Nothing really good happens in 2:00 am.

Xiumin woke up groggily, feeling light-headed. Contradicting that, however, her body feels like it weighs a ton that she immediately huffed out a groan when her jelly arms can’t even lift herself up from the bed. She woke up inside her assigned hotel room, thank God. But her tendency to get drunk easily is something she really despises (a trait that she apparently inherited from her father.)

Thinking back, what happened last night, anyway? All she remembers is Donghae asking her to go clubbing with her alongside with the latter’s boyfriend, Eunhyuk, who apparently can’t keep his hands off the petite lady. Xiumin agreed, unfortunately, with a resolve not to drink alcohol which she ended up doing in the end, thus, this happened.

But what really got her worried is what happened during her drunk moments. Xiumin shuddered and groans rolling around. Her tendency to do crazy things is level 9999 when it comes to that much to her dismay and utter embarrassment.

Xiumin sighs.

Well, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

“So what made you go and get home early, eh Xiu?”

Xiumin groans and leans her back against the leather seat, looking at the tall buildings and cars that passes by them hurriedly. “Vegas only gave me a lot of stress, oppa. I swear it will be the death of me if I stayed another day in that place.” Hearing that made Minseok laugh. Xiumin sighs. “Anyways, how’s mom and dad?”

“Oh, them? Uh…” The elder was slightly distracted due to wanting to get in front so that he could see the traffic light clearly. “I vaguely remembered mom telling me over the phone about Italy. Maybe they’re scouting the place for another restaurant branch, I don’t know.”

Xiumin blew a raspberry. “Lucky them.”

Minseok grins and steps on the gas once the light turned grin. “Aren’t you going to ask about what the hyungs’ been up to lately?”

Xiumin scrunches her nose at the thought of their three older brothers and shakes her head. “No. Not interested. The last thing I want to do is know what they’re up to.” Not that she doesn’t care. It’s just that she’s so jealous of them having a goal in life to pursue unlike her who still looks at her future with a big question mark.

Even their youngest, Joonie, is currently winning every science fair in his school because he wants to be a chemist.

“Yah, oppa.”

“Hmm?”

“What made you decide that you wanted to be a bartender?” She asked quietly. “You know that time, mom doesn’t approve of you wanting to drop out of college but even then, what made you decide?”

Minseok hums for a moment. “Well, I just realized that there’s no point in studying because that’s not what I really want to do. You know, pursue engineering, I mean. Sure, like mom said it’s a waste, but that’s the thing, Xiu. I don’t want to waste my life doing that. I want to do something that I want.”

It was really waste, to be honest. Because her older twin was a very intelligent man. If she consider her dad intelligent, well, Minseok was twice as his. The only downside in her older twin’s life is that his love life is kind of similar to their mom.

“Hey, hey, hey, I know that look. Quit it.” Minseok glares at his twin. “If you’re thinking about my recent break-up then stop. She’s not worth it. I deserve better, I know it. And mind you, I will not stop until I find the one, you hear me?”

Xiumin just laughs. “Yeah, yeah.”

“Hey, if ever you want to come home, tell me so that we can go together, okay?” Minseok smiles and waves before driving off. Xiumin waves back just until his twin’s car disappear from the turn. She sighs and looks up at her apartment building before going inside.

Living alone is a tough job, not really used to a life like this. But everyone as it seems, is used to it.

The eldest is in Los Angeles pursuing an acting career and at the same time, managing the restaurant that their dad opened there for additional income. The second is a professional dancer in some musical and concerts around the world. The third is living back at home with the youngest, working in an accounting firm while taking up a degree in law. Minseok is currently managing his own bar somewhere around downtown. The youngest, Joonie, is still in high school but despite that, the boy is an over-achiever.

It would be embarrassing if she’s compared to her brothers. Each of them has ambitions, life goals that they pursue while some currently living it. She doesn’t want to be dependent anymore. She wants her own goal. A path that she wants to take someday and live with it.

Xiumin looks around her mediocre flat and sighs. It would be embarrassing if one day, her brothers would come and gather around here. She doesn’t know if having a marketing degree is the right path for her because the only that’s in her mind around that time is that it will ensure her on having a good and stable job.

Good and stable job, my . The pay’s so low it mostly covers the bills and nothing else.

After answering an overseas call from her mother, Xiumin flopped down the bed and closes her eyes, blocking the loud screeching noise of the cars and the construction that’s going on from a block away. She wishes for a turning point. A big change that will completely turn her life around. Whatever it is, she wishes it would come soon.

Around 2:00 in the morning, Xiumin was awoken by a sound of the doorbell ringing – ringing every five seconds along with the sound of men chattering outside the flat. It was so early for the landlord to come for the bills. Plus, she already paid last week. So what’s with all the ruckus?

Dragging herself towards the front door, she turns the knob slowly and faces five men, who whirled their head around to look at her. “What the is the big idea? Can’t you see people are trying to sleep around here? Goddamit, I still have to go to work at seven.”

“Oh, we’re terribly sorry. But you see, we have this current predicament that –“

“Oh shut up, Kyungsoo. She’s not the only one who’s got their beauty sleep disturbed, mind you.”

“Baekhyun, if you’re just here to whine about your face, then go home.”

“Why you ing giant, I ought to –“

“Guys, we didn’t come here just to fight.”

“Luhan’s right. Why not get this over with?” The tanned male took a step forward and leaned his arm against the doorframe. With a seductive wink, he purrs. “Hey, love. Sorry to ruin your beauty sleep, not that you need one to be beautiful because you already are.” The wide-eyed male nudged him on the ribs making him wince. “Anyways, we’re here to point out one thing.”

Xiumin squints her eyes at them. “And what’s that?”

“You’re married to me, love. And apparently, you are also married to those four men behind me.”

Wait, what?

Author’s note: this is somewhat kind of a spin-off to three little monsters, but I figured hiding kyungsoo’s identity here as just Dad and baekhyun as Mom. Some of the characters might appear as well, but only the ones who are relevant in this story because we will now focus on xiumin’s life.

Repetitive names such as kyungsoo, baekhyun, luhan and chanyeol etc. are completely different people from the three little monsters universe.
