A Cliché Family Fiftyfive   It's the usual cold December morning when Jinki wakes up on December 14th. There is nothing to indicate that today is the day he turns 50. Kibum is sleeping next to him and Jinki turns to look at the alarm clock on the nightstand. It's 6.34 and Jinki can't help the chuckle that escapes him when he realizes that he's woken up far too early. Kibum turns in his sleep and cuddles closer to Jinki.

The older man smiles at his husband and wraps an arm around Kibum's waist. Time ticks by as Jinki lies awake in bed and thinks about the time that has passed by.

25 years ago he was a single father who had just met Kibum. He had been nervous and fidgety on their first date but Jonghyun had been nothing but a treasure when they had taken a walk in the park. Kibum talked a lot back then. He doesn't anymore. It's like their conversations have grown quiet, as if they know what the other thinks without words. Jinki hopes it's a good sign. He remembers awkward hugs and incredibly awkward confessions. He remembers Kibum almost panicking when Jinki had asked him to look after a sleeping Jonghyun for 30 minutes in March. He'd fallen in love with the other fairly quickly, it was impossible not to love 23-year-old Kibum, but he had been rather hesitant with asking him out.

Jinki presses a kiss to Kibum's temple when he hears some rustling outside the door. He hears hushed voices and closes his eyes to pretend he's asleep. It sounds like a lot of people when someone sneaks into the room but Jinki guesses it's only three.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear father, happy birthday to you."

Jinki yawns and fakes being awakened by the song while Kibum opens his eyes groggily and looks around in the room. In the doorway stands four people, three boys and one pregnant girl and they all smile at him. Jonghyun has an arm protectively around his pregnant girlfriend, Minho holds a cake with lit candles and a wide smile painting his features and Taemin uncrosses his arms and tries not to seem too happy. Teenagers, Jinki chuckles to himself before Kibum finally catches his attention when he intertwines their fingers.

"Happy birthday, honey," he says, voice laced with sleep and Jinki just smiles and presses a quick peck to Kibum's sleepy lips. Then he turns his attention back to his sons and his daughter-in-law and urges them inside the master bedroom.

"Thank you!" he says and takes the cake from Minho when they all get around to sit on the bed as well. There's not a lot of space but Jinki likes it just like this. Gwiboon looks at him a little apologetical.

"I tried to tell him he shouldn't bring me, but Jonghyun is overprotective, didn't think I could handle being alone." She sighs and Jinki laughs. He grabs her hand and squeezes
