Chanyeol/fem!Chen || words: 2120 || tags: wolf!au || summary: Chanyeol is a teacher’s pet, literally.

Chen slams the book on her table to get her students’ attention. When that works, she clears and greets them with a smile. “Good morning, class.” Chen grins. “I take it you’ve studied last week, am I correct?” There were a series of mumbles and murmurs. “So who’s up for some pop quiz?” And cue in groan.

“But teacher~”

“That’s not fair~”

“No excuses,” She claps her hand in finality making her students groan. “I’ll give you a few minutes to take a quick –“

“Teacher, teacher!”

Chen looks at the direction of where the voice came from with brows raised. “Yes, Soojung?”

Eleven years old Jung Soojung tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and giggles. “Teacher, I think you have a visitor waiting for you.” She pointed towards the open door of the classroom, joining the giggles and laughs from her other classmates once they saw who the young girl was pointing at.

“Visitor?” Chen hums in confusion. “What visitor – oh!” A series of loud laughs erupted the room. Chen lets out a sigh and shakes her head in disbelief, a smile adorning her face. “Chanyeol, what are you doing here?”

Pointed ears with a fluffy black and white fur, Chanyeol looks at his owner with those clear blue eyes as he barks happily. Chanyeol was a mix breed because he doesn’t look like a pure husky. Chen doesn’t know what, though, because when she first saw the pup, he was running around the alley covered with dirt and mud.

Ever since Chen decided to take in the stray, Chanyeol never left her side. From going to work down to grocery shopping, Chanyeol was always tailing behind her. It’s not that she doesn’t mind, because she really doesn’t. But sometimes it gets too much that she finds it hard to go out on dates without Chanyeol growling aggressively to the poor guy. Chen felt sorry, especially to her best friend, Luhan, who’s the one in charge of fixing blind dates to her still single friend.

“Chanyeol, seriously?” Chen giggles in delight when Chanyeol nuzzles her cheek as she pets his soft head, trailing her fingers down on his back.

What she doesn’t know, Chanyeol hides a secret. A secret that Chanyeol doesn’t want his human to know.

After deeming the human asleep, Chanyeol runs towards the forest on the edge of the suburbs. And once he entered a small clearing in the middle of the forest, Chanyeol’s paw shifted into fingers – a human hand. The same happened on his legs and then, it happened all over his body. Chanyeol breathes deeply, catching his breath for shifting back in his human form was always a tiring feat.

“Oh, you’re back.”

Chanyeol groans and cracks his neck from left and right. “Oh god, shifting freaking .”

The man behind him, Yifan, raised his brows and scoffs in amusement. “That’s what happens when you stay on your wolf form for too long.” He folds his arms against his chest. “May I remind you that you’re our pack’s head alpha, Chanyeol, not a house dog?”

“Aw,” Chanyeol grins. “Chen’s amazing! I want to live there forever!”

Hearing that made Yifan frown. “Alpha, you know you can’t. You still have responsibilities left here. Ten wolves are awaiting for you in our place. They still think you’re still looking for your mate to bear pups who’s next in line to be the new Alpha.”

Chanyeol pouts, pursing his lips like a child. “I know.”

The other Alpha sighs. “Let’s go home even for a few minutes. Kyungsoo wants you to come home. Baekhyun, just blessed him with three pups last week.” Hearing that got Chanyeol yipping in excitement, hands clapping enthusiastically. He really loves pups. “Three energetic little pups running around their den. Kyungsoo can’t get them to stay put.”

Chanyeol throws his head back and laughs. “Sounds like Baekhyun when we’re still pups.”

Kris chuckles softly. “Yeah.”

On the other side, Chen woke up groggily, blinking heavy eyes to clear his sight. He unconsciously turns to the side, searching for a certain soft fluff that she wants to cuddle only to sit up on the bed finding the husky gone.

“Chanyeol?” She croaks, clearing and then trying again. “Chanyeol!”

No response. Okay, calm down, Chen. Chanyeol’s not that stupid. Maybe he just fell asleep somewhere downstairs. But even as she tried to assure herself, she found herself feeling unsettled. So with a grunt, she stood up from her bed, slipping in her flops and began to venture down in search for her companion. “Chanyeol? Chanyeol, where are you?”

That’s when she heard it, a growl coming from the kitchen.

Chanyeol’s ears perked up.

“Chanyeol, what’s wrong?” Kyungsoo asked beside him. He was holding his two daughters on both arms. The third one, Yeol, which was named after their pack’s Alpha and his childhood friend, continue to gurgle happily on Chanyeol’s lap. “Alpha?”

Chanyeol frowns. Something was wrong. Very, very wrong.

“I’m sorry, but I need to go.” He gently handed little Yeol back to Baekhyun, who looks equally as confused as her mate. “I need to check on something.”

“Oh, okay.” Baekhyun flashes him a smile. “Well, be safe, alright?”

Chanyeol nods, giving Baekhyun’s hair a soft pat. “I’m taking Kris with me for back up.” Chanyeol hastily stood up. “Kyungsoo…?”

As if knowing what the Alpha wants to say, the beta bows his head in understanding. “I understand, Alpha. I’ll go help Minseok take the watch.”

After meeting the Alpha from the border, they shifted back into their wolf form and ran towards the direction of Chen’s house, with Chanyeol already growling aggressively.

Chen trembles in fear as she scrambles to lock the door.

Something out there was trying to kill her and , she almost got killed.

She thought it was Chanyeol, because the silhouette greatly matches that of a husky. But the moment Chen approached him, the latter, who turns out to be not Chanyeol, jumped in and tried to bite her head off. It was a good thing Chen has quick reflexes and she immediately pushed the rabid dog – or probably wolf out before dashing upstairs.

