When Trouble Walked In [Hiatus]

Tao leaned back in the chair as he averted his eyes to the pictures on Sehun’s desk.  He was sitting in his friend’s office, waiting for him since they decided to have some lunch together.  All of the pictures on the desk were of Minah on the wedding day.  Her smile was warm and bright as she stared into the camera.  Her skin glowed beautifully, like the young bride that she was.  For a moment, Tao wondered if Sehun could hear her laughter in a distance.

She looked so happy, he thought as Sehun suddenly barged in and startling him.

Tao stared at his friend, as he came in, looking handsome and charasmatic.  He blinked at Sehun’s stern face as the thought of him crying crossed his mind.  Even though it had been years ago, Tao still have never seen his friend cried that hard before.         Sehun had received a sudden call from Minah’s OBGYN, asking if she had left with him without signing the release forms.  Unsure about what happened he and the guys sped through Seoul to go back home, only to find everything in place expect for one thing.  Minah’s suitcase with all of her belongings prior moving into the Oh residency.

‘No.’ Tao remembered Sehun muttered, as he tore through their closet.  ‘There’s no way she would leave.’

After fruitless attempts to find the suitcase that Sehun was looking for, he gave up.  They went to the hospital she was admitted to and that was when he discovered that Minah had a miscarriage from a high impact car accident, which only caused confusion.  Minah didn’t know how to drive and wasn’t planning on going anywhere that day.  Nothing made sense until they found out that Krystal had a huge car accident.

That was when everything started to piece together.  Sehun confronted the girl face to face, but she denied everything.  Tao remembered him choking over his words as he asked her over and over.  Then, before he knew it, Sehun was begging Krystal to tell her the truth in tears.  She did and he told her that she didn’t have the right to be mad at Minah.  The person that Krystal should have been at should have been Sehun, not her.

He continued to cried more in the car, as Kai drove them over to his place.  He told himself something about how she may come back soon, so he shouldn’t loose hope of never seeing her again.  He kept on saying those words to himself over and over, but days eventually became months and years.

It’s been 10 years already, thought Tao.

“What’s wrong, Tao?” asked Sehun, pulling him out of his thoughts.

The friend smiled.  “You know how you said that there was a mysterious woman in your room, right, Sehun?” he asked, as he looked up at him

He nodded his head, as he glanced up from the papers in his hand.  “Maybe you should try looking for her.” suggested Tao.

Sehun’s face scruntched up, unsure.  He softly placed down his papers on the desk, in front of Tao.  “I feel like I’ve seen her somewhere breifly before our encounter.” he thought, out loud.

“A secret admirer?” asked Tao, curious.

Sehun blinked, slowly.  “No.” he concluded.  “I have never seen her before in my life.”

Tao stared at him again.  “Well, that’s unfortunate.” he said.

Sehun wasn’t completely sure of himself, but his body had a mind of its own.  By the time he had already decided that what he was doing was stupid, he was already walking down the halls of the school.  He let out a sigh as he looked through the classrooms, searching for that one teacher.

“Oh, Sehun-sshi.” said a soft voice, grabbing his attention.

He quickly turned around to find her behind him.  She smiled softly, making him blush slightly.  He wasn’t going to deny it.  When he first laid his eyes on her, he knew that this teacher was beautiful.  He was sure that she made many male students and dads swoon over her all the time, with her warm and gentle smile.  Her eyes twinkle as she looked up at him.

            “Teacher Lee.” he responded.

“Why are you here?” she asked, curiously.  “Are you looking for the principal?  If you are, I believe he already-”

“Actually,” interrupted Sehun, a bit too quickly.  “I was looking for a teacher.”

Teacher Lee blinked her eyes cutely, which only made his smile stretch wider if possible.  “A teacher?” she asked.  “Which one?”

“I don’t really remember.” admitted Sehun.

“Do you remember which grade he or she was teaching?” asked Teacher Lee.

“I think first grade.” suddenly remembering Sehun.  “She has short hair and the children loved her.”

“Oh, that’s Teacher Kim.” smiled Teacher Lee.  “Kim Naeun.  Her room is 11.”

After chatting with her for a bit, Sehun bid her goodbye and went on his way to room 11.  The teacher was still there when he got there.  For a moment, he hesitated.  He wasn’t sure if he should intrude since she looked so busy trying to tidy up the book shelves at the back of the room.  From her back, he could tell that it was her.  That same girl that he met that same night.  So, he was right after all.  He had met her somewhere before and he knew that it had to be at the elementary school.  After taking in a deep breath, he knocked softly on the door.

She turned around to face him, but he still couldn’t see her face that well.  Over the years, Sehun had became acutely nearsighted so her face was blurry.  But, even in the blurriness, he could make out her round face.  “Hello, Teacher.” bowed Sehun, quickly.  “We briefly met at my mom’s birthday again the other day.”  She didn’t say anything, but just nod.  Unsure of what to say, Sehun stumbled over his words.  “So…  Y-You…  Um…  How do you know my mom?”

