Chapter 21: Letting Go
Our Twisted Love Story~*Myungsoo's POV*~
Seeing her tears tore at my heart. I wanted to comfort her and tell her that everything would be okay, but a bigger part of me wanted confirmation. Before anything else, I needed to know. I whipped out my phone, dialing his number.
He picked up on the second ring.
"Are you giving up?" I inquired the moment he answered.
He sighed on the other line before speaking. "...Why are you calling me and not comforting her?" I froze, but only for a moment. I needed answers, then I could go to Hye Ri. She would wait for me.
"Just tell me, Yeol." I grit my teeth, forcing the words out through my closed jaw. "Are you giving up?"
Once again, a sigh elicited from the other line. "Yes." I drew in a raspy breath and held it, surprised by his bluntness... and surprised that he was giving up altogether. "I'm letting her go for her sake, but it doesn't mean that I'm accepting that you're the one for her. You shouldn't be calling me right now. I hear her, Myungsoo. And you know damn well what you should be doing rather than getting confirmation from me. Regardless of if I was letting go or not, you should have been at her side. Through everything, you should have been by her side. Do you know how much she has suffered in the last couple of weeks? First, you disappeared and then... then..." He sighed once more and I cringed. "Did you know she lost her parents? In an accident. I almost went crazy. She barely ate, she didn't talk, didn't even look at me. All she would do was stare at the wall and cry... I'm only telling you all this because I thought you should know so you could think about what you're doing. Get your head straight, Myungsoo-yah. Don't hurt her; don't let her shed any tears or else, I swear to God, I'll see to you personally. So instead of calling me and asking if I've given up on her, get your next to her. Don't be so happy that I'm letting her go." He warned on a finishing note and I nodded, though he couldn't see me.
"I'm not the one you should be worried about anyway." Sungyeol mumbled but it was too low; I couldn't catch what he said.
"What-" He hung up before I could even get a word in. I redialed his number but he wouldn't pick up. "Dammit, Yeol. Why did you tell me so much?" I growled, slightly in shock. I let my eyes glaze over, attempting to soak in all the information Sungyeol laid upon me.
Did you know how much she has suffered in the last couple of weeks?
You disappeared....
...Lost her parents.
Barely ate. Didn't talk. Didn't look at me.
All she would do was stare at the wall and cry.
I clutched at my head, mortified. Glancing over to Hye Ri, surrounded by the infinite members, I hung my head low in shame. "I never wanted to hurt you... my Angel..." I took babysteps towards her, only to be stopped by my vibrating cell.
Yeol..?
I checked the screen, signaling that I had received a message, but it wasn't from Sungyeol.
To: Myungsoo
From: Sumi
I'm sorry to disturb you, but come quick.
It's an emergency.
I furrowed my eyebrows, torn. I wanted, needed, to be there for Hye Ri, but at the same time, I had to help Sumi.
To: Myungsoo
From: Sumi
Please.
.
I clenched my fist, squeezing the phone shut.
I'll finish quickly... I'll be back soon, Angel. Wait for me.
With one final backwards glance, I sprinted out the front door.
