chapter nine 

Dizziness

That night, after Alice bumped into some random guys, she started walking around. She looked up and noticed the beautiful full-moon. The silent streets told her that was already late, maybe later than midnight. The places around, the houses, the different apartments and most of the buildings a round’s lights were off, meaning people were already sleep. The mentioned girl was alone the hushed and solitary streets. Due to the lateness, she needed to find a place to spend the night. The apprentice looked around as she walked ahead; the cold wind against the way she was heading. She shivered a bit, but no due to the coldness the real reason was because she was feeling sick and weak. Alice touched her forehead and felt it pretty warm, she had fever. “I think I depleted most of my vital energy”

Alice looked up. Her gaze stopped in a certain building, she decided to head towards the top of it. She uttered a spell for her wings to appear and then she flew towards the top. When she landed, her wings disappeared instantly and the moment her feet reached the floor she almost felt, she was feeling dizzy. “I should stop using it,” she coughed. She sat down, put her bag on the floor next to her and then her head rested against her bag, she was using it as a pillow.

Alice´s eyelids were starting to close with her gaze eyed with curiosity the moon. She needed to rest if she wanted to have her energy back. Even if she knew that just sleeping wouldn’t help her, she wanted to believe it. What she really needed was someone´s else energy, but she was afraid of taking it, because that was she really doing, stealing. Soon she hit dreamland.

The next day, Alice woke up due to the sun´s shine. She felt a bit better, but still dizzy. Alice stood up and took a look above. There weren’t so many people around yet. “I think I can go down now” She, instead of using her wings, uttered another different spell to appear down. She re-appeared into an alley. She started walking as she was coughing and the moment she felt the alley, she saw Rea a crossed the street. Alice noticed the other apprentice signalizing her to come. She doubted it at first, but she thought it might be important if Rea was calling her.

The moment Alice reached Rea´s place she didn’t say a word, the girl waited for her to speak. After all, it was always Rea the one who speaks first when she and Alice saw each other.

“Your tutor told me to tell you that if he´s not coming to check on you it’s because things on Hell are a mess,” Rea said with a plain and monotonous tone. Alice knew the latter wasn’t please talking to her, neither Alice was. There were opposites, not only in personalities but also in the way they act and resolve things.

Alice nodded as she whispered. “Thanks”

“But he told me to check on you instead,” Rea added as she smirked.

Alice scoffed. “We both know that you wouldn’t”

“You are right, little baby, you are right,” Rea sighed, “In the end, I would always a lie about you and your whereabouts”

“Just don’t be too obvious. You know I’m not that depraved as you or Azazel or any other” Rea´s eye browns frowned. Even if that was true, she felt offended because that sentence came from Alice´s thoughts. Rea was aware that even if the girl was hostile Alice had something most demons and even humans lack of: sincerity. That was a characteristic demons avoid because not only it reflects reality, but also the power of a person determination to say what they really feel or think.

Rea smirked as her gaze and aura turned into a darker one. “Don’t underestimate me, little baby,” Rea turned, her back facing Alice, as she disappeared from her sight.

Alice stood there, watching the streets get full with people and cars. Her gaze following the random people. Then she felt dizzy once again. Alice found an empty bench next to a small building; she sat there for a while. When she felt better, she stood up and started walking. Sometimes, she bumped with people due to the blurriness her eyes reflected.

Alice stopped because her gaze spots a certain someone. Her dizziness and blurriness maybe made her hallucinate. But she was sure for a few minutes the person who was standing a few meters away from her was the one she meet days ago, the one who found out quickly that she was a demon-apprentice. She also knew that she was going to see him again, but Alice wasn’t planning to see him this fast. Alice´s gaze turned to her right and walked that way, away from the mentioned guy. Her priorities now were resting and recovering some of her energy. Soon she disappeared into the crowd.

Lu Han´s gaze lifted and stopped on Alice. The latter had turned to her right the moment Lu Han realized it was her. This was the second time he saw her after their encounter.
