Chapter Thirty-Three

Can't Be Tamed

The next work day went well for SungYeol as now he had more energy and could perform more without restraining himself so as a result he got less yelled at than earlier days.

SungYeol came home after his second job, taking a long shower to wash his worries away of that day. He just got out the shower and was pulling his clothes on when the doorbell rang. SungYeol’s heart skipped a beat, knowing that MyungSoo was there and he ran fast to the buzzer to open the front-door, waiting for said guy to appear.

The younger came out of the elevator, carrying a lot of bags from the department store; SungYeol didn’t know what to think when he saw all the satchels but he let MyungSoo soundless in, following the younger to the kitchen where the latter started to unpack: meat, vegetables and fruit.

“Did you buy all this?” SungYeol asked bewildered, staring at all the food that was now displayed on the counter and he couldn’t help but to feel like he was being a charity case to MyungSoo.

MyungSoo shook his head while thinking of what he would make today. “DongWoo’s mother did, she forced me to take everything with me, I have no idea what came over her! I think DongWoo must have told her that you didn’t eat...”

SungYeol was immediately alarmed when he heard this. “His mother knows?” He looked afraid around, fearing that any minute the police would come inside and take him back to his own mother.

MyungSoo saw the anxious look on the other’s face and tried to calm the other down, knowing what SungYeol was thinking. “Don’t be afraid, she supports you.”

The taller slowly looked back at him. “Really? You are sure she won’t call my mother and force me to go back home?”

MyungSoo nodded with a soft smile. “She won’t. You’re safe,” he stated.

When the younger started to cook, SungYeol couldn’t help but focus all his attention on MyungSoo and see how the other was in his element while preparing dinner.

“You’ve mentioned before a couple of times that your mother taught you how to cook but how did she do that?” SungYeol looked quizzical and MyungSoo started to laugh, knowing where SungYeol’s question came from; guys having an interest in cooking rarely happened unless they inherited those cooking genes and this was the case by MyungSoo.

“My mother has her own restaurant and after school I always helped her.”  MyungSoo explained.

SungYeol nodded thoughtfully as this was the first time MyungSoo mentioned something about his family and he always wondered why the younger lived alone and didn’t live with his family instead.

“MyungSoo, I have a question for you.”

MyungSoo looked surprised up and nodded. “Anything, what do you want to know?”

The taller smiled softly. “Why did you live alone and not with your parents?”

The younger dropped the knife in surprise, his heart beating fast with those unwanted memories that came back to him, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “My…father threw me out after it turned out I wasn’t the person he wanted me to be,” he whispered softly, being vague about it yet telling the truth.

SungYeol frowned but hearing the unclear reply he knew he shouldn’t ask more, later he would because he wanted to know everything about MyungSoo but for now he changed subject and they started talking about school, SungYeol asking him everything he had missed, MyungSoo gladly answering everything

SungYeol rubbed over his stomach with a big smile, the bulgogi tasted really good, not even his mother could make it that well (maybe he started to be biased towards MyungSoo), the seasoning…it was all perfect.

“So, what are you doing as a job?” MyungSoo put the subject forward he wondered about since he saw it took away all of SungYeol’s energy and now that the older started to open up, he hoped SungYeol would tell because he was worried SungYeol did some kind of job that was dangerous or illegal.

Sighing, SungYeol leaned back in the couch they had exchanged for the table after cleaning and washing everything up.“I’m working, starting early in the morning to take boxes out of trucks and bring them into warehouses and after that’s done I go to my second job at the construction site to help there.”

The younger kind of thought it would be something like that, but it made his heart ache how exhausting that kind of job could be.  “That’s such a heavy workload! You should quit!”

SungYeol shook his head. “I can’t. It’s what earns the most money, believe me I looked around. You lived alone before; you know what comes with it, right?” He asked MyungSoo who looked doubtful as his mother had paid all the rent. If he had to pay all of the expenses…he didn’t know if the money he earned after school would be sufficient to survive.

MyungSoo didn’t know what to answer so he stayed quiet, just looking at SungYeol whose eyelids became heavier and started to close. “You should go to bed, SungYeol.” He said softly.

The older opened tiredly his eyes and nodded. “Yeah, I should.” SungYeol sighed and pushed himself up from the couch. “It was great having you as company MyungSoo and the food was great!  I’ll see you tomorrow?” MyungSoo nodded and watched SungYeol disappear into the bedroom before he got up, gathered all his stuff and left SungYeol’s apartment with a more than satisfying feeling.

-

The next days, MyungSoo made all kind of different foods, each one more than delicious according to SungYeol who raved how awesome MyungSoo was.

-

Friday arrived and both had looked out for this day because SungYeol didn’t have to work on a Saturday and MyungSoo only had to go to work in the evening. At first he didn’t want to go and wanted to stay with SungYeol but he had to make a promise to SungYeol that he would go back and stop worry about SungYeol, the latter promising he would take care of himself from now on – after this weekend it would turn out differently.

MyungSoo came to the apartment with a big smile, SungYeol and him decided to take out today thus MyungSoo went to the best street food place he knew. Tteokbokki, Odeng, Jeon, Dalkggochi, he  brought it all with him and SungYeol stared wide-eyed at all the delicious food after the younger started to place everything on the table.  “What is this, are we inviting people over?”

The younger shook his head with a smile. “Just celebrating the weekend I guess.”

SungYeol laughed, agreeing and sat down next to the younger, accepting the glass of beer MyungSoo poured for him.

“Cheers on the weekend.” MyungSoo clinked his glass with SungYeol who returned the smile, taking a big sip before they started attacking the food...

