ENGAGED
Kai is a good friend. Someone who knows about Kris's plans and intentions. He'd known Kris since they were in college; back when Kai would dance at every corner of the locker hall and Kris would sing along to the songs playing in his headset. Those were their dreams; to be masters of choreography and lyrics. Kris confides everything to Kai, even if he is the sometimes naughty slash sometimes shy slash maknae.
'She said yes?' Kai asked disbelievingly. They were in his apartment talking 'bout Kris's rejected-now-accepted proposal to the supermodel Alex.
'Ahuh,' it was the third time Kris had confirmed.
'But you said she's engaged,' Kai was being nosy. Kris figures it was because of the fact that just the other day, Kai was laughing his head off when Kris told him the runway girl rejected an offer that involves acting as his girlfriend. He said that he couldn't believe someone would refuse Kris, and that he admires Alex's guts for being the first one to do so.
Kris shrugged his shoulders, 'She agreed to do it for one month.'
Kai gave him a concerned look. 'Are you sure 'bout this, Kris?'
Kris doesn't like it when Kai asks questions like that. It makes him doubt his own decisions even if he's one hundred percent decided. 'I'm always sure.'
'Yeah? What if her boyfriend comes and give you a big black-eye?' His friend challenged.
Kris only snorts. 'What for? It's not like I'm really going to fall in love with her.' That's not going to happen, he reassured himself.
To this, Kai just shrugged his shoulders too. 'I don't know. I was just saying. What's inside this, anyway?' He tried to change the topic and pointed at the paperbag Kris has brought with him.
'Magazines.' Kris said, trying not to sound guilty or anything.
Kai reached for the magazines inside and began to laugh the moment he saw the covers. 'You bought all of these?' That moment, Kris regretted letting Kai touch them. He was kind of sure Kai would react that way. Much to Kris's surprise, Kai even emphasized out loud, 'Three magazines with Alexandria Dawson on the covers! Explain now!' He was still laughing.
What the. 'I just...want to know her more. The things she like, how she got discovered, featured articles about her...'
'And why would you do that?!' Seriously, someone stop this kid from getting into my nerves.
'Because!' Kris starts to think. What valid reasons are there? 'The press is going to ask questions and I don't want to get caught up answering like I don't know my girlfriend, okay?' It was the least he can think of. And Kai is still laughing!
'Whatever, cool guy,' Kai smiled hugely. He scanned one of the magazines and turned into the page that has the Alex issue on it and beams, 'Woah, she's really pretty! And y!'
Kris was instantly on his side, looking through the picture. Alex was wearing a one-piece swimsuit, looking y with that wet hair and slim arms that caresses her perfect jawline. 'Hey! What are you doing! I should be the one to see them first!' He flipped the magazine close and pushed Kai away. 'I got to go. I'll see you...' Kris thought of his schedule for the week and realized he hasn't memorized his day-offs. 'Whenever!'
Kris was almost inside his parked car outside Kai's apartment when Kai shouted, 'Take care of her or else! I'll date her!' Kris looked back immediately and Kai was still by his doorstep.
For real?! Kris raised an eyebrow and Kai sticked his tongue out like a kid before finally closing the door behind him. What the hell. 'But she's engaged!' Kris shouted back, knowing Kai can hear him.
He couldn't believe he has just said it. Thinking that Kai was probably just in his normal playboy mood, Kris got into his BMW and hit the road. Yes, indeed. That 5'8ft model is engaged.
