“Do you know that you are really red, right now?”

After paying a visit to Haeri’s father on the hospital, Kai decided to ditch his car for a wonderful night walk back to their home. The hospital was placed near Han River, that way they were able to go back to their fortress while passing the beautiful night view of the mighty river. Luckily, it was not too packed even if they could find a lot of other couples—some of them were famous idols—were enjoying a date as well.

Kai and Haeri walked side by side on the pedestrian pathway, a soft smile embelishing both of their face. There was no way the moments could get any better. Gathering his courage, Kai naturally scooped Haeri’s cold, petite fingers inside his own and slipped his fingers on the space between hers. Haeri couldn’t bare to chuckle as the warmth travelled to every inch of her body.

“Are you cold?” Kai asked, and Haeri shook her head, looking back to their intertwined fingers. Could she be any more thankful? It was scary to think about how happy she was. She was unused to feel this blithesome.

“You know, this,” She pointed to their fingers which securely tighten up together. Kai followed her sight. “Is scary.”

“Scary?”

“Yeah. It’s scary how happy we are together right now. It made me scared for days to come.”

Kai halt his step, and held Haeri’s both hand close to his side. For some unknown reasons, looking to each other’s eyes were more than convinient. It was where they belong. Next to each other.

“Don’t worry about the future. What matters is that now. We are together, I love you, you love me and that’s more than enough.”

It’s true. By then, Kai couldn’t get anymore thankful that he had Haeri by his side, knowing that she felt the same way as he do. Even though problems would and will get on their ways, he would never regret them. Problems may be hard to face, but it brought them to what they are now, injecting strength to his relationship with Haeri. Problems made them realize how precious they are to each other.

“I love you.” Kai whispered affectionately, pulling her wrist until she fell into his arm, their lips slowly enveloping each other’s, savouring each and every second they had with each other. Even though Kai really wanted to take the kiss one step deeper, he realized that they were still in public places and unwillingly release the kiss.

“You sure like kissing me, don’t you?” Haeri teased after they get back to their feet to walk. “After I initiate that one kiss you seem to be doing it alot.”

“Meh. This was just a beginning. You’ll see what I truly am soon.” Kai grimaced, wriggling his eyebrows playfully while advancing his face closer towards his wife. She chuckled, pushing his face with the palm of her hands.

The next morning, Kai and Haeri were on their way to the school. Not really favoring the silence, Haeri opened a light conversation while Kai was driving.

“Do we get to spend lunch together today?”

“I don’t think so. I think I need to see some of the professor to ask their letter of approval for the business school. Since it will be due quite early, I think I have to finish some of them on break period.”

Kai turned his sight to the unfazed Haeri. It seemed like he had something on his mind that he was hesitating to say, and Haeri could easily detect the restlessness in his gesture.

“Do you have anything to say?”

“Can you please not be mad? Please? Don’t overthink it.” Kai pleaded, while occasionally looking back to Haeri and the road infront of him. “Please don’t get anything the wrong way.”

“You know that you’re doing this really interpret something wrong. I can’t promise you, but I’ll try.” Haeri tried to convince him. She wasn’t going to sugarcoat anything and make false promise. Since the day they fought, she had decided to be upfront with Kai. It’s what best for both of them.

“Actually, I’m teaming up with Yura in getting this letter of acceptance.” Kai confessed. Haeri looked up to him, feeling a little bit uneasy about the new character of their topic.

“You know that I’m not a good nor favored student, to frankly say it. Yura had offered a great help for getting the letter of acceptance and as she will be attending the same school. Before anything, I can assure you that it will only goes that way. No more, no less.”

Even though Kai had been honest about the matter, Haeri couldn’t help but to feel a little bit anxious. How could she be sure that Yura was thinking the same way? For God knows she had million tricks hidden on her sleeve.

“Haeri. Please trust me this once, okay? I know my border and I swear I won’t cross it.”

Haeri nodded, fiddling her fingers against each other. She believe in Kai. She should believe in Kai! Kai had loved her with all of his heart and stay beside her when even she didn’t love herself. When she was acting a brat. She shouldn’t be doubting him, at all.

“But now that you are jealous, I feel really, really good.” Kai grinned with a foolish smile lingering in his face. Haeri rolled her eyes in disbelieve, not bothered to continue the conversation.

“Let’s grab something to eat after school. Okay? I’ll wait beside your locker.” Kai offered while parking the car. Haeri nodded with a thin smile, pushing her doubt and worry aside.

Haeri refused to go out of her class even on break period. Even though she wanted to see how Kai’s doing with Yura, she didn’t want to be that insecure and obsessive. She must believe in Kai as Kai believe in her. He fought for you, for God sake! Haeri cried on her head, trying to calm her nerves.

Time went slow, but it finally came to the end of the class for today. Haeri packed her belonging then walked out of her class. Remembering the lunch Kai had promised earlier today, she walked to her locker as where he said he would be.

By the end of the hall, she could see that he was already leaning on the locker, while occasionally looking back to the watch on his left wrist. Force of habit, he would sometime blow the fringe on his forehead, or tapping on the floor with the edge of his shoes. Haeri smile in content, then swinging to his side.

“Hey.”

“Hey.”

“Should we go now?” Kai moved his spot so Haeri could store her book on her locker. After finishing it with a soft thump, she nodded. Kai offered a hand for her to hold, which she gladly received. Of course, many of people somehow paid an attention on their intertwined hands.

On the end of the hall, Haeri and Kai heard someone was calling her name from behind, halting their steps. She turned her back, unintentionally unintertwining their clasped hands. Kai had profusely tried to ignore the emptiness on his hand.

Not only that, it turned out that it was Baekhyun’s call.

After he arrived on their side, he quickly splurted between his caught up breath. “Glad you haven’t gone yet.”

“Our literature professor had asked us to see her.” Baekhyun shortly said, giving Kai a curt nod as a recognition. “It’s maybe about the audition.”

“Really?! Okay.” She turned to face Kai, giving him a persuading face—full of aegyo. “Kai, you should go back first. I think this is going to take long.”