After all the food was consumed and the bottles of beer empty, SungYeol put a movie on, a horror movie which was MyungSoo’s choice.

“Look how red that blood is it’s so unrealistic!”

SungYeol commented, not wanting to admit he was scared thus started to shout how stupid some characters were to disguise he was actually freaking out, MyungSoo soon joined in when he knew he couldn’t concentrate on the movie with SungYeol’s random shouting so they both made fun of the movie instead.

The closing credits played SungYeol and MyungSoo not paying attention since long to the movie but immersed in their own conversation on what kind of horror movie they liked the best, what made a movie your pants and so on until MyungSoo looked on his watch and cursed. “, I should go home!” He exclaimed and jumped up.

SungYeol who had started to collect the plates and glasses got startled by the sudden announcement. Fear taking over, his mind rapidly thinking of what to say: “I think the last subway already left!” he blurted out fast, knowing it was the truth.

MyungSoo blinked and looked back on his watch. “You’re right.” He bit his lip to think of another solution, coming up with one. “That’s alright, I’ll call DongWoo-hyung and ask if he can pick me up so-”

SungYeol by now was scared out of his wits, looking around for any ghosts that were waiting to come out the second MyungSoo left and devour him or possess him… He really didn’t want to be left alone.

“You can’t-,“ he took a deep breath. “DongWoo is sleeping already, you can’t wake him up. Do you?” MyungSoo had to admit SungYeol was right but still…he didn’t want to walk home, it would take him hours and-

“If you want you can sleep here.”

MyungSoo gaped. “What?”

SungYeol blushed. “You can’t get home so just stay the night.”

MyungSoo felt like this was a repeat of the last day they lost track of time but now it was SungYeol who wanted him to stay and obviously MyungSoo wouldn’t decline. “If you don’t mind…”

The older shook fast his head. “I don’t.”

The younger smiled thankfully before looking around, eyes settling on the couch SungYeol was sitting on. “I’ll sleep on the couch?”

SungYeol looked down at said furniture, furrowing his eyebrows, thinking about that possibility.
“I…don’t have a spare blanket so…bed-” Suddenly a loud bang was heard outside the apartment and SungYeol shrieked, jumping up to get close to MyungSoo.

MyungSoo stared surprised at SungYeol‘s actions but then…made the link. “You’re scared, aren’t you?”  SungYeol’s big, scared eyes told him everything he needed to know yet SungYeol shook fast his head, not wanting to lose all of his dignity. “I’m not!”

The younger started laughing but when he saw how upset SungYeol looked he nodded fast. “Ok, you’re not scared.” SungYeol huffed in annoyance and marched towards the bedroom but when he was almost at the door, he stopped and turned around. “Are you coming or not?” MyungSoo stared in shock at him but then followed the older into the bedroom.  It wasn’t the first time they shared the bed together, more exactly this would be the third time so he tried to control his thoughts.

“MyungSoo, can I ask you something?”

MyungSoo his side as he been staring at the ceiling since he got in bed with SungYeol, trying not to lay too close otherwise he would get into problems, more exactly down his slacks.

The younger tried to sleep but hearing SungYeol moving around every 5 minutes wasn’t easy to do so. “Yes?” He lay on his side and stared at SungYeol’s back, the other not making a move to turn around for some reason.

“Can you do something for me without asking why?” SungYeol asked in a whisper.

MyungSoo nodded surprised.“What?” he responded in a soft whisper.

“You like skinship, I know you do, and you’ll do it anyway during your sleep so it isn’t that big of a deal. But before when we,” SungYeol stopped talking for a bit, MyungSoo moved a little bit closer so he wouldn’t miss anything what the taller was saying.

“When we… slept together you held me and…don’t ask me why, but can you do that again this night?”

MyungSoo had expected weird things but none of that came close to this. SungYeol once again surprised him, something the other turned out to be really good at. The younger tried to control his thoughts, he hoped SungYeol would turn around and face him but at the same time he didn’t know what he would do if they actually looked at each other...

“Y-yeah, s-sure.” MyungSoo took a deep breath, moving closer, eyes on SungYeol’s back. His heart was pounding. He his lips nervously; it was just holding SungYeol yet his heart was making flips with the thought alone of it.

The first night when he had done that it wasn’t intentional (not really) just his sleeping habit he discovered that time but now he was wide awake, in love with SungYeol and he was afraid that every touch would push him to the limit.

He placed his one arm loosely around SungYeol, his body not touching the other, hoping that SungYeol was satisfied by this yet the other’s actions surprised him once again. SungYeol moved his body back until MyungSoo’s body was touching the latter’s back. SungYeol grabbed MyungSoo’s hand to pull it closer around him and placed it on his chest, squeezing MyungSoo’s hand before he let it go, MyungSoo’s heart stopped and he stared wide-eyed to SungYeol’s back, swallowing the feelings away.

“Thanks, Soo.” SungYeol mumbled and closed his eyes, now feeling safer but also another feeling started to overpower him. He had asked this slightly weird thing because the horror movie was still buzzing around his head and he was afraid ghosts or demons would come out of the wall to eat him but when MyungSoo had placed his arm loosely around him he hadn’t been satisfied by it thus he had grabbed MyungSoo’s arm to pull the other closer towards him, blushing like mad, good thing MyungSoo couldn’t see that.

They lay in silence, both trying to deal with their feelings until MyungSoo decided to speak. “Why did you empty your whole savings account? What did you do?” SungYeol cringed when the conversation between his mother and him came back to his mind. The reason why he had ran away and now MyungSoo was asking this… he decided to be honest with the younger.

“I bought this place with intention to do it for you.”
