For the first time in the history of all first times, Kyungsoo found himself standing in the middle of the crowded airport, wearing khakis and that loose shirt he remembers Baekhyun despises seeing. For the first time, Kyungsoo is travelling by himself – not with some friends, or with his cheater of an ex-fiancé and with his family.

Just by himself.

Realizing this, he suddenly felt small.

Why does he have to be so stupid? Kyungsoo mentally berates himself. Maybe he should just get married after all. Maybe he should have just shut his ing mouth and get hitched with Baekhyun and maybe, he won’t be in this predicament. Kyungsoo clamps his eyes shut and groans. He blames his parents for this. He blames them for easily taking out the barricades in his life that got him depending on them even when he’s all grown up.

His eyes went wide, then all of the sudden, he slaps his cheeks hard.

What the hell was he even thinking? Why would he even regret what he did yesterday? He knows whatever he did was ed up, but that was honestly the best thing that ever happened in his life!

Betrayal hurts like a , especially if two of your most trusted people caused this. But who the needs them, anyway? Chanyeol is a bar-hopping, giant oaf who likes to think with his , and Baekhyun is a controlling, naggy woman who always reprimands and corrects everything that he ever does. Kyungsoo frowns.

So she’s the sole reason why his self-esteem hits rock bottom.

Kyungsoo shrugs. They’re better suited to each other anyway. Let their life run in chaos.

After finding an area to rest, he finally opens his phone and was surprised to find multiple messages, voice mails and missed call. That all doesn’t matter to him so he deleted them and called Minseok. He closes his eyes and groans when it didn’t come through. “Oh, come on.”

“Come on, come on, come on, I need some ing help here.”

“Hey, excuse me. About the –“

Kyungsoo stopped midway, eyes wide in shock and surprise when he saw the person standing in front of him. A duffel bag was slung in her shoulder and blond wavy locks swept to the side, Kyungsoo could not believe what he was seeing.

“Luhan-noona.”

Luhan’s eyes went wide. “Kyungsoo!”

Of all the people he could come across, it just have to be his brother’s ex-girlfriend.

“This is really a big surprise.” Luhan smiles at him. “Seeing you here.”

Kyungsoo nods with a smile.

Despite it being a rough and ugly break up between his big brother and Luhan, Kyungsoo secretly keeps contact with the elder female. At first, he wasn’t that keen, but then Luhan just found a way in his heart – something of a big sister he never had – and does her a favor by keeping her informed about his big brother’s life.

“The last time we talked face to face was when Minseok got divorced with Chen.” That was six years ago. “How… how is little Jongdae, anyway?”

“He’s staying with her mom.” Kyungsoo said. “Hyung seeks joint custody so the kid’s probably coming back home with him around summer.”

“I see.”

There was a long moment of silence in their part. Kyungsoo clears his throat and finishes his cup of coffee before continuing. “You know, it’s never too late to come back. I can tell how much you still want him.” He sees Luhan stiffen at this. “Hyung’s been through a lot and I think it would be great if –“

“I understand.” Luhan whispers. “But I don’t think he wants to see me after everything that happened between us.”

Kyungsoo takes note of the heavy atmosphere so he clears his throat once again and looks around, tapping his fingers on the table for a moment. “So,” He looks at Luhan with a smile. “What brings you here in Cremona?”

“Ah,” Luhan visibly sighs in relief at the sudden change of topic. “Actually, I just got here from Greece.” She smiles. “I’ve been seeing places – a lot of places and everything, every view got me falling in love with the country. And when I heard some guy playing at a show turned out to be from Cremona, I decided to come here.” She smiles. “I swear, the guy has some massive violin skills.”

“Amazing.” Kyungsoo grins.

Luhan’s love of travelling and Minseok’s love of settling down was the reason for their break up. In the end, they just couldn’t see things from eye to eye.

“What about you?” Luhan tilts her head. “What brings you here?”

“Right. Err…” Kyungsoo slumps back on his chair. “Spending my honeymoon on my own, of course.”

“Honeymoon, wait…” Luhan furrowed her brows. “Right, I remember.” She snaps her fingers. “That – that girl you were dating, what was her name?”

“Baekhyun.”

Luhan snaps her finger again. “Right, Baekhyun!”

“It wasn’t working.” Kyungsoo bitterly smiles. “Well, I thought it was. But then hyung showed me a photo of her and Chanyeol so…” He gestures to himself. “Here I am.”

“Oh,” Luhan reaches out to touch the back of his hand. “I’m sorry.”

