A Cliché Family fiftynine “Thank you so much!” Gwiboon says as she looks at Jinki with a smile. Jinki waves off her gratitude with a wide smile and rocks the small girl in his arms.

“It’s our pleasure,” he says and Gwiboon chuckles.

“I’ll pick her up in the afternoon when I get off, I promise.”

Jinki just nods and gently pushes her out of the front door.

“Don’t worry about us, Gwiboon. We’ll be fine.” He looks at his 7-month-old granddaughter. “Isn’t that right, Jaehwa? We’ll be fine without mom?”

Gwiboon laughs out loud this time and shakes her head fondly.

“Once again, thank you!”

Jinki looks up so he can send Gwiboon a stern look.

“Hurry up, you’ll be late for work,” he says and Gwiboon takes a last look at Jinki with her daughter before she leans down so she can press her lips against Jaehwa’s forehead.

“Mommy loves you,” she says and then turns around to walk towards her car with a small wave. Jinki stands in the front door and watches Gwiboon leave in the car. When the car turns around the corner and disappears, he turns around and closes the door behind him. Jaehwa giggles in his arms and Jinki sends her a small smile before he puts her on the floor.



Having an infant in the house again is different than what he has been used to in the past years. Jinki appreciates it if he has to be completely honest. There is a nativity and innocence to the small girl and Jinki adores her. He might be a little in love but he is sure that’s what every grandparent feel for their grandchild. He brings Jaehwa into the living room where he sits on the couch and watches her sitting on his thighs as she giggles. Jinki smiles at her and talks back to her in the same excited voice she’s using with him.



Kibum finds them in the living room 30 minutes later, Jinki laughing as he supports Jaehwa who’s standing on his thighs, bouncing up and down. Kibum watches them from a distance for a minute or two before he walks closer and sits down next to Jinki. Jaehwa sees him first and laughs and her laughter has Jinki redirecting his attention to his husband.

“Oh hello,” he says. “Hello grandpa.”

Kibum snorts but waves at Jaehwa nonetheless.

“Hello sweetpea,” he says and reaches a hand out so he can grab Jaehwa’s small fist and shake it a little. Jinki transfers the girl to Kibum just as she farts loudly. Kibum frowns and Jinki can’t stop his laughter.

“Do you poop on grandpa?” he asks, laughter still in his voice and Kibum pushes Jinki’s shoulder before he hoist Jaehwa into his arms and carries her towards the bathroom. Figures that it would be him that would end up changing diapers.



Jaehwa takes a small nap around 11 AM. Jinki leans against the counter with his eyes closed as he enjoys a moment of silence. Playing with an infant is tougher than he remembers it. He refuses to accept that it’s because he’s older. Kibum shakes his head when he finds Jinki before he leans against his chest. He can feel Jinki’s breath hitch in surprise before he exhales deeply.

“You surprised me,” he says and Kibum shrugs a little before he removes himself a little from Jinki so he can look at him.

“You know, I could use a nap as well,” Kibum says and Jinki laughs.
