you two out” he answered the kids patiently

They sat at one of the popular restaurants and ordered their food, while waiting Ia can’t stop herself

“Uncle Yong, why are you twitching? Stop fidgeting and why are you so tense?”

“Me? Tense? Of course not” trying to exuberate confindence in his words
