A Cliché Family

Taemin is walking back home from Jongin's house a warm January day. With warm, he means just above 0 degrees. But the weather is causing the snow to melt, resulting in snow slush on the roads and as the 9-year-old boy Taemin is, he's enjoying this to the fullest. Every step he takes forces the slush to the sides and the more slush he can splash, the funnier it is. It is when he jumps into a particularly big pool of slush that he sees the small, grey kitten. It's looking at him with big eyes and Taemin can't help but pity the little creature. When he crouches down, the cat shies a little away. It takes a lot of cooing to finally get close to the cat but when he does, the cat looks so pathetic and cold that he can't help but feel sorry for the small animal. The kitten doesn't even protest when he lifts it, albeit a little clumsily.
It's in that moment that Taemin get's the fabulous idea of bringing the cat home. Roo probably won't mind, she's an old dog anyway and he can give the cat some food and a shower and make it look really pretty. His fathers are totally going to applaud him for taking such good care of a stray animal. He hurries home, backpack bouncing against his back while he runs in the snow slush.
When he gets home it's to find the house empty. It's no wonder that neither of his fathers are at home but it's weird that Jonghyun or Minho aren't home either. The kitten is snuggled up in his arms, almost about to fall asleep when Taemin sits it down on the kitchen table. The small cat stretches its limbs before it lays down on the table. Taemin fiddles around in the kitchen, looks for this and that and finally finds a can of tuna. Cats like tuna, right?
It takes another 2 minutes to open the can of tuna before he puts it on a plate in front of the cat. The kitten eats greedily, almost inhaling the fish on the plate and Taemin sits on a chair and observes it. It's definitely smaller than normal kittens so maybe it's just a really young kitten. It's also very thin so it's no wonder it's hungry. It's also very dirty which has resulted in the kitchen table now being more brown than white. Taemin doesn't really care. He can clean it up later, right? Or his brothers can if he's tricky enough.
When the kitten is finally done with eating and is looking down at the floor Taemin grabs it again. He decides right then that it's a female because it would be really cute to have a female cat. Roo trudges into the kitchen just then, takes one look at the cat in Taemin's arms and starts barking. The cat hisses and claws at Taemin's forearms to get free. It hurts like and Taemin shouts out as well, the kitchen a mix of animal sounds and Taemin's loud cries of pain.
"Dammit Roo!" he shouts at the dog and hurries away into the bathroom. The kitten still has her claws imbedded in Taemin's skin and he slams the door shut right in front of the dog. Roo doesn't stop her barking, though. Taemin pries the cat off of him and puts her down in the shower. There's definitely drawn blood and it hurts a little but it's not like he can't deal with it. He does send a glare towards the door and the dog behind it, though. It's definitely Roo's fault.
When the kitten meows he returns his attention to the dirty cat.
"It's okay, don't worry. Roo isn't going to hurt you." He pets her and when she finally calms down he turns on the shower - and all hell breaks loose. She hides from the water und