She mumbled something incoherent.  Thinking that it was the distance that was the reason why, Sehun stepped into the classroom.  He thought it was strange how she quickly looked down, letting her bangs cover her face.  “I’m sorry; I couldn’t hear what you said.” he said.

“A family friend.” she repeated, almost in a whisper, as she finished up putting the books back in the right places.

“Oh, I see.” said Sehun, as he looked at her left hand.

There was no ring, so she was probably single.  Mrs. Oh tried to hook him up all of her friends’ daugthers already and nothing good ever really happened.  In fact, his relationships only became more awkward with those young women.  So, if she was of Mrs. Oh’s friend’s daugther, then why have he never met her before?  Why have his mother forced him to have a romantic relationship with her?

“If you knew my mom, why didn’t you say something to me the other day when I came by to visit the school?” asked Sehun.  “My mom would have been happy to hear that we are supporting a school one of her friends’ daughter is working at.  What’s your name?”

Although Sehun wanted to ask her why she was in his old room, he decided not to.  Maybe she thought that it was the restroom because his room had been mistaken as that many times before by guests.  That was why he didn’t like how that room was right by the staircase, but it was the one with the best lighting, so he didn’t have much a choice.

The young woman doesn’t answer and he thought that she probably didn’t hear him.  “So, what’s your name?” he repeated.

            “Kim Naeun.” she replied, softly.

Sehun swallowed hard, as he watched her about to get off the ground from the book shelves.  He felt like he was intruding on something, considering how she was reacting to him.  She didn’t want to make eye contact with him at all and she seemed to be avoiding him, by turning away from him.

He took two steps closer to the woman, as she was about to stand up.  “Here, take my hand.” he offered, lowering his hand down to her eye level.

For a breif moment, he could see her face clearly.  She was quite average, with a plain face.  Without saying anything, she dismissed his hand and stood up on her own.  She walked over to her desk at a corner and quickly packed up her things, indicating that she was leaving.

“Where do you live?” Sehun asked.  “I can help take you home.”  She just shook her head.  “Are you sure?”  She nodded her head.  “You know, my mom will be mad that I didn’t take care of a family friend.”

“It’s OK.” she mumbled.  “Someone else is already giving me a ride.”

She’s quite down to earth if her parents are so rich and, yet, she is working at a school in the slums, thought Sehun.  She must be a saint or something.  She doesn’t flaunt off how rich her family is at all, by wearing very plain and simple clothes.  She even have her driver come get her after all of her co-workers had left.

He smiled.  “I’m glad to hear about that then.” he said, with a nod.  “I’ll be off now.  Tell your mom that I said hi.”

But, he didn’t even ask who her mom was…  He just brushed off the thought.  He was already an unwelcomed guest, so to stand there and to try to expand the conversation would be rude of him.  She, obviously, wanted him to leave with her body language the moment he stepped into the room.

He let out a long sigh after he walked away from the classroom.  He shook his head, feeling stupid for trying to find out who she was especially when he already concluded the reason why she went into his room.  Sehun quickly got into his car and took his sweet time.  He leaned back in the driver’s seat and closed his eyes for some time.  He didn’t do that to try to fall asleep, but to simply calm his mind down before driving.  He came to a conclusion: there were a lot of things he needed to ask his mother now and would call her once he got home.

As he was pulling out of the parking lot, he could clearly see Naeun standing on the staircase in front of the school.  A black, sleek car pulled up and she smiled, causing Sehun to step on the brake.  He could hear his heart race as he stared at her.  The warm, gentle smile she was wearing started to distrub him as he continued to sit there and stare at her in a distance.

Minah, he thought, as his mind started to run in circles.  Is that you?

As much as they have all grown, I don't think that Minah should be with anyone right now. I think that Minah should spend some time alone and find herself again, I want her to take a break from all the drama in her love life and just learn to love and embrace herself again. It breaks my heart to see such a lovely girl like Minah be so hung up on Sehun and dependent on a man to heal herself. She deserves more than this, and I just really want to see Minah love herself again.

However, I can't help but want to see her with Jongsuk rather than Sehun. To be honest, as much as Sehun has matured, his actions in the past just can't be justified. Even if he were young, he shouldn't have been with Krystal while he was married to Minah. Yes, I get that Krystal was different and that he loved her but at that time didn't he already claim to 'love' Minah?

I feel so bad for Minah, she doesn't deserve to be treated like that, no one does. I'm glad that she left Sehun and all I hope for now is for her to have closure with him.

Jongsuk is honestly just so sweet. And I just want to see him and Minah be happy.