Maybe they weren’t really lucky when it comes to love, Kyungsoo thought. His mother got married to Minseok’s father, which is her first husband, but then the latter died at a car accident when Minseok was just five. 3 years after that, she met Kyungsoo’s father, which explains the difference between their surnames. Then there’s Minseok, who got divorced and then there’s him, who didn’t even last up until the wedding day.

Maybe it’s his fate to be like this.

“Hey, being single ain’t that bad, you know.” Luhan giggles.

“Right and I supposed to look at your example then?”

Kyungsoo meant that to be a playful one but then, Luhan’s expression fell and Kyungsoo thinks that maybe he should control what he’s saying because right now, Luhan looks like she just kicked out of a curb. Kyungsoo cleared his throat. “My bad, I wasn’t –“

“Nah, it’s okay.” Luhan waves a hand in dismissal. “It’s not a big deal.” She sighs. “Some things aren’t… made to work sometimes. Maybe… it has other plans for the both of us, you know.”

Kyungsoo slowly nods.

Just when Luhan was about to speak again, her phone beeped making the both of them startle. Checking on the message, Luhan’s expression morphed into a look of excitement. “Actually, I’m here to meet a travelling buddy. Wanna come with?”

Kyungsoo followed Luhan like a lost puppy, trailing behind her as she walk her way towards the sea of people. It was really frightening considering that Kyungsoo isn’t a fan of travelling, but since he’s already here and he looks stupid alone, he accepts.

And maybe – just maybe, he thinks that he made the right decision. Because standing there with a duffel bag on her back was a woman that caught his eyes the moment he focused on her.

It wasn’t that hard to miss. How cute she looks with her lips pursed and her long straight black hair hiding a fraction of her face as she stares down on her phone. Kyungsoo’s breath hitched and mentally clapped himself from the back for finding himself a pretty woman to associate with. After all, Kyungsoo is just as desperate to keep his mind away from Baekhyun.

“Kai!” Luhan shouts and waves her arm. “Kai, hey!”

Said girl looks up then turns her head to look at their direction.

Kyungsoo suddenly feels small.

Oh, okay.

Clearly, cute is definitely an understatement.

Kai beams the moment she locked eyes with Luhan and immediately ran up to envelop Luhan in a tight embrace. The two of them laughed, their eyes crinkling in delight, before pulling away, laughing still. “Oh my god, how are you?! I haven’t seen you since we went to Sweden!”

“Ah, that was a year ago.” Luhan giggles. “Sweden. Remembering the times we had there was the best.”

“Good times.” Kai sighs. Then her eyebrows shot up when she looks past the elder and locked eyes with Kyungsoo.

Oh god.

“And who’s this?” She pushes past Luhan and looks at him with a tilt of her head, a small smirk plastered on her face. “Boyfriend?”

“Oh, no.” Luhan shakes her head and envelops Kyungsoo in a head lock. Kyungsoo makes a strangled sound and looks down, trying not to do something – anything remotely stupid that might damage his first impression. After all, first impressions are very, very important. “He’s actually my ex’s brother.”

“Ex?” Then Kai’s eyes went wide in realization. “Oh, him.”

“Right.” Luhan slowly nods. “Yeah, but we’re totally cool.”

“Oh, I see.”

Kyungsoo can practically feel Kai’s eyes on him. He gulps hard.

“So what is he like your new recruit or something?” Kai hums. “Because if he is, I wouldn’t mind. When was the last time we got a guy coming along in our trip? That was two years ago, if I’m not mistaken.”

Luhan looks at Kyungsoo then frowns at Kai. “Right. But no messing around with this one. Got it?”

Kai shrugs.

Kyungsoo gasps when Luhan suddenly lets go of him. “So what about it kid? Do you want to explore Italy with us?”

It was only then that Kyungsoo looks up to meet Kai’s eyes – her black orbs that really matches the way she looks – the kind of look that makes the word y rose on another level. He doesn’t really mind joining them. After all, what will he do in Cremona all by himself anyway? He doesn’t want to come here in the first place. Cremona was what Baekhyun wants to go not him. And because he was a er for her, he agreed on Cremona than Japan.

“O-Okay.”

Kai breaks into a grin. “Great!” She grabs his arm and wraps herself around it, with Kyungsoo blushing hard at the feeling of his arm pressing against her . “Now, let’s go and find a hotel where we’re comfortable at. I’m tired and I have a bad case of jetlag.”

As Kyungsoo was dragged away by the younger, Luhan can only sigh and follows them.
