No Goodbye

Sehun clasped his fingers altogether, occasionally stealing glances to the front door where the invitee started to take their respective seats. It was Kai’s brother’s wedding, and he was sitting in the middle seat with Kyungsoo, Suho and Chanyeol while Baekhyun had an urgent business matter with his parents and would join them soon.

Why was he nervous? Well, because what he just witnessed was too overwhelming too even speak about.

Fragment of scene started to invade his mind once again.

Sehun made his way to the back side of the hall—where the bride and groom waiting room was placed— as he wanted a talk with the bridesmaid, Haeri. As he thought that Haeri—as the bridesmaid—would be in the bride’s waiting room, he almost knocked on the appointed door when he realized the door wasn’t even closed properly.

Curiousity surely killed the cat, as Sehun carefully slided the door to see what was going on inside.

“What do you want? Tell me straight.”

It’s Kai! Sehun gasped inside his head. Even when Kai was backing him, Sehun could easily  that it was Kai. What was Kai doing in a bride’s waiting room?

Well, he did know that something was going between Kai and Soojung, the bride, but never had he thought that it wasn’t over yet. Kai seemed to be really in love with Haeri and it was taken as a big shock by Sehun if something was still going on between them.

“I’ll go.”

Kai quickly stood up from his sitting pose, and due to surprise, Sehun jumped on his toes for Kai could have sense his presence. He would rather not go further on the ugly things Kai would do if he find out that he was eavesdropping on his business.

“Sehun!”

Sehun swiftly turned his head to find that Haeri was walking towards him with a bucket of french purple lilacs. The beutiful fragrance quickly filled his sense. Danger still fulfilling his mind, he took quick steps towards the girl in a beatiful dark purple short dress, intending to diverse her intention to anywhere but the bride’s waiting room. That time, he would put his trust on Kai, as all of it could be just a mere coincidence between he and Soojung. But nothing would stop him from hunting Kai if he were to hurt Haeri, Sehun would make sure of that.

“What are you doing there? I thought I see you eavesdropping.” Haeri said with a clear confusion. Sehun quickly pulled Haeri to walk further from the place.

“No way! Why would I be eavesdropping? Hehe.” Sehun cursed himself for the foot level acting. He was anxious, as one missed step would lead to a huge disaster between Haeri and Kai, not to dismiss the fact that they were on Soojung’s wedding. So much morning drama in this ing place, Sehun cried inside his head. He regret the reason he got into the mess in the first place.

“Where are we going? I have to deliver this bucket to the bride’s waiting room.” Haeri protested, trying to get out of Sehun’s grasp on her wrist. But Sehun instinctively pulled her closer, not wanting to let her go.

“No!” Damn, too quick! Haeri’s puzzled face was the answer for Sehun’s weird attitude. “Someone called you, Haeri-ya! Your father? Yes, your father!”

Bless his witted mind.

But it was too soon to be thankful, because before she could even answer, a scream was heard from the bride’s waiting room, stopping any of their movements.

“YOU ARE THE ONE THAT SHOULDN’T BE DOING THIS!”

“What is that?” Haeri was shocked from the loud commotion inside the room she was supposed to go to. By the change of Sehun’s face, she finally detect something strange was going on. Sehun was keeping something away from her. “I am going inside.” Haeri easily get out of Sehun’s hand as it was already let loose.

“Haeri, please!” Sehun begged for his life and pulled Haeri inside his arms. One thing he knew that nothing would be able to make Haeri avoid that darned room. So, he would do the last thing a friend should do. Not Kai’s. Hers. Sehun wished he could spare her the pain, even though he knew he could not.

Sehun didn't want them to fight. He seriously a keen believer of Haeri and Kai's unspoken love. No matter how much everyone guessed that they got together purely of business matter, he knew that something had changed. How could this happen to both of them, when they just had started to accept their own feeling towards each other?

“Whatever going on, please believe that everything happens for a reason. Don’t rush into a conclusion, and search for what you really feels, okay?” Sehun whispered, but Haeri immediately pushed him away even before saying anything.

Haeri did the exact thing he did before. She slowly slided the room, taking a view inside, before closing it with a deep sigh. Sehun leant his head before the door, taking some time to ready himself to experience Haeri’s outburst. But contrasted with his expectation, Haeri’s face showed nothing. It was flat with no emotion whatsoever.

Haeri slowly took steps towards Sehun. “Can you please deliver this bucket? I am going to call the make-up eonnis.” Haeri whispered with no emotion while offering him the lilac bucket. Sehun was bewildered. How could Haeri act that composed? She should be bombarding the place with a shotgon, for God sake! Her response were unhealthy, and Sehun couldn’t bear the sight of it.

"Haeri—"

“Take it, Sehun.” Haeri pleaded once again, cutting his words. Hesitatingly, Sehun received the bucket before Haeri left him with no other words.

Sehun quickly hid himself behind the door and waited until Kai walked out of the room with a redden face and rushed step. As he left the scene, Sehun soundlessly get inside the waiting room, resting the bucket of lilac on the table beside the door without looking elsewhere before walking out, back to his seat.

Kai stood on Luhan’s side of family, waiting for the bride to come marching in. After the incident with Soojung, luckily things were handled properly—such as her ruined make-up—due to the quick help of the make-up coordinator. Even though the wedding was started not exactly as the estimated time, everything went the way it supposed to go.

Luhan smiled while fixing his tie with obvious anxiety. It was clear to him that something wrong was going on with the bride, that the wedding was pushed for a few minutes. Luckily nothing happened that he need to worry about, or so he thought.

As the smooth sound of the orchestra playing the wedding march, the invitee stood on their spot to welcome the bride. One by one the braidesmaid walked in before finally Haeri was seen, walking gracefully on the carpet with a bucket of flower on her grasp. A warm smile inevitably made its way to Kai’s lips. Haeri really looke
