Because You Might Grow Distant
Taeyeon's POV
I woke when the sound of my alarm clock entered my dream. I stretched my arms and did a little yawn before walking to my bathroom.
When I finished doing my morning activity I went the kitchen.
Hm. Weird, mom isn't here.
"Mom!" I shouted.
After a few shout, I gave up. I found a note on our refrigerator.
Taengoo,
Eat your breakfast before going to work, Arasso?
Umma will be back later.
So my mom left. After eating breakfast I went to my work.
"Good morning." I greeted.
"Oh Taeng. Manager said you'll be working as crew today."
"Oh really?" I responded. While putting my things on the mini-locker. "I'm off counter today huh?" I chuckled.
"Yeah."
I started working as a crew. Walking there, walking here. Wiping table, serving customer etc. etc.
"Taeng! Number 34!" One of my co-worker shouted.
I took the tray and served it. "Here you go ma'am–"
"Taeng?" Since I didn't notice who the girl was, I put down the tray quickly.
"Jiyeon-ah!" I greeted, almost shouting.
"I didn't know you work."
I chuckled. "Well, you do now. I'll talk to you later."
She nodded and smiled. I smiled back before leaving.
Walking around the store isn't easy. It's tiring! I was so busy doing my work that I totally forgot about Jiyeon.
Right when my break started, I searched for her. But to my dismay she's no where to be found.
I sighed and leaned my back against the chair.
Then my phone rang, unexpectedly.
"Hello?" I said to the other line.
"Taeng!" An excited girl greeted back. Making me flinch due to her loud voice.
"Keep it down Tiffany."
"Oops. Sorry. Uhh, anyway is your shift over?"
"Not yet. I'm on my break. Why?"
She paused for asecond. "Uh nothing. I'll call you later. Bye."
She hanged up and I was left questioning myself why'd she called.
I shrugged it off and continued on my break.
My shift ended. And as always, I walk around the street.
I went to the park and there I was a familiar figure again.
Why is she here?
I slowly walk closer to her.
I tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey." I spoke with a deep voice. Not my usual voice.
"Oh Taeng." She smiled.
"Why do I always find you here. Alone."
She giggled turning her eyes in to a crescent shape.
"Siwon said he'll be in a trip with his dad."
Then there, a chance to steal Tiffany for a day. A chance that god gave for me, I guess.
"Oh." Is all I could say. I took my eyes off her and looked up.
"Thank god your shift ended." She spoke.
I left my thoughts as soon as I heard her voice.
"Oh. Yeah, it's a tiring day today. A lot of customers were coming."
She nodded and I smiled, a small one. Which I consider a half frown.
She's bored, I can sense it.
"I saw Minwoo today."
Minwoo? Out of the blue she mentioned Minwoo.
Well, atleast she doesn't sound bored or something like she lost her fortune.
"What about him?" I asked.
"Are you sure he's just your friend?" She asked with a bit of chuckle.
"Yeah, why?"
"I thought he was you."
"Really?"
"Yeah, you two look so alike. Like twins! Maybe you're adopted."
My jaw dropped. Making a funny face. She was laughing at her own joke.
Well I'm not that shock or something. Been hearing this kind of stuff.
"That's nonsense. I mean, we don't look much like each other."
She took her phone out and searched for something.
"Here look!" She said, putting her phone in front of my face.
And there I saw me and Minwoo eating. "Where'd you get this?" I asked.
"I took it when you and Minwoo were having breakfast. I found it cute so I took it."
I gave her phone back. I rolled my eyes.
"You two look really cute here. You look cute here."
Heart beats fast.
Hope swallowed my wall of defense, my wall of tempting my feelings for her.
In just one compliment that I always hear from her makes me wanna jump on a building.
"I hate cute. You know that." I pouted unconsciously.
Out of my free will I pouted.
She giggled. "See, you're cute without even trying." She pinched my cheek.
I was madly blushing and I so want to hide my face, but with her pinching it, all I could do is drop my head low.
"Aww, Shy Taeng?" She teased. Heck I know she knows that I hate being teased.
"Stop." I said softly.
"You're blushing and that's cute." She teased even more. "You hate cute but you're doing it. Aigoo, such a cute kid." And then she teased again.
"I said stop." I whined and I know I sound like a kid. I stood up and walked away from her.
I walk and walk until I can see the door of my house.
She didn't follow.
I sighed.
I'm not expecting her to follow, I mean I know I'm being a kid. I'm sensitive okay.
But yeah, she didn't follow me. So who cares.
I stood in front of my house. Looking for my keys inside my bag.
"Where the heck is that.." I whispered. "Aha! There you are."
I inserted the key and turned it. Making the clicking sound, I widely opened the door.
"Yah! Kim Taeyeon!" I heard someone shouted from outside. My door was half closed so I opened it widely again.
In a second Tiffany was now standing in front of me. She barged in and launched herself in the couch.
"I was looking for you." She said.
"You don't have to." I said coldly. Trying to send her a message that I'm freaking mad.
I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. I turned around.
I was shocked to see her in front of me when I know she's in the living room. So instead if drinking the water I ended up spitting it out in the sink.
"What the- Heck- How-! Are you trying to kill me!" I shouted.
She looks at me, pouting. "Are you mad at me?" She asked. Her voice filled with sadness.
"Huh?" I was confused. Mad because of what? Because she scared me to death?
"Awhile I go. I kept teasing you." She had her head low. "I'm sorry, I know you hate being teased."
"It's okay." I smiled and patted her back. She looked at me and smiled.
"Really?"
"Yeah, now stop flashing those smile."
"Do you know how much femine you look?"
Another spit on the sink. Seriously this girl will kill me.
"Is that a compliment or a tease?" I asked, walking to the table.
"Both. I mean look at you. You have a baby face and your hands are so smooth for a guy."
I gulped and blushed. I don't even know where to hide my face.
"I don't know, it's natural I guess."
"And you're even working! Wow I envy you."
I chuckled. "You envy my skin? Seriously you're weird."
"Many girls would fall for you."
Many girls? Then why didn't you?
Silence. I turned serious with her last sentence.
Many girls would fall for me. Yeah right, but you didn't Tiffany. You didn't.
"Let's go to the mall." I suggested to break the awkwardness.
Yeah, uh. Just a short update. And I bet this is a lame one. Sorry :(
