Chapter 10

I looked up to find him eyeing me. I finished what was left of my tea, sat my mug on the coffee table, nodded and grabbed his hand. *Heavens his hands again. Sometimes I wish I’d never have to let go of them.* He led me to my bedroom and sat me on the bed. He helped me take off my jacket and flung it across a chair nearby. I sat there silently. “You okay, Bre?” he worriedly asked me. I looked up at him and nodded quickly. “You sure? You seem surprisingly… quiet. Did I say or do something wrong? If I did, I didn’t mean-“

 I cut him off and squeezed his arm reassuringly. “You did nothing wrong, Kris. I’m just thankful for you to have been here with me. I don’t know what would’ve happened if I hadn’t met you. Kamsahapmida, Kris.” He smirked at me, but I can see his sincerity.

“No problem, Bre. Anytime you need it, help is there.” I smiled at his promise. “Now, lie down and rest. Let the tea settle completely in. Here.” He picked up a piece of paper and scribbled something on it then sat it back on the bedside table. “Call me when you fully feel better, that is if I don’t see you tomorrow at work. Bye, Bre.” He patted my head and showed himself out.
