"Meow~"
"Ahh, this is going to be difficult," your friend Baekhyun said as he looked up at the tree like what you were doing.
"Please, you must try to save that cat," you pleaded him.
Baekhyun sighed and looked at the lady whose eyes had gotten teary due to the misfortune of the lady's cat.
"I'll see what I can do."
Baekhyun then went over to the tree and tried to climb it. Apparently he wasn't a good climber as you expected him to be. He couldn't get anywhere higher than your height.
"That was embarrassing," you told him as he came back.
"I know right," he said, "it's okay though, I'll go get a ladder."
Baekhyun then left to go find a ladder.
You then looked the lady and patted her, "it's alright. Cats are really obedient when they're up on trees."
"Really?"
"Yes," you said, "experience told me so."
"I see."
The lady then went on to try to talk to her cat. While she was doing so, you couldn't help but to think about your first childhood hero.
"Mummy, look! It's a squirrel," you said and pointed at the squirrel running up a tree. But your mum was too busy chatting with her friend that she didn't hear you. You then walked over to the tree and looked at the squirrel.
When you were quite close to the tree, a cat zoomed past your legs and up the tree, chasing the squirrel. The squirrel hid in a hole on the tree probably made by some birds, the cat missed it and ended up being on some branch. You looked in awe and amazement. You were so young, it was really fascinating to see this scene. Being amazed at the squirrel, you stared at the hole and waited for it to come out again.
"Meow~"
You then finally noticed the cat stuck on the tree.
"Are you stuck up there?" You asked the cat, thinking that it'll reply.
"Meow..."
"Stupid cat, you deserve that for chasing a poor squirrel."
The cat bore an innocent face and meowed pitifully. It was the colour of snow and was quite fluffy. You couldn't help but to feel sorry for it.
"Fine. I'll try to save you."
You were about to walk off when a boy held your shoulder and said, "I will save it!"
You turned around and saw a boy around your age, probably a year or so older, or maybe even the same age as you.
"You...?"
He had a plaster over his nose, big eyes, slightly chubby, and two large ears that stick out of his head. And with his short haircut, he looked sort of like a carrot. His outfit was damp, meaning he perspired a lot.
"Yes! Me!"
The boy then started climbing the tree. He was doing it so easily that people who had never tried climbing a tree would think that climbing trees is a piece of cake.
Up on the tree, the boy reached his hand out and tried to grab the cat. But the cat was so frightened that it remained rooted. The boy then made his way onto the branch. It looked so dangerous that you felt really worried. You went underneath them and reached your hands out, in hope that you'll be able to safe them if they fall.
The boy then hugged at cat and jumped off the branch. He landed on his feet but was unable to hold himself, so he fell on his bum afterwards.
"Ahh!" He yelled.
You ran over to him and asked, "are you alright?!"
"I'm fine... Here," he said and offered me the cat, "your kitten. It's so cute."
"Actually it's not mine. I just wanted to save it."
"Really?"
You nodded in guilt of making him save a cat which was of no relation to you.
He stood up and hugged the cat in his arms.
"Well, it's alright. I'll keep this kitten then, since it's so cute."
You noticed he was putting all his pressure only on his left leg, so you figured he probably injured his right leg.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
He laughed and said, "of course! Hahah! Any suggestions for the name of the cat?"
You then saw his elbow. He scraped his right elbow and it was bleeding. He saw you looking at it and quickly turned that side away.
"I'll call this guy Nyeol then! Since my sister calls me cha-nyeol hahaha."
"____! Come over here now! We're going to be late for your dental appointment!"
You heard your mum's voice and you turned around to look at her.
You turned back to the boy and he gave you a wide smile.
"Byebye~"
"Bye..."
You left but continued to take occasional glances at him as you walked. But he didn't move. He only started to limp away when you got up your dad's car.
"Here! I'm back with the ladder!"
Baekhyun dashed over and placed the ladder against the tree.
Baekhyun climbed up the ladder and stretched his arms out for the cat.
"I can't reach it!"
You laughed and said, "your arms are too short!"
Baekhyun pouted and got off the ladder. He was about to shift the ladder when a low voice spoke.
"Noona! What are doing here?"
Everyone turned to look at him. Like your childhood hero, he had big eyes, a wide smile and big ears. The only difference was his hair, which was long and curly. And he didn't had a plaster on his nose anymore.
"Chanyeol, perfect," the lady said, "Nyeol is stuck on the tree and..."
"Again," Chanyeol said, "I'll get him down."
Chanyeol walked over to the ladder and asked, "may I use it?"
"Sure," Baekhyun said and moved aside.
Chanyeol grabbed the cat and jumped down the ladder, just like how he did it back then.
Your eyes were glued on him, and yet he hadn't noticed it. He went over to his sister and passed her the cat.
"Ahh Nyeol. Why are you so cute?"
Chanyeol pointed at himself and said, "with an owner like me, how can it be not cute?"
Chanyeol's sister thanked you and Baekhyun too and noticed you haven't took your eyes off her brother once.
"Chanyeol ah," she said, "is she your friend?"
Chanyeol looked at you and scratched his head. After a while, he burst into a wide smile and said, "I remember you! The one who saw me save Nyeol for the first time!"
Chanyeol went over to you and said, "didn't expect to see you here again!"
"I came to visit my friend," you said and pointed at Baekhyun.
Chanyeol slapped Baekhyun's tummy and said, "you know Baekhyun too! Haha! He's my neighbour!"
"Really?"
"Yea," Chanyeol said excitedly, "and she's my sister who just came back from overseas!"
Her sister waved and pointed at her watch.
Chanyeol nodded to her and told you and Baekhyun, "it's lunchtime now. I got to go."
"Bye~" Baekhyun said.
"Meet again after lunch," you said, "I have questions to ask you."
Chanyeol smiled and accepted without hesitation.
While walking back to Baekhyun's house, Baekhyun asked, "so you think he's good looking? And you're interested in him?"
"I didn't say that."
"But you're thinking of that. Hahah. Give it up girl, he's dating me."*
You eyed him and said, "he'll break up with you for me."
"Ah! See! You are attracted to him!"
"I didn't say I wasn't~"
You laughed and skipped away, as you get more and more excited to talk to Chanyeol later on.
*you know how Chanyeol and Baekhyun likes to say they're in a relationship? Hahaha! It's so cute. But Chanyeol also said that baekyeol/chanbaek isn't real, so don't worry! They're straight~ :D
