chapter 38
ScorpioKris was elated with surprise upon seeing his childhood friend. Gaeul is a pure Korean who moved to China when she was 7. They were actually neighbors and being of the same age, the two got along with each other and practically grew up together. Until the time when Kris had to move to Seoul, they were totally inseparable.
For the two of them, their friendship was a gift. Back then when Gaeul didn’t have anyone in China, Kris was the person she depended on to survive. When Kris’ family fell apart, it was Gaeul who supported him all the way through. They were each other’s pillar, very essential to each other’s existence.
Kris had always considered Gaeul as the ‘different one’ among the girls she met. This girl had always been headstrong against him, whenever they bicker. She’s the first woman to have hit him, stood him up, make him cry even. It’s not that he feared her; but somehow, he’s willing to be the plain sidekick with her around.
“What are you doing here?!” Kris exclaimed – joy apparent in his eyes – as he pulled away from the hug. “Aren’t you supposed to be in China?”
Gaeul smiled as she placed her hands in both sides of her waist. “Didn’t Auntie tell you?”
The young man’s thick eyebrows furrowed in confusion as a pout appeared in the cute girl’s lips. “What does my mom have to tell me?”
Chuckles of excitement escaped the girl’s lips as her eyes twinkled in joy. “I was scouted by an entertainment company in Seoul but they have to train me here in Gyeonggi for around a month and a half, I guess?”