Chen’s lets out a piercing scream when she felt the door behind her bump.

It was trying to get inside!

And Chanyeol, she felt a pang on her chest. That creature probably finished him off first. The thought of her husky getting ravished got her feeling drained. But she wanted to think that Chanyeol ran away for dear life instead of getting killed. That way she can still ensure that the husky was still alive.

The growls were getting louder that Chen had to get away to the door or else chances of getting slashed by the wolf will be a hundred percent. Her breathing turns ragged, body shaking, trembling in fear. As she watched the door getting broken, getting pushed and pushed by a force so big, Chen can’t help but think that maybe this is the end of her life. Now that she thought about it, it ing that she’ll die single.

But then the growls stopped and was replaced by a whimper and a loud crash.

Chen dropped down on the ground.

Chanyeol wipes his jaw at the sight of the fallen rival pack’s wolf. Shifting back to his human form, he growls down at the whimpering wolf. “How dare you touch my human?”

The wolf shifts to its human form, his leg covered in bruises from Yifan’s harsh bites and his stomach bleeding from Chanyeol’s claw. “I-I’m sorry…” He wheezes. “B-But A-Alpha ordered me to… to distract you… so that they can…” Then the wolf passed out.

Yifan’s eyes went wide and so does Chanyeol’s when they heard Kyungsoo’s howl of distress.

“,” Yifan cursed under his breath. “They attacked the clearing. The pups might be in danger, Alpha. What should we do? Minseok can’t handle it alone and so does Kyungsoo…” Chanyeol looks so lost that Yifan has to bark out at him. “Chanyeol, snap out of it!” When Chanyeol didn’t respond, Yifan followed the head Alpha’s line of sight only to mirror the latter’s expression when he caught sight of Chanyeol’s human looking at them with wide eyes.

“C-Chanyeol?” Chen looks at them in disbelief. “Are you Chanyeol?”

“Chen… Chen, I can explain. Please, I –“

“Chanyeol, there’s no time.” Yifan growls. “The pack’s in danger.”

Chanyeol tore his gaze away from the human. “Y-You’re right.” And with one last glance to her, he shifts back to his wolf form and ran out of the house, following Yifan’s lead. The sight got her to snap back in reality that Chen immediately ran towards the porch, shouting Chanyeol’s name.

Chanyeol didn’t come back since then.

The wolf that Chen nursed back to health, despite its previous motive to kill her, bowed his head in gratefulness before leaving. “I’m sorry for what happened.” He said. “I didn’t mean to, but I have to follow my pack’s leader or else he’ll kill my family.”

“Ah, I see.” Chen slowly nods. “That can’t be helped.”

“I-I need to see if they’re all right, my family that is.” He stutters. “I’m sorry again for my over stay here a-and thank you.”

“Don’t be.” Chen waves him in dismissal. “But please, tell me your name.”

The man, or rather, wolf looks at him before opening his mouth and answers, “Joonmyun.” He smiles. “I-It’s Joonmyun.”

“Then Joonmyun…” The man looks at him with both brows raised. “Can you please find Chanyeol for me?” Chen felt the growing lump on at the mention of her dog – or rather, wolf. “I just wanted to know if he’s okay.”

Joonmyun nods. “Okay.”

Joonmyun came back after three months and told Chen that Chanyeol had relocated somewhere far now and that he doesn’t know where he is much to Chen’s dismay. Though, it was a good thing that Chanyeol was still alive and well that got a bit of weight lift off her chest. Joonmyun, however, doesn’t stay long because his family was now part of a new pack and they need to relocate somewhere safe for the pack’s young ones, his pups included.

It was weird and bizarre and yet, Chen can’t help but miss Chanyeol. She was too used on her companion that she can’t help but shed a few tears here and there. Chanyeol was the only family she had left, after all. And now that he’s gone, it was back to her being back on her lonely self.

“How about you go and get yourself a new dog.” Luhan said while retouching her lipstick. “It’s not your fault that Chanyeol ran away.” Chen huffs in response, her mood not lifting up. Luhan sighs. “Hey, come on. The least you can do is cheer me up. I’ve got a date tonight, see?”

Chen lifts her head. “A date? Who?”

“Someone named Kris.” Luhan beams and lets out a dreamy sigh. “He’s Chinese, actually, and he just moved here along with his friends. I’m meeting him tonight at that Italian restaurant past KFC.”

“Ah, that’s good.” Chen waves in dismissal. “Go and have fun.”

Luhan pursed her lips and pouts. “Boo. You’re no fun.”

Before Luhan could point out her gloom, the door to the faculty slides open. Mr. Sooman, the principal strides inside with a happy smile on his face. “Ah, good afternoon. I’m here to announce that there’s going to be a new Math teacher.” He turns his head to the side and gestures for the new teacher to come in. “Come in, Mr. Park.”

Chen doesn’t really care about who this person is, but she did a double take at the sight of someone familiar to her. A face that she hasn’t seen for over a year and only saw once in her life. The man flashes them a wide smile and then bows. “Hello. My name is Park Chanyeol and I will be the new Math teacher here in SM academy. Please take care of me.”

“Oh my god, he’s so hot.” Luhan whispers beside her as she fans her face with her hand. It also appears that Luhan’s not the only one who thinks that the new teacher is hot judging by the amount of squeals from the other female staffs.

To the surprise of everyone, Chanyeol approaches Chen and then stops and looks down on her slump and surprised form, his blue eyes staring down at her that got her breath to hitch and heart skip. Chen opens to say something or anything but Chanyeol beats him to it with a hearty laugh.

“Long time no see, mate.”
